  1. In my personal experience, for the accessory coils that would generate the utmost demand, this is your TRI-FECTA!!

    Waterproof DD Search Coil - 26x14 cm / 10"x5.5"

    Waterproof Concentric Search Coil - 26x14 cm / 10

Waterproof DD or Concentric Search Coil - 19x10 cm / 7.5"x4"

    Waterproof DD Search Coil - 19x10 cm / 7.5

    Either a 7" or 9" Round Concentric:

    Waterproof Concentric Search Coil - 23 cm / 9

With these three coils, relic hunters, gold prospectors, jewelry hunters, and coil shooters alike will rejoice with a formidable selection of tools for the tasks at hand afforded by all of the well thought out detecting modes built into the Legend!

Build them and they will come 🙂

if u build it they will come « Outta Press NewZ

PS - and some big coils for the go big or go home crowd, you know who you are!  I think you have that already covered or in the works though 👍

Thats interesting.Who knows our paths may have crossed at some point in time? I became a serious antique bottle hunter, digger and collector in 1964 and got into detecting two years later.

I grew up in Lakeport, mom worked for 25+ years in Ukiah and Redwood Valley in the wine industry.  Was always over in the Ukiah area for one thing or another.  Only got into detecting about 15 years or so years ago though.

Great writing, story telling, and childhood experience and thanks for sharing.Back in 1977 my lifelong digging partner and I were detecting a small Churchyard in Ukiah California and I got a right on the surface signal with my trusty old whites coin master which turned out to be a 1909 S VDB.We both came to the conclusion that another digger had most likely hit a spill and missed it all together or had lost it once again.

I grew up near Ukiah California.

I broke my QED the first time I took it prospecting, I almost fell over and let go of the detector so I didn't go down, broke it's arm cuff from the drop.  I have my clutz moments a lot 🙂

I was talking about body blows, but yeah I've had some detector blows too 🙄  Was wading across a creek at a long gone old mineral springs resort and snapped the pistol grip on my CZ-70 Pro when I lost my balance crossing the creek.  They don't work well for a balancing pole haha  Oh well, luckily I had the belt mount clip and was able to continue detecting.

I could be wrong but I think that's a site that tries to push the detectors they have a bloated inventory on.  Bounty Hunter Platinum the best coin detector?  Even if you said "best coin detector under $400" I don't think that would be many peoples' first choice.  Heck, it probably isn't First Texas's best coin detector under $400.  But I bet they have a stack of them in the back room.  Either that or they can get them really cheap.  First Texas may be wanting to unload their inventory, too, so they can discontinue this model.

Caveat emptor has never been more true than in the social media internet age.

I totally agree that "top detector" list is nonsense haha

Isn't FTP manufacturing a JIT facility?  The current component shortages throw a wrench into the pot as well.

    Perhaps Geotech can weigh in.

..Another option for consideration is a 4"x6" concentric such as the one Fisher made for its F75 family -- same sweep coverage but with a narrow nose to fit between rocks, etc.)  And while we're at the wishing well, how about making it the full closed housing design like Cal_Cobra argues for above on the elliptical DD.  Even without vegetiation attacking from the top, scrubbing desert sand/soil leads to material building up inside the strengtheing webs when an open coil is mated with a solid skidplate -- very annoying and time wasting.  When used for prospecting, some prefer dropping material on top of the coil and listening for a response to find tiny nuggets -- another excellent reason for a fully closed coil housing.

That's a great little coil!  Much better than a round 6" although possibly not as deep 🤔

Agree with everything on the closed coil housing, it's a win-win design all the way around 👍

We do have a LG24 (9.5''X5.5'') in the works... other considerations are 9'' round and 12x9 or 10x7 elliptical...

If this is a closed loop DD design, that would be a great coil.  I like the LF24, but I like the GK26C far better for both relic hunting as well as getting the most out of the gold/prospecting modes on the Legend 👍

Does it preclude the use of wired phones like it does on the Legend?  If so, it's a no go for water usage, despite the battery itself being waterproof.  It's just not an accessory I see a need to pay for, even if discounted as part of a package deal, and like I said, not a fan of the 6" hockey puck accessory coil also included in with the pro pack. Just don't see a need to pay for accessories I don't need or want regardless of how good the package deal price is is on paper.  It's just my personal opinion and counterpoint to others who saw no sense in getting the standard package because of the favorable Pro Pack pricing. Nevertheless, I applaud Nokta for offering the choice of Pro and Standard options.  If a 10x5 coil existed and was offered in a package deal, then it might be a compelling offer to me despite my reservations about the external battery pack.

