 When viewing the Moon and seeing all of the meteorite strikes, the Earth being much larger and gravity having much more pull, many more meteorites have hit the Earth than have hit the Moon over time. 

Looks like you are on your way Doc, I'll take one when you get it finalized. 

Early in Earth history it was molten, all heavy elements sank to the center, (could be lots of gold there) as the Earth cooled and a crust formed it continued to be bombarded with meteorites which is where much of the metals and elements that are mined today come from.   

Watched Meteorite Men shows back in the day, inspired me to hunt for them, found a few. 

Watched episode 2, it was OK, I'll watch # 3. 

Drones sound like a fun way to play but need to do the hard work to actually go to test the spots to know for sure. Love play with drones though. 

I have some questions about different coil manufactures, I will have a bit of a winded question concerning some of them coming up.  phrunt, your post is part of what inspires my upcoming question/post. 

I always liked Dave, he never had a situation where TV did not control and screw with what he could really do.

Steve, I have the very same pick holder, no metal, inexpensive, I too never use it, carry the pick over my shoulder.

I have used a welding helmet with a dark lens which works fine if you have access to one.

I have found a lot of places in Utah that have lots of quarts and detected many places but no detectable gold. Have panned, sluced, high banked many creaks and found small gold. For nuggets, I too go to other states. Good luck out there.

I've made kind of a long tom by putting two sluice boxes end to end. 

California has not yet claimed that breathing causes cancer but give them time. 

It does come with a straw just like WD40 so it will work just fine. 

Started Spring cleaning of my metal detectors a little early this year. I wipe down all parts with a wet warm clean microfiber cloth, rinsing them often. I always remove the coil covers to clean the bottom of the coil and rinse and wipe the inside of the coil covers. I always find fine dust inside of the cover and have always figured there was/is some amount of magnetic material in that dust, but just to confirm this time, I put a strong magnet to the dust and sure enough, some of it stuck to the magnet. Of course, you know that it will affect how the coil response will be affected, so just a heads up, you may want to clean that dust out of your coil and cover often depending on the amount of use, but for sure, every year.
