    If I'm correct 160W.

There's a series of "Boyu" or other brands models from 902 to 910 starting at 60W.

But most important thing is the minimum 0.12Mpa pressure and at least 100liters of air provided per minute.

Considering the "normal" air consumption of 30 liters per minute when scuba diving in less than 10 meters in depth, should be enough for the purpose. These numbers are purely to be personally tested.

Pressure however still remain the main pain with this pump. Normally, most of the Brownie's systems works with almost 3Bar...But there's almost no depth limit.

Thanks very much Skullgolddiver, checked online the ACQ 908 delivers 0.12 MPa pressure with 150 L/min. And the ACQ 910 0.12 MPa with 160 L/min. Thanks very much for your info and help!

I find the 906 gives me enough air for shallow diving and adequate battery life, I imagine the 910 would work well too but would use more power.

I bought a cheap adjustable regulator on line but you have to change to a lighter spring because of the low air pressure ( 16/17psi) I had to fiddle with it quite a bit to find the right balance.

It’s very important to dismantle the pump as much as possible and clean it and smooth out some of the rough castings, you will see a lot of particles inside but it’s a simple job.

Before I built mine I searched online for any information on 12v hookahs, there’s quite a bit there, I encourage anyone who wants to build one to do the same, There are a lot of naysayers, but it works fine.

Thanks very much for the helpful information!

This is actually the setup I was thinking to build.

Have You used the acq 906 or 910 model in your system?

I also want to use a pressure switch to stop the compressor when not needed.Unluckily the provided pressure is not enough without an air reserve box inline with the filters...But this can improve the battery consumption for almost an half more time compared with a continuous running pump.

Good job there, really clean and nice to see too.

Skullgolddiver can you tell how many watts the ACQ 910 is using per hr.

As soon as I get a chance I will post my results here. My beaches are a 2 hour drive and  most of them turn a blind eye to detecting before opening at 8 or 9 AM. They are starting to restrict detecting during operating hours. So that means getting up at 3 AM, driving 2 hours and detecting for 3 hours max and then home. So I'm debating if I want to do that. Now if someone wants to buy me a beach house down there, then I will definitely post for everyone 😄 But seriously, I will try and get a hunt in soon, as well as trying a land hunt for low conductors just for kicks. Disclaimer: I have zero hours on the AQ, so don't expect too much...I'm figuring 30 or so gold rings would be acceptable on a first hunt 😉

I have a girlfriend who has a beach house in Ventura California, only one major problem

We don't have an AQ ! Life just isn't perfect.

I apologize. I would say something similar in return. Not everything I say is about you, but more generalized in nature aimed at a wider audience. I’m actually referring to your reference of the video as much as anything, because it reflects what I was thinking when I saw the video, i.e. “oh, oh, people are going to misinterpret this as meaning more than it means.” Again, my apologies if I made it feel as if I were targeting you specifically in some way. That was not my intent. I’m probably just too close to the subject at the moment and need to lighten up and back off a little.

Please don't back off a little Steve, we all want to know what you have to say ! And we are adults and can't be to sensitive. You're a specialist in the detector field with so much experience, we can only dream off and we know you're telling the truth ,and say it the way it is! Go full blast, Go Steve.

I'm just glad Fisher has done it! They needed a new good detector, they're on the cuff of achieving it, 100 units going out for large scale testing by very experienced beach hunters that will likely give good feedback on any improvements necessary then a production run will take place and people will be able to buy the complete polished design detector.  It's all good news in my book and hopefully it leads to a new nugget detector based off the same technology which is sounding very likely.  Exciting times, I know it's difficult to be patient, however in this case it seems it will be worth the wait.  I look very forward to hearing about peoples experience with it.

    I agree a 100% with you phrunt.

That is not the problem. Not just anyone can buy one, and then ship it off wherever. At least not until the units are available for general retail purchase. And if that is the case, they will no doubt be available at local dealers overseas. First Texas may simply want this initial run kept close to home. Again, I'm not defending them in anyway, just laying out the situation as it appears to exist. Unless Rick approves the sale, it does not happen. He may be prohibited from knowingly selling a detector that would end up outside the U.S. and if so he can let us know one way or the other.

Sorry Steve, for the misunderstanding was not talking regarding the limit edition ,and understand that those do not count.

Thanks Steeve for your concern and info.I did use the link you post for contacting Fisher and write my thoughts and disappointment about the whole issue not been able to buy one in Europe.I know they do'n't care about what I wrote but it's better than be quiet.

