  1. Makro has has made a wonderfully intuitive interface. The original racer menu is a delight to access and navigate. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you try it first hand, once you do, wow! If other manufacturers only take notice of one thing, I hope this is it.
  2. I have to agree with auminesweeper on one thing. I love knobs and dials! I really like the quick precision adjustments that can be made to be just on the edge. Maybe Whites will come out with a truly miniaturized mxt with all the same controls in a lighter package! But I also think it's apples to oranges. There's probably more in the pipeline from Whites, it seems they're not resting on their laurels.
  3. I'm seeing a lot of potential in the mxs. The only thing it's missing for me is a tighter coil. I'll hold out on my final judgment when I get one to try out. FYI most of the time I use the racer with the 5 or 5x10 coil, not only by choice but by necessity. For what it is though the mxs will work with the bigger coil, most of the time I find I need to dial back the sensitivity a bit to navigate the high trash.
  4. I noticed an interesting anomaly when air testing last night. I was using coin and jewelry and waving a coin and nail "down rhe barrel" in front of the coil. When close to the coil it would not see the coin thru the nail but when further from the coil the signal would start to come through. This was in four tone so the signal corresponded with the coin. I also found that when hot rock and ground were disced and disc volume set to 10+ it would give a different signal then just nail. Threshold set to audible helped.
  5. I ordered one of the R2's after using the red racer for the past year. I'm excited to try it out as a jewelry machine. I plan on raising the iron disc to just cover small foil, putting the high tone in the middle and the mid tones copper penny and up. Then set the iron audio low. I think Steve mentioned something similar.
