  1. Bad news Manticore fans.  I talked to the Minelab distributor here and he told me the following:  "All Manticore are shipping via air freight and are not shipping via sea freight in containers."

I guess, if that is the case, this shipment of detectors received yesterday has nothing to do with the Manticores.  And then why they are not here already is a total mystery to me.

Maybe my little Cessna theory of it going back and forth with a few Manticores each time could be closer to the truth than thought.

  2. Wooo Hoooo!  8600 lbs of Minelab metal detectors arrived yesterday to Norfolk, VA!!!   Are these the long lost Manticores??   That is almost as much total weight as the two shipments of Equinoxes a couple weeks ago.  They were shipped from Singapore instead of Malaysia and I don't know what the means.

Surely these are our Manticores.  Dealers should know if Minelab is telling them to expect the Manticores or not in a few days.  Gerry?

If it's allowed to say what is the brand name? At 72 my right hip smarts a little now and again.

I don't know if Steve has a problem with mentioning brand names on such stuff or not.  I guess he can delete this post if he does.  looking at the jar, I got it from a local distributor of a company called American Shaman.  I think they are out of Arizona but you should be able to find their website.  FYI, I am not affiliated with this company in any way.

Hoping for a new knee for Xmas, mri today.  A couple wedges in the right SI joint would be a good addition too but not been all that good. 😃

A few years ago I had a lower back problem that kept getting worse.  Had a chiropractor work on it had my doc do a CT scan then suggest surgery.  One day it got so bad I talked to the nurse associated with my chiropractor and she told me to pick up a certain brand of CBD cream at a local supplier.  Honestly, it was like I just got a miracle cure.  After a year or so I don't even need the daily dab of CBD cream to relieve the pain.

Apparently it doesn't work for everyone or every joint condition but it was a miracle for me.  I could hardly believe how well it worked.  And it worked immediately.  Go figure.

  5. Here are a few from NASA-Tom:

A new shiny Nickel ID's as '27'..... and will very clearly lock on to 27. A new clad Quarter ID's as '88'...... and does not jump around...... unless it is steeply tilted. A new clad dime ID's as '78'. A silver dime ID's as '80'..... unless it is heavily worn down. These are just a few examples. Magnetite/lateritic iron-oxide dirt will cause ID's to 'up-average'..... to a certain point (depth)...... then at the deeper depths....... ID's will then begin to drop.

Federally minted U.S. Gold Coin ID on Manticore =

    $1 Type-1 = 23
    $1 Type-2 & 3 = 20
    $2.50 Quarter Eagle = 37 & 38
    $5.00 Half Eagle = 49-53
    $10.00 Eagle = 65
    $20.00 Double Eagle = 76, 77, 78

    1-Oz .9999 Canadian Mapleleaf = 95

    U.S. 3-Cent Nickel = 12-16

One of those youtubers mentoned today, that people were sending him gold nuggets!

Right when he mentioned that, the street light went out above his head!

    Did you catch that?

I didn't notice the street light but I did notice he mentioned one of our very own moderators here having sent him the gold nugget.  Hmmmm.

It gets Youtube hits and attention, which in turn brings money from the channel.

I don't think the metal detector Youtubers make that much.  I heard some of them say it is in the hundreds of dollars a month.  I doubt there are many of them making a thousand or more monthly.  That isn't a lot for the time they put into the videos and the cost of buying new detectors.  Then they still need a job to make ends meet.

  8. I really feel sorry for those up north who get their Manticores and feel the need to get out in the snow to look for targets.  That looks soooooo cold.  At least her ground wasn't frozen yet.  Those people should be required to send their Manticores to someone in the south who could really use it in an enjoyable environment.

The yoke hole is threaded on one side I believe. Drilling another hole higher up would require some kind of nut for the fastening bolt.

The bolt would be too short to use a nut on it.  You would need a tap & die set to cut some new threads in one of the new holes.

I have been working with, not for, Minelab for over a decade. I have zero fear of them or of speaking my mind as I see fit.

Great attitude.  Don't ever sign their NDA then, Steve.  I would hate to have to make a donation here for an attorney to get you out of trouble.

  11. Ah, so searching dealers for a Manticore turned one up, eh!  Good work.  I tried that a bit but didn't turn one up.   It shouldn't be too much longer anyway and we are going to get some real cold weather (for Texas) here in a few days, too.  Maybe I should book a vacation to Florida for my wife and I.  Florida is wonderful in the winter - especially on the beach.

One thing to remember about hot tar.  It becomes cold tar in cold weather and when tar gets cold it is like being incased in a block of coal

I asked MineLab if they've ever had a dealer skip town with thousands in pre-payment loot.  I think that might have been the question that got my refund rolling. 😅

Good work.  Believe me, that crossed my mind, too, regarding my dealer.  If they get a couple hundred orders then we are talking some money.  People have been tempted with less.

I would think Minelab, knowing how long it takes to bring a detector to the marketplace after announcement would tell dealers they can't take more than a $50 deposit for an out-of-stock Minelab detector.

  13. U.S. Customs search, FloridaSon.

Here is a little more info that will impact our Manticore arrivals.  A freight shipping website says it takes 27 to 43 days to ship containers (by boat port-to-port) from Malaysia to the U.S.  The lower end of this range seems to fit with arrival dates of the last two Minelab shipments from Malaysia to Norfolk, VA.

Furthermore, if, as Minelab stated, the Manticores were shipped the last week of November, they won't be here until late this week at the very earliest and possibly up to even two weeks more.   This is also why I don't think they are tied up in customs because they can't possibly be here yet.

As of this evening (12/19), there are no new Minelab shipment arrivals to U.S. Customs reported since December 12th.

  14. I guess that is a possibility.  They could have arrived in one of those two shipments to the U.S., if customs is giving them the once over.  But I'm not sure I buy that explanation.  It could explain the trickle of Manticores showing up if customs is inspecting them one at a time and releasing them one at a time.  We'll see and I'll keep checking for more Minelab detector shipments.

Don't worry.  The mob with the torches will take pity on you, and the hot tar is quite comfy even in that approaching weather system.

Thanks for the early, honest assessment.

Being the mob leader, GB, I'm sure schoolofhardNox will take comfort in your pity.

  16. schoolofhardNox, did you just get this Manticore shipped to you?  If so, I'm wondering were this trickle of Maticores is coming from.  No new shipments have arrived from Minelab since December 12th.  Hmmm.

(Sorry I can't upvote anyone.  It seems I have used up my daily allotment of up votes.  )

PSPR I'm talking professional videos with one guy going over features and functions that knows the detector inside and out.. Not Detectival crap with an audience crowded around asking questions. Phrunt agreed. They are going backwards.

I thought helpful inhouse videos was what they had posted there.  I never looked at it since I read they had abandoned it so I don't know what sort of content they posted there.  I didn't know they were scraping content.