They often offer some additional sweeteners around the holidays, like another coil, pinpointer, diggers, etc.

PERSONALLY I REALLY WANT TO SEE THEM MAKE A WIRELESS INLINE PROBE FOR THE LEGEND!!!

Please give serious consideration to a Concentric coil. At least a mid size, 6-8". That would be an Industry leading option for a SMF detector.

They made a nice selection of Concentric coils on the Racers and MMK, I'm sure they'll make one for the Legend unless there's some technical reason they cannot.

Ouch! We all have out clutz moments that's for sure. Like the time I was so excited to pull my pick out of the holster I nearly knocked myself out! Wish I got that on film, it would have gone viral for sure 😅

I'm (knock on wood) surprised I haven't broken anything detecting before I've sure had my share of clutz moments, I'm glad that nobody saw most of them 🤕

  11. I haven't used 6 Tones on a machine before (my last NM detector was the MMK which IMO negated the need for an Amfibio or Simplex) but I think it works out.  I was hoping to use full tones for everything as that works well on the Equinox for me, but it seems like the Legend better utilized some of the lower audio options.  It's definitely not an Equinox clone as I've heard some folks claim on various forums.

I just watched Dilek's video.  Interesting choice of coils, I like the 9.5 x 5.5 DD Elliptical, hopefully it's a closed loop design, please.

I think FerroCHeck is useful.  I noticed in the video Calabash posted running the Legend through his test garden, and on the targets he said also had iron, the FerroCheck meter was getting lit up.  That mimics what my experience in the field has been.  Useful for crown caps. I see it providing data that'll be more useful with more practice as we experience it with a variety of targets and conditions.

I have more relic sites to test the Legend at.  It'll be a good relic machine, especially with all the coils Nokta Makro is looking at making.

I don't know if anyone else has had this detector in the salt water where there is a lot of iron but I was very Impressed by the audio, target assignment and overall processing.  This thing is fast and deep.--even in the MW preset.  It brought up targets in an area that NOX and Excalibur hunters had been in for days.  Unbelievable what you get for your money these days--a great value.  I ran at Sens 25 Speed 5 or 6, Stability 1 or 2 and experimented  with 4, 6 and 60 tones.  If anyone has done any testing to determine if the Legend  brings up targets  best at higher or lower Speeds--let me know.

    Clive,

Good insights. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the 4, 6 and 60 tone audio (which one did you like the best)?

The Legend's definitely not short on power, it's deep and when I field tested a sample unit at a sea of nails relic site, it seemed to handle small iron just fine without a lot of falsing.

  13. Does a new CTX make sense?   I suppose we won't know until if and when one surfaces.

I suspect the Equinox was far more successful than Minelab anticipated, it had to erode CTX sales.   In light of the success of the Equinox, what's the market for a new CTX (especially if it retains a similar list price to the current unit)?  If they don't go the same ergo/weight direction the Equinox took, I think they'll have a hard time selling heavy $2500 detectors that's cannot outperform an Equinox, unless they truly are a magnitude better than the Equinox, which I doubt will be the case.

Time will tell, all eyes will be on Detectival this fall 🙂

Or just a solid closed skid plate.

Better than nothing, but sometimes still gets tangled when maneuvering it around/under brush. That's the main reason I like a closed loop design, they work great for getting into nooks and crannies when hunting the bush without constantly untangling your coil from getting snagged on low hanging branches.

I suspect people who use the prospecting modes also prefer a closed loop design on an elliptical DD coil design like this.

Ditto Great News.  Will be looking forward to that.  Knowing Nokta has a track record for providing a great selection of accessory coils for its lineup heavily influenced my buy decision.

I started with the original Red Racer, then Racer 2, then their Impact and finally the Multi Kruzer before the Legend.  For the Racers and MK they had tons of accessory coils from Nokta Makro as well as a ton of aftermarket coils as well, great selection of coils.
