White’s this is no joke I drove 600 miles to Oklahoma to hunt with a friend coin hunting.

I’ve been swinging my Sport and been doing great. I couldn’t ask for a better detector but at 77 with both over weight my hunt time is getting shorter.

I’m going to work at it getting the weight off of me but I too need your help getting the weight off the detector I swing.

I know the Sport is waterproof but I think it’s best if I get wet just in the shower from now own. Well that’s not true when I beach hunt .

I would say White’s needs to make a detector for old farts like me but the words Senior Citizen sounds better .

I’d like it equal if not better than my Sport but just trim down the fat off of it . I know the MX 7 has less weight but not near enough of what I’m talking about. Please don’t cut down on the screen size because that’s one thing is old guys like .

I’m going to let you think about what I said and I if you you can do get back with me .

I’ve already got a name for it and that is

                      S C 2.5 ( Senior Citizen 2.5  lbs. ) haha

Don't forget the 10% off senior citizens discount!

  2. Just wanted to to tell the forum that I received my machine back from Tesoro repair department with a handwritten note stated what issues it had and that it was repaired. I reversed the credit card dispute and I don't know what's up with them. Godspeed to Tesoro I hope they can work out their business issues.

  3. Well after repeated attempts to contact all departments at Tesoro with no response. I filed a credit card dispute for the items I purchased and a repair since I don't know if they are sending my machine back to me. In all honesty if Tesoro wanted to go out on a positive note they should reflect on their website their situation or at least tell people that have their machines or money tied up with them. If they are selling the company they could at least state corporate restructuring. And to what capacity someone is going to do repairs either under warranty of fee based.

TID's are roughly the same; but then I never considered the Nox to be very accurate on ID's.  No compiling of statistics, but my prediction success rate as to which coin it will be seems the same with the small coil.  The 6" coil performs in iron and in tight places, no doubt about that.  My only gripe is that it isn't a bit bigger, say 6x8".  Covering ground with the 6" looking for coins is a lot like using a golf club.

I played golf once. I stepped on a rake and hit two good balls!

I've been following that direction from many.  Dig we must.  I wonder about the 6in coil option.  My 800 at least has been putting me on the spot more than not. When I ultimately find a target, if I've kept my original X bearings the original location the 800 pointed out has been that perfect. The trouble seems to start once I break ground and the new variables come into play during double checks on the way down. The coil can't be swung as needed in a hole, or likely doesn't fit in at all. Swinging above the hole the detector is seeing ground over the targets on the left and right of the swing, and almost nothing over it in the middle.  We are just begging for confusing it. Didn't stop me from trying to relocate and messing myself up.

Both the carrot and the 35 have really helped and taken a lot of the mystery out of it for me.  I went from chasing magical moving targets to finding exactly what the equinox originally pointed out very quickly.

Which brings me to the 6in coil.  I'm not keen of the idea of swapping coils and then trying to scan a large area with a smaller coil, just to get that ability to get closer in a hole or closer to a wall.  But I wonder if a second detector, maybe another 600 or 800, with a shaft cut ultra short could make a nice hand held extra tool that would be easy to carry around.    Really short shaft, also remove the arm rest extension, 6 in coil, hang it off the belt?  Maybe someone has already done such a thing?  Maybe it's a over costly solution when the pinpointers work so well already.  But could it double as a good diver/river setup as well?

I think you are overthinking the pinpointing thing.  Just relax be patient and X the target. Make a mental note on a point on the soil where you get the strongest signal. The NOX has a dual bar graph that will help you and can also ratchet down to a smaller area. Then use the handheld pinpointer on that spot on the soil before digging and in close proximity to it. It may zero right in on your target and give you a really close dig point. Using the handheld digging tool dig a 3" crescent shape 3/4ths around and as deep as you can go then pry up the soil and see if you have your target. Or using a hand weeding tool or a screwdriver just pop it out of the soil. Sometimes your treasure will slip down to the bottom. Continue to use the handheld until you find it. Sometimes small old rusted away things disappear. But if something gives a good signal it's there. Usually something very tiny that moves around. Or you might have already taken it out of the hole and tossed it off to the side like an earring back. Other times its a large deep target that shows a strong small signal that you have to decide to dig down for. When I'm in an untraveled area, field or a place where finesse doesn't come into play bring a slim shovel and just scoop it out. Swing the coil over the pile you removed and go from there. Use a scoop when beach hunting an always position the scoop before the target and at an angle that you would most likely intersect it. Sand is another animal so be more patient. I never really used a handheld for most of my recovery because they weren't invented yet. Now I can't live without it. I saves time, labor and is kinder to the area you are recovering from. This method must be used on nicely kept lawns Please cover your tracks always and pick up and discard the trash. I find that picking up even litter goes a long way in this hobby when people see you policing the area. It's the right thing to do anyway. This hobby is for enjoyment. If you get frustrated you're gonna have a closet queen detector. If I find myself getting obsessive and disappointed I head for the car. I see lots of people finding really nice things on here. I used to find crazy silver in the 70s and 80s. I Only actually found one fantastic gold and diamond bracelet and a few wedding bands. Been very dry for the last 2 years but that's how it goes. So slow down relax enjoy the scenery. Let your mind wander and listen to what the machine is telling you. It'll happen don't worry. Good Luck!

That's a pretty cool idea! You might be a little careful though with the Cling Wrap, the control box does emit a certain amount of heat and I've noticed with the cloth cover, it's still breathable enough so that the box doesn't get too hot. Not sure how that would work on a really hot day, but maybe it would be fine!

You don't have to encase the whole pod just the face. Like stretching over a dish.

Probably not, Usb killers take the 5v from the (VCC) wire and charge their capacitors to 200v and then send that 200v down the positive data wire (+D) which was never designed to take power.  A lot of modern usb products have protection from this as faulty chargers can also blow ports.

The Nox wasn't designed to output power from it's USB so if you used an adapter to plug one of these killers into your Nox charging cable it will do nothing as the Nox isn't outputting any power.

Wouldn't want to test the theory out! LOL!

  8. Just shipped my middle and upper shaft to Minelab in Illinois. Got a confirmation that they will inspect, repair and return them. They apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Can't do any better than that! The shafts didn't wobble but were twisting and the cam locks wouldn't tighten enough to take up the space. They asked for the serial # so I figure some units have the issue. We'll see and I will keep you posted.

UPDATE! Got the rods back from Minelab in Illinois. The new rods have the same O.D. as the old ones. The cam locks have a thicker plastic protrusion to squeeze the rod and make it tighter. Much better than before. Thanks Minelab for acknowledging the issue and for the fast turn around. Yay!
