  1. Yes, Iron audio can be reduced to zero. But while I apprecite you taking the time to type out a thoughful reply, you are talking about how to use each. I'm asking about the internal differences, not the functional/practical ones. What, to a metal detector engineer or programmer is the difference?
  2. I do understand that (at least in the Deus world) discriminated targets still gives an iron sound, and notch is silent. Also that you can have multiple ranges of notching and that they don't have to start at (or below) 0. I've got that. But internally, programatically/technically why do we have both? Does one affect depth or speed of processing more than the other? Any other differences?
  3. I spent far too many years on another MD forum hoping to get that sort of information. The one person that was in that group that gave good information left it some time ago. I'm glad that I recently discovered this group. Looking forward to some more in-depth learning!
  4. Thanks for the awesome analysis! That is exactly the sort of post that I love to, but rarely do, see on MD forums!
  5. I credit/blame that on marketing wanting to provide examples of the various features more than anything else.
  6. But isn't gain applied after all of the other signal processing? If that is true (and I don't know, which is why I'm asking) then reducing it is only going to reduce everything equally, including weak signals from deep targets, so nothing really would be gained.
  7. OK, I'll bite: how do you know when you're getting silent EMI?
  8. I don't understand what makes Deep HC any deeper or better for high conductors than any of the other programs if you drop max frequency and reactivity. Is there maybe some internal difference that they don't tell us about?
  9. The metal detecting forum that I have been following for years has recently been so quiet you can almost hear the mice running around in the walls.
  10. I've been using Relic with a large "notch" (0-90 in some cases) to help me cherry pick parks that still have silver hidden amongst the bottlecaps and pulltabs. I found 23 silvers in one park, including one half-dollar and two quarters. It might have worked with any of the presets, but I used relic.
  11. I *suspect* that I have seen the same thing, twice. I can't prove that I didn't simply forget to turn off the remote, but I'm reasonably certain that I did not. Still watching for it to happen again. Meanwhile, I'm trying to remember to check each time before I head out. (First post on this site... hi, everybody. I know some of you from that other site)
