  1. I was using my 10x5 coil on my Nox last sunday, the ground conditions are about as highly mineral as you can get and also very short barley stubble,i tried using the coil for a few hours but because i was near a giant pumping station the Coiltek coil could only run with sensitivity down to about 16 although it was reasonably stable i did not feel happy with it.

Changed over to the 6'' coil and Bingo and it was running as smooth as silk and also able to run the sensitivity back up again,i think the trouble with the 10x6 running erratic on the day was this massive pump station near the field,i had to run it in multi freq due to the black mineral soil.....only found a few roman coins any before the heat beat me at about 13.00 and came home again.

In normal conditions i would think it would run very stable.

  2. I have never detected for gold nuggets ever, but i would think the the best coil for the job would be the 24khz Silver Scout concentric coil, its very good for finding both silver and gold coinage here in the UK,and also another coil possibility would be the 8x6 coil which alas they no longer make,i own and use that coil the most and because of its small size you can increase the sensitivity right up and behaves like a high power laser beam so that could also work,it certainly works on finding small gold coins and artefacts its a shame they never made that coil in a higher frequency though.

Just some possible some thoughts about using the Nexus MP for gold nugget hunting.

I like the Sadie, but don't find it much more sensitive than the 7 1/2" DF. Both are very good on the SL, especially with the 16v battery. I also recently bought a 5 x10 Razorback, but have yet to try it. Idaho, and the surrounding states, are really great. I feel fortunate to have spent my adult life here. Wouldn't trade it for any place else on earth.

Jim,that 5x10 coil you recently bought is it a folded mono ?? i have had one for a few years but never used it as yet,but out detecting on a roman trading villa site tomorrow that has horrendous black sand,so my way of thinking is using the TDI with the 5x10 coil on this site.....most folks can only use multi freq machines like say the Nox etc,but will take mine but will also give the TDI a trip out for a change as well and will probably use it for most of the day....will update you on how it goes...the site is a about as difficult a site to detect but the roman coinage and artefact are prolific if you can cut through the black sandy conditions.

  4. I will be visiting possibly my all time favourite site this coming sunday with my Nexus MP,its a Roman Trading Villa site that was occupied for 400 years and has produced 1000s upon 1000s of roman coins and other artefacts over years....why i will be using the Nexus is that fact that the sandy soil conditions are about as difficult to detect as it gets....thesoil is that bad the only machines that will work this soil are Pulse,Multi Freq and the Nexus, this will be the 1st time i have used the Nexus on this very difficult so will update you on how it goes...will also be taking the other machines that have worked before.

Just had a phone call that the Barley has been cut this last weekend,so detectors are all on charge.

  5. A great write up,i have what was possibly the very last TDI Pro here in the UK was also very lucky to get a brand new spare battery for it as well....had been tempted to do some mods but never built up the courage to do them.....for the most part i only use GPX coils on mine and the main Coil that i use is the Coiltek 14x9 Goldstalker Mono, just makes a very nice reliable and stable outfit.....its also still looks like it came off the Whites production line yesterday its that clean.

  6. A decent video on the Nexus MP,i have the 13'',10'' and 8x6 coil and also the 11.5'' Silver Scout,my favourite one out of these coil is the LF 8x6 DD coil which stays on the detector about 95% of the time....i find that i can increase the sensitivity right up and get some amazing depths from such a smallish coil, alas they no longer make the 8x6 coil and it does work exceptionally well on pasture sites here in the UK.

  7. I use to use them in my Troy X5,even with a normal battery they lasted a long time in that machine but when using those Lithium Iron battery they seem to last forever, yes very expensive but the longer battery life made up for it.....i absolutely hated that machine bought it brand new and it was not cheap but oh boy i did like iron,so after 2 odd years it went and that is the only detector that i have ever sold.

  8. Never go out detecting without a pinpointer, the main one i used for a long time was the Whites Bullseye, still own it and it still works, then i purchased a black original Garrett probe that has served me well for many many years and still is my main everyday use one,but i also own a XP mI-6 probe which i keep in the car as a back up,this XP probe i bought brand new for under half price but never used it as yet................would feel totally lost without a probe, always carry a backup Deus coil on a collapsible shaft with WS5 headphones and the XP mi-6 probe in the back of my car, always keep them charged just incase anything goes wrong with my main detector/s as i can travel some distance and as yet never had a issue of a detector having issues, but better safe than sorry.

  9. Have read so many bad reports about the 35 version,i certainly wont be buying one for sure....still using my original black Garrett probe its never let me down and also have a new Mi-6 pinpointer which i have never used but did buy it brand new for well under half price just incase my Garrett packs up...but even then i would probably go out and buy another Garrett.
