I am curious. are you detecting different areas of that park and it keeps producing, or hunting the same areas. If you are hunting the same areas are you wandering or gridding and are you using the same settings. What I am getting at if you are hunting the same area what do you think is the reason you missed these items the first time? I am not criticizing, but just trying to understand what is making that area still produce if it is the same area you hunted before?

I was cherry picking the same area, approximately 50x50, first couple of times. I hit it from one direction using a grid pattern one day then next time from the other direction. This time I dropped my tone break to 10 and took out the nickels. When I first hit a new spot, I will wander around until I hit a keeper. Thats when I begin gridding off one section after another.

I actually get pretty excited when I'm digging a relic site and get a TID in the 30's!!  Lot of super deep seated dimes have come in in the low 30's, deeper silver quarters, I dug a deep Morgan silver dollar last year at an old defunct train depot and it was mostly hitting 36, but bouncing between 36-39, but it sure sounded good (as does some deep junk haha).  Perhaps it depends on the types of sites, depth, type of soil, mineralization, etc.  Going from mostly 1-99

Same here Cal, deeper fringe targets hit in the mid to upper 30's in my soil, I always chase those guys and have been rewarded time after time.

  3. I had a very productive day hunting a city park in a nearby town. Took me 7 1/2 hours to round up all these keepers. The v nickel is the fifth one I've taken out of this park in the last 2 weeks. Ended up with a nickel trifecta to boot.  I think I'm going to get the 5x10 coil due to the amount of iron and debris in the places that are producing the coins. I did pretty good by going nice and slow and digging all iffy tones. I was very surprised to see the Canadian quarter come out, that's the second one I've found this year.

  4. I went back to a park that's been producing some good finds. Today was a very unusual nickel day. Ended up with 3 silver war nickels, a v nickel, an unidentified coin, 4 Wheaties and a religious medallion. I didn't really have a goal this year for silver coins but with today's finds that puts me at 112 for the year. Running park 1...2 tones..no disc...manual gb at 30..recovery speed 3..iron bias at F2-0.. tone break at 10...sens 23.  All war nickels hit at 15, the V hit 12-13, the unidentified coin(?) hits at 12.

Hopefully the dime you lost wasn't the 1916-D....  I hate it when that happens.  You're still crushing it, regardless.

That shovel looks familiar.  Did you buy it used from a guy in New Zealand?

Thank you.  The dime was a rosie, nothing collectable in that sense.  The shovel is a Lesche, bought it from Richard at Backwood Detectors 4 or 5 years ago.   I painted it because I've almost lost it a couple of times 🙂

I wish I had somebody next door that could weld like that !

Was short on time last night , so increase this👍  to this 👍👍👍👍👍 and throw in one of these 🖖

It's a blessing to have good neighbors, especially ones with tools and know how 🙂

Way to go Dan! Nice coins. Seems odd that the shovel would break on the billet, but your friend really fixed it up. From the photos it looks like things are a bit dry. 👍

Thank you. Yes it has been extremely dry in Central Texas for the last few weeks. We have a front coming through in the next day or two hopefully it'll bring some moisture. I was really bummed when my shovel broke. I ran to the local hardware store and grabbed a little 2 ft mini shovel to finish out the day.

  8. Here are my finds from my last 2 hunts from public parks from nearby towns. On the first set of pictures, I was able to find four silver dimes, but, somehow I managed to lose a silver Rosie   .  Next set of pictures is from another park where I've done very well.  The dates on the v nickels are 1899 and 1900. The item with the hole in it is an amusement token. All items were found with the Equinox 800. I also managed to break the end of my shovel off. Luckily I have a handy neighbor with a welder and he was able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Now that is a great hunt with those type of silvers, and the rest of the coins are nice also.

Keep up the hunt and bring home some more of them, don't let the old ones be lost forever.

Good luck on your next outing.

Thank you, most of what I'm finding is between 6-9" it appears that I am finding the leftovers, for me that's the most rewarding part.

Just another day on the time machine you've been riding....   And more silvers than Wheaties; 8 to 5 -- it wasn't close.  That happens, like, never?  I look forward to your next report, but not as much as you are looking forward to tomorrow's hunt.

Thank you. Finding more silver than wheats is very unusual, but I'll take that every day of the week :-)
