  1. Minelab has a Youtube channel. I read somewhere that they pretty much abandoned it under current management. I've noticed they have a Facebook page, too. They were posting about every 2 or 3 days but for some reason they haven't posted since December 1st when the announced the new Equinoxes.
  2. Hit the books, son. It takes more study if you want to keep up with GB.
  3. I'm not taking that comment as sarcasim, Geordiedan. This thread will only be about tracking the Manticores as they obviously are not here yet. I think most who have ordered them would like to know the status of their Manticore as we can determine it since Minelab won't tell us squat.
  4. Oh No!!!! CD got a new 900 and one of the buttons doesn't work right! It only responds to a very hard press. He's also getting some heat from his subscribers on his iron falsing problem and he's not in a good mood about it. What are we going to do with him?
  5. OK, I've already bashed Minelab for their inept Manticore rollout so I'll lay off that topic. But, the only conclusion a reasonable man (or woman) would reach is that there were NO MANTICORES in the two Minelab shipments that arrived Dec. 9th and 12th or we would have them. That means they are still on a boat somewhere at sea while we "patiently" wait for it to dock in the USA. As I mentioned in another thread, the Bill of Lading for the Minelab containers that these two ships delivered (presumably with only Equinox 700's and 900's) references a date of Nov. 11th. If we assume that was the approximate shipping date it seems it has taken about 30 days on the seas for the ships to get to the U.S. from Malaysia. Taking Minelab at their word, they stated the Manticores were being shipped the last week of November. Adding 30 days to that time we arrive at the Manticores arriving in America in about 10 more days. Give or take a few days. I plan to check several times a day on the Ship Arrival website I found to watch for the, hopefully, Manticore shipment(s) to arrive. There is only a day or less of a lag from a ship docking and it being reported on the website. I'll report in this thread when I see a Minelab detector cargo arrive and at that point we should be just days away from receiving our long awaited Manticores.
  6. GB. maybe we can have Steve H. put a disclaimer at the bottom of ALL our posts saying, "I'm Not A Detect (or)(ing) Expert But I Play One OnLine. Take My Post As My Opinion Only As I Am A Complete Dolt."
  7. If I go to the great locations I have found, Steve, they will arrest me!! No permission necessary. Just go straight to jail and they are now the proud owners of my my new detector!
  8. I really would like to see a detector with a circular digger attached to the coil that would take a plug out remove the target and then put the plug back in the hole.
  9. Got it, Steve. I have nothing more to add anyway.
  10. The rules are different for debit cards. It may be tougher for you to get them to act depending upon your bank. Check your bank account balance online for a few days and if you don't see a refund call your bank. Have your bank statement showing the charge and your refund request and wording online of the dealer saying refund upon request until the Manticore is shipped, all printed out so incase they ask what documentation says you can read it to them or send them a copy. If they won't help, look up his state attorney general's office and give them a call or send them an email first. They will be helpful. Oh, and don't let your bank or the AG try to convince you this is a civil matter and you need to have an attorney sue him. NO. If you don't get a refund this is FRAUD plain and simple and authorities need to take action if your bank won't. The AG's office main interest would be in investigating and prosecuting fraud, not getting your money back. In doing so, they are putting pressure on the dealer to pay you back so he doesn't get prosecuted. Everyone would rather refund the money than get prosecuted for fraud and serve a jail sentence. Only under the absolute worst evolution of this would anything more than waiting for your refund or calling the bank to check your options be required.
  11. The gold is coming, strick. You know it and I know it. Merrill (Metal Detecting NYC on youtube) got his Manticore and took it to a park he and other detector friends have hunted profusely. Only digging deep targets he found a large man's wedding ring on this first outing with the Manticore in that hunted out park.
  12. That probably applies to most people but not to me. I've always had problems even understanding what some people are saying to me. It's like my ear-brain connection is faulty. Hence, I've always been more of a visual person even though the ears are getting worse and so is the vision with age. I can pass an ear test - no problem, so it must be somewhere in my processing of sounds that is faulty or weak.
  13. If he doesn't return your money (or ship you a Manticore) after you cancel that is called FRAUD. Just contact the Attorney General's office in the state he is located in and they will talk to him. That's usually enough to get your money back. Of course, that is after you contact your CC company and trying to get them to act. You can also mention it to Minelab Support and they will probably yank his dealership if he doesn't act. I'm 99.999% sure you will get your money back without a big hassle. His only legal way out of it is to declare bankruptcy but then he has much bigger problems than $1599. But I wouldn't worry about it. Just plan to take those steps if you don't see your refund.
  14. Can't blame you there, strick. I haven't watched his videos that long but he can get very abrasive at times. As far as the falsing on the Manticore, after sleeping on that, I think in heavy iron one needs to only dig targets that are separated from the iron signals. In nearly all good target cases there is that separation. Also, you can investigate further by increasing the recovery number to see if you can separate the iron trace from a possible target. If not, just don't dig. This flies in the face of a bit of info in the Manticore manual but if it works.......
  15. Strick, this isn't drama. CD should try some of the other things NASA-tom suggested to see how much they mitigate the problem. CD is going over the top a bit, but the Manticore manual shows some of these exact traces to unmask hidden good targets. Believe what you want, though. BTW, several have stated the Manticore is $600 more than the Nox 900. By my math, the difference is only $500. Not that it matters.
  16. In the field test (2nd video) he was running All Terrain Low Conductors that NASA-Tom told him to try to mitigate the iron falsing. But he didn't try the 5 or 6 recovery speed, nor the manual ground balance nor the beach low conductors that were also suggested to try by NASA-Tom. Maybe CD just didn't have the time since he said he needed to leave to go to work. So, CD gets an incomplete on his analysis of the solution to the problem.
  17. CD just put up his videos on the iron falsing. The TT is definitely providing some faulty information in heavy iron sites. Not having a Manicore to test myself, I can't say there isn't a way around this as recovery speed was set one notch higher than NASA-Tom suggested but from what is being shown, there is a problem with the TT in heavy iron. This needs to be addressed a little more clearly by others with a Manticore. I'm not going to link to his video given his history I've been made aware of at DP but if you want to see the two videos he posted today just check them out on youtube.
  18. Tell your dealer you are thinking about cancelling your order because you feel you are way down the list. That may make him divulge your position on the list.
  19. And have you noticed in the videos that most Australians run the Manticore coil backwards? I guess it doesn't make any difference. I would just get really tired of walking backwards all the time.
  20. I think performance between the 900 and the Manticore is very close. The two things that turn me off to the 900 aren't even performance issues. First, that red screen backlight would drive me crazy. I don't see the TID and other indicators as clearly (judging from the videos) and I don't like it. Second, I am more of a visual information processor than a tone processor. So, the TT screen will be very important to me when processing a dig/no-dig decision. Of course, on the beach you just scoop everything that isn't iron so visual queues aren't that important.
  21. Strick, CD has reported that he is getting excessive falsing with the Manticore in older sites with old iron nails. Have you experienced a lot of falsing around heavy iron or nails?
  22. This is what I picture most of you doing with your Manticores by the time Minelab gets them to you. In English, of course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtqX3F3BhoM
  23. People need to get off of their social media computer pages and get out and lose some coins and jewelry in the parks and on the beaches like the old days!