Do you have family living in the USA or maybe know a prospecting body. They could help you out.

Send them the funds to buy the AQ in the US and have them send the unit to you this solves the problem ,not only for you but anybody living abroad, you just have to think out of the box.

Correction to this posting, this does not count for the limit edition only for the USA, only sold under special rules.

  9. Or maybe use a " jackery Solar Generator" in the field ,has build in inverter and you can charge the Jackery Solar Generator with the Jackery solar panel in the field or plug it in your car cigarette lighter socket. The Solar Generators are used for camping in the field. You can charge the AQ battery also straight from The Jackery Solar Charger since it also has a 110 AC socket, they are also used in boon docking they are very versatile and are available in different power version. Have a two year warranty and a dealer in  California, the factory is in China but the Jackery Company opened an office/service center in CA, if having any problems or returns it's easy peacy.

Have one myself at home and charge my detectors straigt from the unit since it has also usb out lets.

I have been lurking in the various threads about this machine for quite awhile!  It has been very frustrating with the on again, off again production release.  I must say that Fisher did not send out any Minelab type hype media as a teaser and for that I congratulate them.  Yes, I have watched the YouTube Impulse videos but it didn't appear to be a Fisher promotion only examples of performance.  Although I am reluctant to dive into something new on the market, it is my hope this machine will be a joy to use along the Atlantic beach coastline.  I rarely hunt more than 3 hours before needing a break and the waves are usually too strong for me to jump in deeper than knee level.  I threw my name into the hat and hope to be part of the lucky group of USA first users!

Well Fisher just had a difficult birth with the AQ, but it's not to late if they follow up Steve H. advice, start with the Wader version, and naturally the Land version, and the last but not least the Dive version which is harder to make and more expensive due to water pressure for diving.

But you never know Fisher still can see the light, and change !!! And I hope they will.

It does make a person wish there was some kind of internet search engine a person could use to educate themselves.  Not much you can do to help people who can’t bother with proper due diligence buying used products. Of course a buyer of a used unit need not agree to anything, but they should be aware of the service limitations of the unit. I’d certainly provide that information to anyone if I was selling the detector used.

If anyone buys one and wants to sell it used contact me for an easy sale. I would not mind having two, one for fresh water and one for salt water. And in any case I never travel to remote locations to water hunt without a backup. Lost a whole two weeks of hunting in Hawaii once to a new detector that leaked brand new out of the box... I won’t repeat that experience ever again.

Just like buying new shoes, if they are very comfortable you better buy two pairs!!

Unfortunatley  this limited edition  not going to sell outside the US, it doesn't matter now if DHL or other companies can deliver or not. It kind'a sucks for oss in Europe not being able to buy one. We have to wait God knows how long again for Fisher this time. And when it comes out the price may is more than doubled for sure. Sucks.....

Easy to solve this problem come and spend a holiday in our beautiful country, and do some detecting with your newly acquired AQ detector and be a a Happy camper.

Thanks Simon. I look forward to getting my hands on this detector and sharing what I can about it with you all. I think it is a good idea for Fisher, in that if they do this right they can use the feedback to get the final version dialed in properly. Lots of people have already pointed out the obvious limitations in this version, and Fisher listened to that and decided they are not done. They also don't want the work so far and money invested in the current version to go totally to waste. In my case I am honestly just fine with a wading version, which I am more inclined to do now with the locations easily available to me. A battery attached by a cable might even be better for me than a model with an integrated or attached battery of some sort. I will probably make a belt mounted 12 hour battery for my own use and having it connected via a cable actually makes that easy.

Most people are probably looking for videos and depth comparisons. I'm sure somebody will get on that, but I'm going detecting. My main plan is to use the discrimination features and go dig everything the machine says is good, and keep it all. We will find out just how good this much touted PI discrimination is in the real world and what junk it calls as good. There will be plenty; it is a PI after all and anyone expecting VLF type discrimination is going to be disappointed. For me though it is any possible technology advance in that regard that I am intrigued by. A PI that goes deep... I've used those. PI discrimination on the other hand is a long promised holy grail of the metal detecting world. What I'll be doing is going detecting and testing that by showing you what I find, the good and the bad.

And I'm going to go find a gold nugget with it just to say I did it.

