  1. In my area silver coins tend to be 7- 10 inches in depth. I rarely pay that much attention to the VDI number exactly. If the tone is good and the depth meter is reading deep, then I figure it's good and go for it. Often times I pass over targets that are shallow, and focus on the faint signals,if the machine has modulated audio. If it does not I'll use the running depth gauge or a quick pinpoint depth as an indication. I get a lot of good targets doing this, and dig a lot less can slaw etc.. at old parks and schools that are still visited frequently.
  2. I haven't had a chance to test it on the salt. I'm looking forward to it though. I'll have to talk to the camera girl and see when she's ready for another trip. I've tested one machine this year at the beach, and it was 29 degrees! Rooms were cheap :)
  3. It discriminates well. It's like most machines, as the targets get real deep the ID will jump around, and you can get some stuff jumping into different categories. At the average spots like parks etc., the disc works very well for common trash items. The target ID is in line with other machines on the market. It seems like most single frequency machines don't lock on to targets that are past 7 inches or so. At least in my dirt. I've always paid much more attention to the tone than the TID for the most part. If it's deep and the tone and Id try to stay up there, I'm going to dig it up. I often try to focus solely on the deep stuff, and the MX Sport did well in that aspect. I think as more people get there time in on the updated machine, they are going to have similar results. It will get the 9 inch coins like I dug in the video.
  4. I did dig trash of course, but didn't bother showing it off in the video. It takes a while to edit and upload, so I cut out a lot of the junk to save myself some time and keep the video a decent length. The average view time on YouTube is pretty low really, so I try to keep my vids below 15 minutes unless it's a full review.
  5. The machine was actually over some large trash objects in that particular shot. There was lots of sheet metal and other objects from a dilapidated house and shed on and in the ground. I noticed some response from the pinpointer, but nothing out of the ordinary. I've seen the same thing with most of my machines when I was that close to the coil. Whites did let me try a machine. As you can see from my channel I try to test out as many as I can. My personal unit that I bought is going back for the update.
  6. I just tested the updated Mx Sport, and am extremely happy with the results! The recovery speed is very good. I was running it against my F75 Ltd, and it could hang with it! I've been through every mode, in ground testing, air testing, and I can't find a thing wrong with It. It's a superb performer and value at this price point and beyond. I could play a song with this thing in 20 tone mode, it's good. I've had coins extremely close together and it will pick them out at a very brisk sweep speed. This update is a real game changer for this unit in my opinion! If you've seen my channel, you know that I've used and reviewed many units. This version is very good. I feel confident that I could hunt with anyone without a worry. I just pulled a large cent out of extreme trash with this unit. I'm very satisfied with the results of the changes Whites has made. Remember that there have been growing pains with units from many manufacturers. Faulty coils, no cam locks, pinpoint bugs. All sorts of issues from different companies. I give Whites a great deal of credit for jumping on this quickly, and fixing it! Top quality company that stands behind their products.
