    Understandable,

I have an 800 (now dead bad on/off switch) and a V540! Both good machines, but I'm not replacing them with ML's

I don't think I'm punishing them at all, they could care less if they loose my business! (Part of the problem)! I just refuse to give them another dime! Quality control was/is a huge issue for the 800; that was my 3rd pod! And replaced two 11" coils for broken ears! So yeah, done!! Gonna sell off my remaining coils and shafts, and move on!🍀👍👍

My 800 leaked the first time in water.  I was sent a new head and I sold the machine.

  2. I have been test driving the Double Score and have uploaded 2 vids on my findings.  My youtube channel is mowerdog.

I don't own a Legend but have been around one.  I have owned an 800 though.  I would place the Double Score just under the 600.  I can tell you this so far.  It's a super performer and deep with accurate TID.  Watch my vids because there are some issues.  But for $400 a person can make it work just fine.  I've just ordered a SC24 coil.  I think this combo will ge great.  The stock 12 inch coil is too big for general hunting.

Is this something that can be implemented through a software update?  My guess is 'yes'.  We can always hope for that.  But a lot of people need to speak up, and/or maybe the right people....

I made mention to one of the testing engineers.  He said it has been noted to ML and I'm not the only one with concerns.  You can't give us great tools to create awesome programs with basically no place to store them.

This is exactly why I feel as if there will be a newer version of the CTX coming out over the course of the next year.  They are offering the Minelab user altogether better features than the Equinox had, with 2D technology, better waterproof rating, better depths and discrimination, underside led light, and collapsible carbon fiber rod system, oh and lets not forget their MULTI-IQ+.  One cannot sit here and think that they are not working towards the next great CTX option.

It's been hinted that eventually the Manticore will become the mid range machine.  But not being able to save a few global fe/co programs seems a bit cheezy to me.

😁 more accurately is what mode on Manticore will you use if :

    a) Your Main targets coin ID's at:

              i)  15 to 22 (coins dated around 600 years)

ii) 45 to 55 (these coins are around  400 years)

iii) 60 to 75 (dated around 300 years that doesn't hold much value to you but collectors interested in it)

    b) You've got 6 hours windows to detect

    c) The site is mineralized and conductive due its location near the sea.

    d) The site was heavily detected with many type of metal detectors over the years

    e) its a time/distances constrain site

Would love to know your take on these with little information's/experienced on you regarding the manticore  😊.

Discrimination is time management.  Make you a coin program in AT general and hunt.  Disc out 0-12,  25-42,  80-99.

  6. After having the machine in my hands I will explain what I have found.

1- You can edit and save 4 ferrous limit patterns.  These patterns are global.
2- You can customize 1 discrimination pattern for each search mode.  This disc pattern is not global.
    3. You can save only 1 custom search mode to favorites

    My critique is this -

Why not give us 4 global disc patterns - preset and custom 1,2,3 and 4 just like the ferrous limits?  How about a "combine" feature?
Why limit it to just 4?
When you scroll to custom ferrous pattern 1,2,3 and 4 the front page image doesn't change showing you the pattern?  You must open each one up to see the pattern.

I consider a discrimination pattern as being both ferrous and conductive disc patterns combined such as on an etrac
I would have liked to see the Manticore set up to easily migrate disc/ferrous patterns into any search mode you choose.

    One other note......

I feel that ML seeing the by product of the height of the newly designed arm cuff made the claim the added height was for ergonomics.  The same goes for tilting the hand grip forward a little more as well.  The result is the new angle and added cuff height hasn't really changed the combined angle.

I'm not bashing here.  I like the machine.  Possibly a machine that may dethrone what I believe to be the best coin machine made - the etrac.

I just ordered my wife a Vanquish 540.  I am hoping it's a step up from her old Whites Classic ID she has been hunting with.

I saw that some people have converted their Vanquish and other detectors to a straight shaft.

I have never used a straight shaft before so I was wondering what the advantage is and has anyone converted their Vanquish to a straight shaft.

    Thanks for any comments.

Personally I like the feel and control I get with an s shaft instead of a strait shaft for Pod grip.

  8. I know this is an old thread but - The RNB was the best accessory I've ever purchased for my etrac.  I could leave my etrac in my truck for months in the cold of winter.  Then pull it out on a decent day to hunt and the RNB battery was always full.  Plus it was lighter making the etrac weigh under 4lbs.  I bought the RNB for my Vanquish for the same reasons.  Plus taking the rechargeable AA batteries out to charge will soon be a pita.  Now all you have to do is leave the RNB in place and plug it in.
