If you love paying sales tax then go order from some we have talked about in the past that know nothing about what they selling to you.
We have Minelab dealers on here that been selling Minelab detectors for years and make a point like Gerry to know what he’s selling. Heck you don’t have to believe me because the proof is in the pictures that’s Gerry’s posted again and again.
What Gerry just posted on the sale price of both detectors is a great thing for us the customer.
I thank you Minelab.
Chuck
PS Vets don’t forget your 15% discount. That’s 15% off that sale price. You ask for it like I told my kids the most I can say is no . Minelab isn’t going to .
That's right my friend. No Sales Tax outside of Idaho and you know me. As a proud USMC Veteran, I do offer of the 15% Military Discount with proper documentation to all who have served.

Just curious Gerry, when did Minelab officially start this deal?
April 18th Australia time (about 7 hrs ago) when we could start posting prices.
We were allowed to post the Teaser 14th.
How come you have not called me yet and purchased one?

Minelab Manticore Only $1199, not an April Fools joke. Minelab Equinox 900 with 2 coils only $999. Yes I have a few M8 and M15 coils left. Call Gerry's Detector now at 208-345-8898.
Why you evening looking at Mail Order & Amazon dealers who don't actually use these detectors for a variety of hunts and has Success? But some of you will and that's ok as it leaves much more treasure for those of us who know how to properly use these detectors.
Call Gerry's Detectors 208-345-8898 now and get them ordered. I already know a few places have run out.
As you can see from my Success, I use the Manticore for a variety of detecting styles and hunts. I can help you learn the detector sooner and hopefully shine with some wonderful Treasures of your own.

I searched a bit but was unable to find any specific XRF analysis of Rye Patch Chevron nuggets, has anyone come across this? I’m really interested in what the mineralogy aspects are of them. Also, do these occur anywhere else in the US?
I don't have an XRF analyzer.
I have seen some similar in a certain area in California that's very close to Reno. Also, some Chevron pattern gold has come from Venezuela and it's spectacular as well.
Yes it would be interesting to learn how these rare pieces of art actually form.

Wow that is a spectacular piece of gold. Thank you for sharing Gerry.
The most amazing one I seen from RP was a 1 ozt. Stood about 1.5" tall and was a triangle with 3 sides and a bottom. Most amazing chevron on all 3 sides. The finding was an old friend from Reno area that used to stay down there weeks at a time in the 90's.
The amazing piece in the pic below was recovered by one of my Field Staff just a few miles down the road. Beautiful gold has come from that country for sure. This is a pic looking from top of the rock, notice the hole.
Pic below is the bottom of the same nugget. Most interesting, there is a hole right in the middle that goes all the way through.
Left is 1.5 ozt and the right one is 1/2 ozt.
Glad you enjoy seeing something different.

One of the hardest things to do at Rye Patch NV proper, is to find a specimen gold piece attached to quartz.
Not sure how many of my Rye Patch NV swinging buddies are left from the mid 90's but we all have agreed on a couple things when it comes to gold at RP. Chevron gold is the most desired and valuable. There have been some amazing high dollar pieces discovered at the patch.
Specimen gold on the other hand (gold and quartz mixed) is most rare to find at Rye Patch than many realize, why is that? I personally have found thousands of nuggets and have seen 10X dug up from all the local legends back then. But to see a piece of gold with quarts on it that came from RP, just does not seem to happen. There's big quartz boulders and quartz pockets scattered all over that area. Heck, one of the locals (Peg-Leg) used to dig out some of the pockets to discover massive beautiful clusters and even single solid monster crystals, but he never found any with gold.
This is the largest specimen I have ever seen from Rye Patch proper and it was found in 2005/6 by one of my customers (Scott from Idaho) with a GP-3500 right near the burn barrel.
As for me and all the thousands of nuggets I've collected in my 30 yrs of detecting RP, I have only found 2 small nuggets in the 2 to 3 gram range that had a piece of quartz attached.
Anyone else seen specimen gold come from Rye Patch? Do any of you geology experts know why we are not seeing it happen more often, especially with all the quartz rocks and crystal pockets that are exposed out there?
On a side note - My 1st of 2024 Rye Patch Field Training is coming up next weekend. Anyone wanting to learn some real hands on Field Knowledge and up your chances of finding that beautiful and expensive rare gold, contact Gerry's Detectors at 208-345-8898 for details.

