On ya, start em early, can only comment on my son he used his eyes until he was about 10 (now approaching 45), his biggest was a 43gram solid by eye, he reckoned they glowed at him. Young eyes close to the ground perhaps I don`t know but he kills me with a detector too. I just think it calls him.

If I cannot find enough gold with that combination it's time to retire from detecting!
Nah, Nah NK, prospectors dont retire they just keep on reFiring.🤪

I found a use for the Axion backpack, it makes a tidy bag for coils in Toyota, old fella small coils to 14" that is. 😉 But a good backpack was/is a must for prospecting, current ones a Camelback KUDU20, made for cyclists but suits prospecting.

Too many variables for there to be a conclusive test other than consumer popularity of a product. eg. the current thread on the Trash Can Lid coil, some consumers got good results some didn`t or the current thread on the QZ80 detector, some will buy and swear by them. Tolerance of electronic components and even coils is far finer than tolerance of the individual consumer.

The new GPZ8000 gets em at least 40% faster.🤪

😋 It was detected (hear that Minelab) at least 2 meters of the road from a vehicle travelling at 67 Km/hour from the road. I want the gold version of their detector. 🤑
Note 4 of the capsules can sit on a 10¢ Aus or a $¼ US
GJ geiger detector? The full story and nothing but the full story please.😉

Many of us joined the 1Koz club in no time behind that rubbish lid, to a certain extent this success was/is being replicated by the GPZ w/. X CC coils more recently.

Whoops we mustve posted same time-Sats latency Steve.

Yeah come with both the 2000 and early 2100s, two first ones I got worked on one channel only, third worked OK on both channels (no worries ML replaced quickly), they definitely got gold and taught us early on PIs + big coils = big gold deep. The ML plastic 18" replacement was much more reliable. Did not see many users using the small coil in those days, nothing wrong with it just those door stoppers at depth in mineralized ground way beyond the VLF capability was the go.

Nah nah nothing in their features, tis the feeling, they simply take you to that heavy stuff.

Good. I don't want you driving over here to my gold fields and discovering how easy it is to become filthy rich detecting the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Well that`s bloody lovely, here us downunders have invited you folks over here, chauffeured you around like nobility, helped you get gold on our fields. And what!!!! Can`t even find if California is even in the US never mind the Sierra Nevada mountains. I`m dirty............

Still no joy, think it might be something to do with my Satellite Internet, can load others but not that particular "amended and updated" version from that website. Not to worry it is a rich history we share some of those adventurers as they must have viewed the world as their backyard even with the difficulties of transport etc. of that era.

Hmmmm will not load for me, error can`t reach the page. Any suggestions.

Flooding is never good for the people experiencing it, except when its out best friend and concentrates gold bearing gravels into paystreaks.
?????? I said that on 1/21/2023 at 4:34????? Must`ve been in me sleep🤪. But your dead on Alaska is big, the biggest US state, 1/5th the size of OZ 1.5mkm2 to 7.5mkm2 approximately, I didn`t forget yas.
-
Yeah MN not wrong weather probably can go to all extremes regardless of where we live, but I wonder, when I think California or Australia , I think gold, is it that lovely heavy stuff that draws the mongrel weather? Or is it just our feverish hobby mucking up our thinking big time, well mine at least..... let me out of this cabin..... 🤪

VicR, Aye picture I posted does show (apparently) size of OZ vs US with states and territories of OZ and the 52 US States combined, I say apparently because tis from internet???? thus maybe not accurate just a rough idea. I thought OZ would be only roughly half size of US, Strick thought maybe would be bigger, initially I`d found one showing California vs OZ and that got me thinking OZ is big in comparison, all good.
-
Thank you Strick, being OZ biased, I found both The Dry and The Drovers Wife brilliant movies, with The Drovers Wife being very powerful as well.
-
Flak and other interested folks, a couple of movies (although recoing movies to Flak is akin to recoing gold techniques to Steve, Gerry and others) The Dry (Eric Bana) and The Drovers Wife (Leah Purcell) poem/short story by Henry Lawson.

No doubt about it the 10x5 goldhawk is a top coil, gives the 6K even more sensitivity/versatility.