Finally, thanks Rick and thanks First Texas for once again allowing me to play with cutting edge technology! Kind of icing on the cake of 45 years of good times metal detecting.

The way to go Steve, we know you will do an excellent job !! As you always do.

    So...

I'm out at the park this morning, detecting around one of the older trees.  Using the Vanquish 440, 'cause I'm being casual, and I like the "turn on and go" aspect of it, when I get a strong, but bouncy signal in the 28 - 34 range. So I pinpoint and start digging, and very close to the surface, I find a big rectangular piece of foil inside of an athletic sock.  First I think, Oooooo! Someone stashed some cash! I start peeling the foil and discover it is a cell phone.  I think to myself, well this isn't something someone lost, this was purposefully put here. Then I think, why would someone do this?! To hide SOMETHING!  I think the foil was an attempt to block any cell signal. So I stopped peeling the foil, and put it in a plastic baggie.  I'll take it to the police tomorrow.

I wish it had been cash...

Maybe you found a treasure which could be worth millions, the cell phone could store secret spy, or industrial espionage informations. When turning it in make sure that you claim the 10% finders fee incase it's worth something, you never know you could have hit the jackpot.

This notice just drove a stake in the heart of my hopes for having an Impulse to use anytime soon. I’m just going to put it out of my mind for now and plan on doing other things this summer. If it happens, great. Until that official notice appears there is just nothing more for me to say on the subject. I’m going to polish up my V3i with Bigfoot and hit the parks and sports fields instead of the beaches in my quest for jewelry.

    Just one last look......

The way to go Steve H,

I also let it go, no AQ for me anymore they lost me as a client, looking into the Aussie detector QED even without service in the US, when having problems I just send the pot in for service to Down under land, only concern I have is it needs certain adjustment/tuning, for use in gold country in the US what I read.  Steve H. Can you tell me what adjustment the QED needs to used in our gold country. I would appreciate any information on this, so I can ask the Aussie maker of the QED to make these ajustments. See this as my experiment for 2020 /2021, I also wouldn't mind to lend my QED as a test machine to you or any other experienced nuggett hunter for experiment testing.

Just want to tell you that I am not a dealer or interested in selling any detectors to prevent any misunderstandings,  wanted to do this pet project for a few years. Better do it now and don't want to postpone any pet projects, life is short and I don't know if the COVID19 virus gets me this year or next year! No waiting for me anymore, it' now or never!

Closer than you may think. The mounds of issues which caused a cascade of delays have been - bit by bit - at times painfully - knocked down.

At the extreme risk of being “the little boy who cried wolf” - I am modestly optimistic for a launch in the not distant future. Of course corona virus is a completely new issue and whether it is supply lines or the practicalities of keeping a factory full of hard-working assembly and administrative folks working the rough whatever comes out way - totally external factors may disrupt not only metal detector production and marketing but our lives in dramatic ways.

Yes the Corona virus can be a big problem if Fisher waits any longer, there won't  be many people left to buy the AQ since many of us older folks who are in the high risk factor will be gone, and are swinging our detectors in heaven.

  17. An advice for Fisher, they should hire Steve Herschbach as a sales and Marketing director on a contract basis for their promotion and sales etc. For the new AQ detector launch. At least we know things will be different and Steve can do some good brooming in the Fisher AQ team. (As they say new broom sweep clean)

Wink, wink , to Fisher Company!!! Fisher wake up and get your act together!!!!!

PS. And Steve H. Maybe can give a kick back to subscribers  of his website in the form of a 15% discount on the new AQ line detectors!  ( can't we keep on dreaming a little bit.)

  18. 10 hours ago, Cal_Cobra said:

I get that, and no offense is intended to Rick.  Its just that there's no point in a teaser comment with no info, yet we continue to get these kind of comments.

This has to be the strangest product rollout I've ever witnessed in my life.  Inventor promotes product for years, said product (and inventor) are purchased by FTP.

Then a non-FTP employee seems to be the mouthpiece for the company, but the message is usually "mum's the word".

Nobodies asking for a parachute debacle, but I can't be the only one that finds this to be the most bizarre product (non) launch in the history of detecting?

I agree with you, and the problem is with Fisher personally I think they should hire a professional PR guy, who can handle this, instead of people who can't handle their public relation and promotion of their products. I think for such a big company as Fisher their must be something wrong in the management!

Nothing personal to you or any others, but I prefer you all to direct the storm to Fisher and and not to Rick, who is just trying to help us .
