  1. Some things to take note title. "How not to release a new detector"
  2. Your missing the point mate. There is incorporated in the E1500 a large gold mode and the manual clearly states the use of coils, large coils bigger than the 14 excels in mineralised ground. They then say they have never used one bigger than the 14 so big ones should work in theory. Wow, great field testers using a detector with that mode and advice on bigger coils excelling but they never bothered to try it!? Seriously!? If as you say, its pointless, then why is it a feature they have. How would you know what is or isn't pointless when you have never found anything bigger than grams? Your giving advice and corrections on something you've never even done nor achieved? Its all in your head with zero experience. Your full of it.
  3. I have just checked on the Algo site and see the info/intro to it has changed a little in regards to the shaft system. Before I begin, I do want this machine and maker to make a success of it all. Im getting one, eventually. But in a previous post on this site I mentioned how I felt it hadn't been sufficiently tested across the board. I now am convinced about that. Im just going to point out what I believe is the obvious. The first screenshot is from the Algo E1500 manual on modes for gold sized and coil sizes. This screenshot is from the site now in regards to coil sizes. The largest coil they tested with was the 14x9 and "in theory" larger coils will work! They only tested with small coils and the largest was the 14x9. Then how do they know it excells with coils larger than that one in mineralised soils!? They highly recommend something they have never tried?
  4. Thanks. Friend just messaged me this morning that the wait times blown out to the middle of April on a parts wait. Which should translate to nothing till May by the time they're used and detector sent! That will make it 3 months for me if im lucky. Thats longer than the 2000 was. I can't help but feel they underestimated the logistics of it all.
  5. Hi mate. When did your mate order or get on the list for that one please?
  6. Another 2. That's three then so far in Victoria. Well we'll see how it goes on my smashed patches if it can pull anything else off of them. When I get it that is 😴
  7. "On first camp fire 'yack' he asked us to keep any 'hot rocks' that interfered with our Pis GB ( SDs 2000, 2100 and 2200) he was collecting such for ML" He was probably keeping them to crush later from a known area for gold in ironstone 😂 Just kidding.
  8. Mate iv gone from eating popcorn to near falling asleep now. 😄
  9. Hi mate. Out of curiosity when did you order yours. Interested to know the wait time please.
  10. Hi mate. Yes the 12" evo round. Lighter colour than the original ones and told is just on 2mm thicker than the original. My choice of that charger was based upon some dust proofing Ip rating and the weight. Its just over 500 gram, so given the 12" is similar weight and I'll be using a longer stem which will put the leverage towards front end weight im thinking they should match up with just a bit front end weight difference. If i need I can add some weight either end with some flattened fishing sinkers, more so the rear. The power banks solar side of things is pretty sensitive, though I doubt ill ever use it to charge. But just sitting on my dining room table the green light lights up and the blue one cycle showing charge. Haha, though it would probably take weeks sitting there to really do anything inside. I did notice using a 2 amp charger and the micro that it took ages to charge to full when I got it. I put the C cable on it, the 2 amp and it got too warm/hot for my liking. Which is why I got the 3 amp qualicom with all the protections to use the C charge lead. Run some power out of the bank, put the 3amp and C on it. Much much less warmth from the charger. All good. Suppose the wait right now for the Algo doesn't matter right now as the heat where I am is relentless, been in the 30s for several weeks and now facing around 40c the next few days. No relief in sight so far. Still id like to have it right now as I have diggings right out the back of us so I could walk out and do a couple of hrs early morning before it heats up. Good luck mate 👍
  11. Everything ready but the Algo. I am though getting some good honest reports my end about it. I need more popcorn to tide me over....Now...🤔....buttered or just salted....
  12. Hi mate. Im going for the Evo 12 round coil. I have a longer shaft which I kept from my 5000. That ill use for sure as im tall and always found minelab shafts too short and was always stooping which is a proverbial pain in the back. I found the 12 round a killer coil on the 5000. Im not a fan of eliptical. Id rather go slower with a super sens round than an elliptical. But hey, we all have our likes. I searched and searched battery packs. Your Poseidon Dark is good in ways, but I dont need the knife thing which I think bumps it up by about 70 bucks in my mind. I searched for the battery without it but came up zeros. I have been a product reviewer for a particular battery powered device, devices I should say, which I wont mention here, for about 6 yrs. And no, not an influencer, was offered that but declined. Iv done them warts n all for the Chinese distributor just on forums where people know me personally. Many often said, "oh you aint gonna last long" as the majority give glowing reviews to utter crap just to stay in the game. I could have made money but I didn't want to and just chose to be honest and my only gain is I keep the gear. I believe my reviews help people and thats all I care about. So, the 12 round. Given its weight, I know Nitecore batteries and chargers very well. There is a Nitecore 20,000 mah as light as the Poseidon Dark 10,000. The Nitecore Carbo. And has Ip rating. But. As much as I like much of their other stuff, im not convinced from contact with others that it is tough enough. Also to me its under weight to counter balance the 12". I want Ip rating. Now I know that Ip goes down the drain when the charge port is exposed, many devices I have reviewed are IP rated, but they have the port sealed when in use and only open when charging. So, till im convinced otherwise about units, I went for the Cygnet Outback 20,000. I wanted its construction that is dust and other proof. The open charge ports ill seal myself and it will be just the business end one in use open. Minimising dust exposure. I may find better later but thats my start. I hear of battery movement. I have ordered 2mm adhesive closed cell Neoprene to put above and below the battery. I believe this will give grip and cushioning to it. No plastic on plastic slip and allow it to embed into it keeping it in place. I use and fitted the same brand on my cars armrests to soften things up. No memory and its as good today as it was 3 years ago. I ordered a good matt finish tablet screen protector too which I have used for several detector screens in the past. Causes zero issues with press buttons and no glare issues. So im pretty confident that will all do the job I want them to do. Screen one I know it does for sure. And the adhesive Neoprene lasts. I did search and search for better straps. My choice was for, cant recall right now the exact name if the thing they are made of, but similar to the rubber straps on diving masks. There is one that lasts well but I couldn't find them that I believed would fit. I had similar holding down a rear tool kit on an old motorbike I once had. That too would I believe eliminate any movement and add grip to the battery. So thats it. I think what im getting and ordered will do the job. Just a waiting game for the E15. I guess some may think iv been over critical, I don't feel I have been, im just being me. Cheers mate.