Glad to see some more Au bits coming from Rye Patch.
Yes, a group of my previous customers were out there and I think they all found a few.
I'll be offering our 1st of 2024 the group 3 Days Field Training next weekend so we should hopefuly get a little dryer weather and my Field Staff/I will be sharing knowledge on gold capable detectors.
If you get the chance, swing by and show of some of your Au.
Nice finds Lundy.

Yes that's the best so far 4.1 grams. Laughable I know for some of you veterans.
You find your biggest and best nugget of your metal detecting career and are so emotionless, it's kind of funny.
I personally know so many folks who hunt gold and have yet to find a 3 gram nugget, let alone an 1/8th oz'er.
Well done my friend but hopefully you'll get a little more excited next time. Now I realize you have dug more gold rings and gold coins than most could image as well, so maybe the big excitement of a nugget is not as meaningful? Here's a fact for you, that size nugget is way more rare than a gold ring or even a gold coin find.
Still very impressive for you Andy and thanks for the video.

Glad to see you enjoying the Axiom and finding some nice gold.
Is that your best piece so far Andy?
For those who don't know, he's been chasing old coins/relics/rings for many years, but the pursuit of gold nuggets is pretty new (the last few years) to Andy.
Well done my friend.

Most interesting facts for me about the GB-2.
Even though it's known for being the superior tiny gold getting VLF detector, especially when used with the smaller 6" coil, I was fortunate enough to score one of my best Oregon finds with one a few years back.
Sometimes it's just getting in the right area and being the 1st to swing a coil over a rock that beeps.

The only noise that has ever been worse than my tinnitus is that God awful screechy threshold sound of the GB2 😃 But the detector is unmatched in very mild soil and shallow gold.
GC
The GB-2 has a Love it or Hate it relationship with many. It's my favorite VLF to train customers on as I can toss a small piece of gold in front of them and most newbies can't find it. After the 3 days Field Training, the customers are so in tune, they're loving it and finding gold.
Gold only detector, for the masses I would much rather sell a GM-1000. For those few who want to Succeed much sooner and be dialed in with their detector, it was the GB-2. Now the Equinox 800/900 and 24K have taken over GB-2 sales for the most part as they can do more, tell you more and handle a variety of soils better than GB-2.

Aye we sold them for around a tenth of their current value, thought it`d go on forever.......... our legs that is.... 😉
Just imagine a new detector that would provide us the same success we had in the 90s with our SD-2100 or GP-Extreme. Those days were incredible, even here in the US.

My Field Staff Experts and I appreciate all the kind words. Yes we know Gold Detectors to the tee. Yes Rye Patch NV is mostly cleaned out and the pickings are slim. But we do find gold and have never done a course that no gold was found.
Now I'm a straight shooter and pull no wool. It's the Training, Knowledge shared and learned. It's the building of confidence on your detector. Those are most important to me for our customers to walk away knowing.
The best location means nothing if you don't know the detector, it's capabilities and pros/cons. YES we teach Cons of ones detector as well. No use swinging if that kind of gold is invisible to the detector.
The top price detector does you no good for same reasons mentioned above. It's much more important to have Detector Field Knowledge and be confident.
Do most folks pay for training? No. That's exactly why most folks who have purchased gold detectors have yet to find gold. Education my friends will save most folks alot of trips, wear & tear, and gas money.
Why do I say this with confidence? In the early 90s I had over 15 yrs of successful detecting experience. But not at finding gold nuggets.
Even though I was swinging detectors in 70s and 80s with great success, chasing gold was new. Then started hunting Au in 90s and 2 yrs later still ZERO gold. 3rd yr I paid for Training and have been finding ounces ever since. Funny thing, I was and still am finding gold at those same locations I 1st tried on my own with no Success.
I do have some openings for the April class as a group of 5 just canceled. My Field Staff Experts and I are ready to spread the knowledge.
May a few of your deep digs be golden.
Pic is over an ounce of Northern Nevada gold I found my last trip there. That was November of last yr.

