Mike, I have no doubts about the multifrequency Spectra V3 is a very good detector, and I also know you are  very experienced detectorist - not just because of the Spectra ... I  wrote 1.5 years ago on fore whites. usa need new SpektraV4 and use 4-5 F multifrequency, to select 2-3 frequency for best data, or corelate-the type of search -3f multi is still a compromise. I use Spectra and 10 coils, and it's my detector favors ..- but I have my deficiencies due to the speed of multifrequency, and rapid separation = signal.... Equinox has brought several answers .... and that's just fine ...
 

Equinox has 8 different programs - it means 8 different multifrekvenci specialized detectors ...for one price-   the detector is very stable, so there is no problem to do a special type of coil, for example a small 6 ", 6x10" gold coil, or 12x15 coil on the deep equinox is a good detector piece - a physics and mathematics can not be deceived - and that's good ..

I have a similar equinox impression from the test on my test garden, coin 50 eurocent - in 40cms, coin 1polsky grosz-15mm coin at -30 cm -mw low mineralized ground - so it works well recovery speed from 1-6, on a small coin 15mm is better recovery speed 3-6 .. Equinox at 50 eurocent -40cm -to recovery speed 1-2 strong signal with ID 2-6, with coil 10-12 cm above ground, for recovery 5-6 to 6cm above ground - program park2 - sensitivity 23-24 ... Equinox on small 15 mm in 30 cm deep coin works better for recovery 3,4,5 - signal ID 2-8. signal-deep coin ... Gold programs take both coins with strong signal Id 2-8 ... programs Park1, Field 1 on a small coin less suitably ... but mince 50 eurocent I take all program-sensitivity 23-25, beach 2 very weak ... I did a nail separation test ... IOI ... 15 cm-nails 7 cm above the silver coin 1 corona FJ 1893 .. detectors Equinox, Golden mask coin killer 15Khz 9 "coil-o ....whites SpectraV3 -6x4 ", 10x6", 10 "dd, 12x10" coil, teknetics G2 -nel snake, 11 dd, 13 "ultimate coil .... Equinox is in the separation test Best ... 2nd place golden mask -signal of coin 10-15cm  above the nais,low above the nails-no signal...3 whites spectra 12x10 coil - very slow sweep, 4 teknetics G2-13 "ultimate coil - signal from the height -25- 30cm above the coin...small  and elipsa coils did not work in this test..Equinox in Multifrekvenci-separation it excelent...The Equinox in  multifrekvenci   on the depth range is deep...

The 90 cm carbon tube comes in and out of the backrest, I slightly modified - i Know the heigt -2mm less fixed point of the equinox handle... - plus the weight of the weight is even -80gram less on the coil side. Relicmeister - combining with your pocket lock would be perfect.

It is generally used - if the recovery speed is  high - it is means very short signal of coin- , the lower is the Iron bias signal filter- means less damping of the possible coin signal  - maybe important information from this very short signal ... If the  lower recovery speed is a longer signal, and the separation is not so important, you can also use the higter  Iron bias filter to get more comfort  of detection - for example, less false tones than iron, bottle cap, and so on. So also use iron bias by type of terrain and detection type ....

Recovery speed is also a ground filter - high recovery will more filter the ground signal .. - in more mineralized soil - it is better to high recovery speed ..in-low mineralized ground  lower recovery speed may be more deeper.... Now a short comparison programs  - air tests, the tests for gold 0.05gram-4.5mm O-segment.:Multi-F., sensitivity 20, recovery2: GOLD1 -11cm.., Gold2-13cm.., Park2-12.5cm... Test recovery speed  Park2 -gold 0.05gram -4.5mm-O segment: recovery speed 2-4-7: 12.5cm..-11.5cm..-9.5cm ...

I have respect for all good detector manufacturers ... but now Minelab from the Equinox has made a very good move, used a new effective detection technology and packed it into a fast, compact, easy, waterproof and cost-effective detector ...

The difference between Park2 and Field2 is :...  Field2 and the range of iron and Tone break to ID number 2 ....- so the ID 1, 2 is golden as iron, and it is too high Recovery speed 7- small gold has too less sharp,clear-tones audio signal, even a  less deeper - but the coin response is still good ..Try  it....
 

I have a line of straight shaft at the detectors - they allow a more compact folding but also a better balance ..., a lesser weight and a smaller pull of the lock as a S-rod that employs a large force on the lock.

Equinox  Weight:   Unit weight-600 grams, coil with cable-517 grams, medium rod-100 grams, bottom rod 100 grams .....

Recovery speed works separation-deep, mineralization as well as coil size, low recovery speed as large coil, high recovery speed as small coil .. clearly within a certain range ... and smaller coil can be used on the same separation as standard coil less recovery speed .... it means good depth and sensitivity ...Recovery speed at equinox is a combination ground filter and recovery delay....to one setting...

Yes....Iron bias..-minelab...=...bottle cap reject..-whites...=silencer..-xp deus...=...mask iron-rutus....

an excellent real review, thanks..., and I agree with the multitone-tone id on Spectra v3 is a bit pesado ....
 

Equinox can use 1-4  wireles  audio ouputs at once,-in 50 tone, so it will not be a problem to use some spectral sound analyzer in a mobile phone ... even though a good sound signal is being heard ... and then VDI...

•  In EMI -for elimination EMI - try to change as follow : 1.auto-or manual  Noise cancel... 2.recovery speed  to low.-for better signal ratio ground--EMI,...  3.tone volume-audio gain-it s max.25....,go- to low, or-minimum...minor gain audio-minor gain falsing signals, ...  4. and increase iron bias ....minor signal falsing....5. increase sensitivity to maximum  - the stable...non false signals.........  For false signals from the ground,.. apply only steps 3. Tone Volume-very  important,.step..4,..5...and step 2.- recovery speed filter to high  recovery speed filter...

 equinox transmits in 5-80khz and accepts 5-40khz, and over 40khz all filters .. under the patent ... Tx motor -3wave. but the basic sensitivity of the multifrequency to the objects will be much more like the Spectra ..- there is quite similar to 1f -7.5 khz ....beach program is a question ... does not it work in bost?

In some extent, the extent of iron bias can be considered as still effective ... the aim is to remove  false signals from the iron ... and it is sufficiently separating properties

that's true,and also the standard coil-size is not too sensitive to the  tiny golden chain ...
 

Iron bias and recovery speed with adjustable items -DIFFERENT  PROGRAM SETTINGS  IN THE MANUALS , each with their case according to the situation .,and  ground...-no problem...

 Low Iron Bias is not decrease a short coinage signal in long iron, or a nail type  --- o --- o --- o --- o ---, the large iron bias is partially or fully signal  decrease from the coin. it is not so much a problem with a short signal of iron, nail,   and coins in terms of  type :  I o I o l o l o I  .  For a high recovery rate - very short iron and coin signals, use of low iron  bias  will not the  decrease signal of coin in iron. Iron bias also suppresses the short signs of mineralization of the ground, EMI, but also deep and weak signals of coins in the ground.

In Whites Spectra V3  bottle cap Off/ and bottle cap  On / seting1 its big diference for  unmask coin in iron...depend on location  iron and coin,  -produces better "full range"  signal iD and audio ouput...better-bledy audio....In Argo  and  Optima  i use  minor "mask"-iron bias  2-3.max for better  unmask...
