Thanks for sharing the wonderful memories.  I too was sad to see them go.

x2. And just have to add that Mr Steve Howard (the detectorist on the 2019 cover) is a very fine and helpful man. There wasn't left much he couldn't get straight. It really hurt to see them go.😢

Over the past two weeks I've bought an MXT, V3i, and Spectrum XLT.  There's just something I like about those big box detectors.  I swear, somebody better not post a 6000 XL. It's one I've always wanted to try.  That MXT is a beast with DD coils on it.  I wish I could have found the Pro model just for the ground grab button but for no more than what I have in this regular MXT, I'm not complaining.  The V3i is one complex dude.  It is going to take some time to figure it all out.  I've not received the XLT yet but I know a few guys from Georgia that used to hunt with them in all metal and would wear me out in red dirt on Civil War relics.  I always wanted one...took me nearly 30 years to get one.

Side note:  In playing with the V3i, it may very well have one of, if not the deepest, most customizable all metal mode of any VLF machine I have used. In my test garden I am wooed.  Whether or not that setting will be usable in actual hunting conditions, is yet to be determined.

    Hello Daniel TN.

A "ground grab button" modification can be done very easy if you want to have one on the std. MXT. But hunting  in "Locked" GB, flipping the Trac Toggle to [Ground] and then back to [Lock] will do the same; and the MXT will stay "original" without an added Pushbutton. (I am not responsible for any damage!)

    Good Luck & Have Fun

Has anyone else noticed a huge uptick in obvious faked finds being posted?  Not here...but on other sites and in particular, social media hunting group pages?  I'm talking about silver and copper coins "in the dirt pile" pictures that have zero oxidation, patina, etc and the silver look like it's been rubbed on with metal polish paste...that kind of luster to them.  I guess they thrive on comments or something. I saw some tonight on an arrowhead group I'm on...guy had 5 modern points posted together that are the kind you get at the souvenir shops, gas stations, and such...not even made from material found here in the US...and claims he found them at a certain place near me.  If he did...somebody planted them as a joke.  I thought he was posting the picture as a joke but he said he knows their real because he knows other people have found native rocks there too.  🤔   Well heck...I guess beer cans are from the Civil War because we find them on property we also find Civil War relics too.  Stuff like that probably shouldn't irk me but for some reason it does.

Hi Daniel. Don't pay to much attention to these. Some of them are real influencer which do that for their living. And to get the "clicks" every tool works for them. THEY don't do this for the detectorists spirit.

I saw one vid from a well known guy which does beach detecting and saw the drop-ins in the sand when he dug up totally surprized the coins. 🤪😝 So I stoped watching, desubscribed and went on. Leaving comments won't help much as these people will delete them (some forum members from here included, too). I do ignore them all the way, good for health and mind.😉😊

IMHO, Good Luck & Have Fun.😎

  4. Hello Michaeldoc2u. Welcome aboard.

It is hard to tell when a detector is done. As long as I can get energy for them (batteries or rechargeables) and they find things for me they will have a warm place in my home. When all 4 are done (3 White's and my CZ70-Pro), and I can swing a detector, I think then it will be time for a update (detectorlike).

More than one time I though about selling one or two, and people are willing to buy I know for sure. But when the deal is done there is one drawback...I'll never get back these machines. Others may be I think, but I know the ones I own work as they should; will the new one do??

Some coils from detech for White's detectors are still available and on budget. Other White's accessories like coils and covers will uprise every now and than in the "used" market so gthere is no reason to me to get panic. 😊

Anyway, however you decide, keep us posted.

    Good Luck & Have Fun

Evening to all,i spend countless hours looking for a video on youtube ,i almost give up as it may lost in the archives of the youtube inferno:

The video was showing a beach/lake comber using a CZ machine BUT connected to a modified/inverted leaf blower.

The aim was to everytime he had a target press the trigger from the blower who i believed was connected to a venturi system, connected to a PVC pipe sucking the sand from the middle of the CZ coil, and all the water and material was then send to a waist basket designed like a sandcoop.

Do you guys remember watching this video it must be +12 years old at least .

    Thanks

  6. Hello. Some time back I said, if I get a chance to purchse a Detech 9" Ultimate DD for my White's I'd jump on. Two weeks ago the one I ordered from Todd Marshall, Centrevilleelectronicsnw.com, arrived.

I have to say that this is a nice addition to the arsenal. Runs on the MXT & DFX, only the VX3 has to use this at 2.5 and 7.5 kHz; at 22.5 kHz it falses.

But so far it runs very smooth and I'm very impressed by this 9" DD.

Thanks a lot to Mr. Marshall. 👍😎😊

Having used this machine for years, I am curious if anyone here has experience with any settings other then presets, The places I hunt in are older and I would suspect more silvers should come out of the ground.  Yes its a older machine and I dont drive much due to age. I just cant justify the expense of getting a new machine. Thanks in Advance !!

Hello. Maybe that will help you a little. XLT sheet.pdf

While i also take special care of my low mintage silver coins and appreciate and retain them....this whole thing is conjured up by you and me.  Coins that come out of the ground with 'vintage' wear and scratches or even bag marks from the mint are great.  This is original patina.  However, god forbid those of us that find them put little micro scratches on them or remove tarnish.  This is all just a mechanism driven by the coin collecting world to drive price tiers and differentiation (no different than any other business tiering scheme or mechanism).  When did this start becoming a thing in the coin collecting world - 80's, 90's?

You can send your coin to a grading company for preservation (light cleaning) and that is perfectly acceptable.  Don't do the same thing yourself though.  Your coin will now be damaged.  But if you paid an expert, all is well.  Let the coin sit and develop a patina (silver oxidization) for several decades and most will have the appearance of vintage aging...with some exceptions.

For those common coins that I find, i hit them all with a baking soda past because i like the appearance in the binder.  As they are effectively junk silver, it doesn't matter in any material way.  The vast majority, if graded, would yield an environmental damage label right, wrong, or otherwise.

My take is have fun, enjoy the hobby.  Do what makes you happy.   I might cringe if you further damage a $300 coin, but that is your issue, not mine.  I spend my time detecting and minimal time worrying about other people and their actions.  Kinda not my business.

    One man's alternative take....

Couldn't have said this better. Thanks Zincoln.👍