  13. Not sure what your response is to me, humour or sarcasm. But im in. Algo orderd, battery pack just a day or two away, battery movement issue I reckon another order I have on the way, and a coil too. All will arrive within a week then I wait 3 to 4 for the detector. Hey to you and to others living here in central Vic, stay safe tomorrow with our Catastrophic fire warnings. We are 30km away from the huge blaze, last week we had a worry just 3km from us. Phew they got it out. Our power was out and it was scary. We live with big eucalyptus forests all around us. I hope you and all others here in OZ are safe and if it gets bad, stay well and all the best for you. Our place is a serious worry. To you and all the other Aussies in Central Vic, stay safe and take care 👍
  14. Tried to edit my reply but it came to a halt. Absolutely listening to feedback is great like I said. Im not sure here at times who is answering who as often there is no tag in @ wise to know who's replying to who here. Maybe your reply is to me, or someone else. If not me I apologise and disregard my reply to you. If its to me ill elaborate on my previous post. Again its Great Updates are offered like I stated in my other post. But. There has always been a disconnect here in OZ, others from other countries may not see that, with detector's made and the end result, resulting in fixes, diy and all kinds of things. These, Im well aware you know thus from your own vast experience, are not toys, they are expensive high end gear. Even the E15 though cheaper than others is still up there and eyed by pros, not me as an expensive bit of kit. Add a good power bank or two, coil or two if you are coming off of VLFs or stepping into the game of PI and Aussie your looking at 3g! I look at it this way. Why do I need if I buy a high powered rifle worth that, need to ask anyone what is the best gaffer tape to hold the magazine in place? Or why if I buy a new top line Shimano game reel and rod need to ask on a fishing forum what others do to stop the reel moving about in the reel seat or the the handle wobbling! See, this is over and over and over with detectors and shows something not quite right. Shafts that slip, battery packs that move and need double side Velcro tape. Simple operation that needs adjusting. etc etc...There is and I stand by my statement here too, a big disconnect between the manufacturers and field testers and the end result for users. These are not huge asks. They are simple things that are fixed by everyday people who should not after spending thousands have to do so. So what happens afterwards!? Well, the initial guinea pig users come up with the fixes and the manufacturer then implements them more or less. Then!? Those later down the track gain by it. The manufacturer gains by it too. The initial buyers who helped with all that? They can console themselves as they look at their double sided velcro tape, glue and gaffer tape that they helped the manufacturer and others that benefitted by their ideas.
  15. Hi mate. Yeah can pushing change things dramatically or what! Even just scrape raking away the gravely stuff sitting on top of the ground can, ironstone little stones and bits of other gravel that is sitting there loose. Not for depth but the masking it can give as im pretty sure your aware of. Can create a real barrier at times just a cm or two of it. But I am looking forward to getting on the end of the Algo and finding where it's strengths and weaknesses lay. Just a waiting game now but I guess the positive I can see in that is by the time I get it it will already have any updates done saving me doing 80km round trips to libraries or community centres to do them. Its coming across to me that at the moment its a bit of an on the fly sorting things out for it updating things and whatnot. That's good they do it, great they do it, but I cannot but wonder how on earth it was field tested sufficiently to warrant such early updates. I'll explain where im coming from. A faster response pushing the bal button. If you can do that right now then why wasn't it faster from the start? Why if you can make it faster didn't it have the maximum it could operate with? I cant help but feel that there wasn't greater actual in field overall testing and feedback. It seems it was done in a limited way. Now im not saying those who did field test it were stupid, they may very well be highly intelligent and capable, but I dont think a sufficient cross section of typical gold detecting scenarios, ground types, mineralisation types, or even needs of the operator were in the mix. I'll draw fire from saying those things im sure but I'll stand by them. Said it earlier and still think it though, that it appears to be cleverly made/thought out, enough to me that I'll invest in it. I'll put my hard hat on now.
