  1. Strick, I think the manual says to pass over the target a couple times in pinpoint mode to calibrate it first. Then try to pinpoint.
  2. LOL Yeah, psychology on market participants is a killer for most. Hence the adage, (paraphrased) "Buy when nobody wants it and sell when everybody does." I'm afraid I broke the posting record for December - at least in the Minelab forum. If I ever get my Manticore, my postings will drop precipitously.
  3. If you make a dime on anything here in the U.S. the government wants their piece of it. And they recently passed a bill to hire, I think, 87,000 more IRS agents to go after us. If you sell something for more than you paid for it, that is a taxable profit. It's best to keep purchase records if you don't want to get taxed on the whole sales price.
  4. You guys seem to be forgetting that Mr. Ebay also can deduct his cost of the Manticore and expenses like shipping and the eBay fee. So, he isn't going to be taxed on his entire sales price.
  5. You must have better eyes than most of us. I couldn't see a dime if it were laying on top of the ground right in front of me. My dog knows to stay away from me when I'm standing. I've mistaken her for a rug on many occasion.
  6. I think there is a new CTX-3030 in the works. Who knows if they will put something revolutionary in that or not. I suspect it is probably a year away but who knows. Minelab could decide to announce it before we even get our Manticores.
  7. Not a peep from the email I sent to Minelab Americas about shipments a couple days ago. Today and tomorrow I will send out a few feelers to see if I can get an answer as to whether there is a chance we might see our Manticores in the U.S. by Christmas. I'll report if ANYBODY gives me the time of day. phrunt, I hope you are making some progress on getting your Manticore shipped to you from your Aussi dealer. All I can say is, "I feel your pain."
  8. longbow62, didn't you say you have been on the Manticore waiting list since August or so? I think you are just experiencing the frustration all of us Pre-Order groupies are experiencing. Several times I have considered pulling my order and forgetting about the Manticore until spring. I don't know why these detector manufacturers put us through this.
  9. I've been sort of watching what dealers in the UK and EU are saying and it seems like they are in the same boat with us in the U.S. Seems like this is SOP for Minelab and other detector manufacturers. Too bad because it doesn't have to be this painful.
  10. Thanks strick!! It seems you are the only one on this forum with a Manticore and you are working hard to do searches, tests and get info posted here and reply to our questions. I really appreciate the work you are doing with us in mind.
  11. I believe hundreds of Manticores were in the Minelab shipments that arrived at Norfolk, VA on Friday and Monday. The Distributor (not my dealer) told me that they haven't heard anything from Minelab yet. I think Minelab America is dragging their feet and we may not see these detectors until after Christmas. (sorry, Chase, I have enough evidence to believe this to be the case) Also, someone in Florida posted a pic of his Manticore that he received from Kellyco this week. He stated he was #4 on Kellyco's list so I presume Kellyco received at least 4 Manticores while nationwide distributors only received 7 each. Just FYI.
  12. Well those are all pretty close. Nothing over 99 and nothing under zero. That narrows it down! I would like to know if the rings are coming in as a near perfect dot on the TT like a coin or if some of them are more spread out it you can speak to that, strick.
  13. I've lived through my 50's and I'm living through my 70's. Believe me when I say being in your 70's is NOTHING like being in your 50's. For instance. In your 50's you can climb a ladder and put up Christmas lights. In your 70's you can still climb a ladder but you will see the world spinning on its axis.
  14. I don't know if that is a Lesche but it looks like it wasn't welded or hardened properly. I've dug up stumps with mine without a problem.
  15. I have one of those little Lesche shovels. They are pretty tough. There's no bending to them.
  16. Mental Metal finds a few targets in the wild. Some include coins near iron. I think this video might help you initially learn what to expect from your Manticore. Assuming there are any Manticores on the way to us.
  17. Merry Christmas, basstrackerman, and to everyone else here. If you haven't noticed, that 10 year old, gota-have-it-now, is still alive and well in me.
  18. This video by Calabash Digger provides a lot of info on what the Manaticore screen shows with various programs on the numerous coins (some with iron) in his test garden. Very informative.
  19. If they did, they are not there now.
  20. I would check with a few more aussi dealers and see if any have one in stock. They seem to have gotten a lot more there than here in the U.S. Of course, more than 14 means more than we have here.
  21. The Kellyco website has a check mark by the in-stock button, too. I checked with them but they said they got a few in but have a long, long line on their waiting list. My dealer seems to only answer emails once a day and doesn't have a clue when he will see any. I think I chose poorly.
  22. I must have too much time on my hands. I emailed my dealer and two distributors about the Minelab shipments from Friday and Yesterday but nobody seems to know how many Manticores they may receive or when. I was told by one dealer that they received 7 to fill 700 order which we already knew about but they have no idea on what's coming yet. If I hear something new, I'll report it here. I know many of us are hoping for a pre-Christmas arrival. It's looking slimmer by the day.
  23. Strick, your Manticore needs a bath!! Good detecting (and digging) though.
  24. Thanks, Jeff. I'll take a look. I might digest all of this for a while before deciding what's going to work best for me.
  25. And, another Minelab container of metal detectors arrived at Norfolk, VA yesterday, December 12th. It doesn't say how many pallets but the weight was about 1000 lbs more that the weight of the 23 pallet container. METAL DETECTORSHS CODE: 8531.80.9051INVOICE N O: MLU888181 Surely our Manticores are in one of these two deliveries! I've emailed my dealer again to see what he can find out. I'm sure he is tired of hearing from me.