It's time to dust off the Fisher Gold Bug-2 with 6" coil.
Spot price gold today broke $2300 US.
Things are getting a little scary for that to happen, in my opinion.
But back to Au and those lovely light weight, cost efficient, tiny bits of gold getting detectors. My personal favorite is the 25 yr old Gold Bug-2.
Why we have not seen any improvement of that detector in so long is just silly. But at least it's still out there. Sure, today's masses of new Swingers don't know it's capabilities and or fine tuning features. They're swinging the popular GM-1000, Equinox 800/900 and 24K.
Some of the smaller brands are also quite effective as well, especially with small sniper coils.
If these Au prices hang around, you folks might start seeing me sharing Gold Bug-2 Success, one little itty-bitty bit at a time.

Chuck, Those stores who used to educate the staff are almost non existent. It's also the same with the detector manufacturers these days. Yrs ago the manufacturer would have training classes the dealers were required to pass in order to sell the new model of detector. That was yrs ago with a different management.
Today, it's all about moving the product and making a buck. Ethics have been tossed to the curb. Customers have YouTube.
Yes many detectors can be picked up on Saturday at yard sales, eBay, Market Place. I feel most folks selling them had no clue what they were purchasing in the 1st place. I'll blame them for their lack of success.

Both detectors 6 vs 7, have their strengths and weaknesses. When the GPX-6000 was 1st introduced into the Goldfields in the United States, it was easily the King of recovering missed gold of the GPZ-7000.
As time has progressed and the options of smaller lighter coil options for the GPZ, it's showing more small gold capabilities (at an expense). Sure wish the coil manufacturers would be a little easier on the wallet, but at today's gold prices, they can get away with it.
Sometimes just the change of Settings will help gather a few more nuggets and that's why so many hard core hunters realize, a site is never 100% hunted out. Heck, just a simple thing as soil moisture content or EMI, can easily effect a detectors capability and miss a nugget that otherwise would have been heard.
Very interesting read and just goes to prove that not 1 detector is best for all situations.

At these prices, even the little GPX-6000 bits are worth collecting.

About two years ago I bought a Chinese Mental Detector for some $40 thinking they are all the same. Kind members of this forum quickly set me straight and I got Vanquish 440. By no means I'm experienced or even succesful, but I have a technical background and the interest and the time to read about metal detecting, ask questions, experiment with settings, and be happy swinging. And I think by now I know enough to appreciate the complexities involved in metal detecting.
Now the problem: I've been asked, obviously being an expert :-), by a friend as to what fun detector to buy for his wife so that she could look for things mostly around their summer house in a forest in Europe (and maybe later elsewhere, like on a beach). To my eye the ground there is mild, but I don't really know. She probably doesn't want to look for anything in particular, just explore what may be under ground. The detector should be sufficiently easy to use so that she doesn't get discouraged at first and not super expensive as he is not sure if his wife would like the new hobby.
The question I got was if the Xterra Pro was the right choice. He also looked at the Simplex Ultra. My answer was that the Vanquish 340 or 440 may not look as modern, but she may have a better luck with it as it may be simpler to set and more stable to operate and read.
Am I wrong? Is there something else that I should have said?
X-Terra Pro would be a strong choice as it has a variety of coil options from all 4 of the Equinox detectors (600, 700, 800 & 900) as all those coils will work with X-Terra Pro. Also, the 100% Waterproof feature is nice.
Yes the Simplex is a similar priced detector that is very popular as well. I don't sell as many of them so I can't tell you the Pros/Cons of each, but I think coming from Vanquish to X-Terra pro would be easier than to a Simplex.
Hopefully this helps and wishing you luck.

Still time to take advantage of the Super Anniversary sale on the Manticore & Equinox 900.
I just returned from the 3 Days Field Training and the Manticore really impressed us with the small M8 coil and the tiny gold nuggets we were able to recover with it. I'll post picks in a few days when I get caught up.
We had some happy customers who were able to recover their 1st gold with a detector and the Manticore shined through.
