  1. Did a little crack scratchin today and had a blast on a lucky spot.  Weight was 1.256g is all but it sure was fun banging them out!  My post yesterday drew some flak about dink size?  Well there's a few in todays finds that definitely qualify as dinks....lol  That Monster continues to amaze me on the tiniest stuff it'll bark on!!!!

  2. Lost my pick today but found it, also lost my beloved Goldmonster scoop, couldn't find it and damned glad I had a spare with me!  Anyways....7 bits from pounded area for .788g and one of them was 8" deep so the 6 is doing what it does pretty damned good imo......  Using manual 1 and 2....

I think it will definitely capture more depth than the SDC,

It definitely is deeper than the SDC....but not near as stable in my areas.

Took some pics of todays 5 hr. hunt but managed to somehow delete them after I threw em in the nugg jugg....duh!!!!

Anyways.... got 6 bits today for .847 gram. The deepest nugg was .360 at 10" (could have called it 11" but want to be honest and conservative)....I was impressed!  EMI was an on-off thing today again but not too bad and something I can learn to live with. Hunted in Manual 1 all day, had headphones to try but never got around to it.  Had planes overhead and some caused EMI and once again...some didn't?  All the areas I've hunted are previously hit by myself and others. Have used both my machines several times before using the 6 in these areas.  Impressed with the 6 and the whole emi thing is just nature of the sensitive beast the 6 is and just something each individual will have to deal with depending on the ground you're hunting?  So far nothing substantial weight wise but 5 hunts with the 6 (20hrs?/ 22 bits) and just under 7 gram with the 6.    jmho....

PS...starting to get smokey from fires....here we go again.

For a detector that sounds so simple to use……..maybe it really is not so simple after all.

It very well could end up being your particular locations emi that ends up determining whether or not the 6 is the ticket or not for you?  It's a high strung machine but maybe so sensitive in some locations it's just not worth the aggravation, frustration, and constantly fucking with it to actually ENJOY your time out in the brush...????  Time will tell.....

I see quite a few mentioning EMI troubles with the GPX6.   Very likely that the amount of EMI experienced in the States is far more than what I get here in country Victoria but the following may still be relevant.

In the time that I have been using the GPX6 I have found that Manual Sensitivity 1 provides a very smooth threshold yet does not really lose much in getting a target response.  The response is certainly quieter at Sensitivity 1 than Sensitivity 9 for example, but it is also much easier to hear through a smooth threshold than a noisy one.

There have been many times that I can run Auto and Auto Plus without issue or maybe have to put up with a little mess in the threshold.  There have been times where dropping to Manual Sensitivity 1 is the only way to continue detecting, but I've continued to find gold.

Possibly worth testing a few targets pre-dig in Manual Sensitivity 1 and seeing if they are still detectable.  Might give you a bearable alternative for the times that EMI is driving you nuts.

The ease/speed of setting changes is one of the little bonuses of the GPX6.

So far in my area manual 1 has worked the best for me but sometimes I can jack it up a little and usually check target with higher sense.  Another thing I think probably helps is keeping that coil on the ground, I get sloppy with my other tectors as they are very forgiving, this wild beast not forgiving at all. Might try using the headphones tomorrow maybe....????  13 fires started in my county after yesterdays storm so we all might get booted outta the woods soon....fingers crossed

Boy with it going crazy with airplanes I am thinking it might not work near some power lines.  I have a nice patch that is close to some where i could hear a little emi trouble with both the Z and SDC.

Today I got in 3.5-4 hrs for only 2 bits.  First 2 hrs the emi was terrible, I was thinking "well we'll be selling this as it just won't settle down for any length of time and is quite annoying.  Last 2 hrs threshold about SDC smooth, just a couple noise cancels and I'm liking the thing again?  Then I hear and see a jet and I'm waiting for the 6 to go bonkers.....it doesn't?  Then another jet....threshold stays pretty calm?  One minute I'm gonna toss it over the bank into a ravine then all is well????  Started doing what Lunk mentioned and just let it go nuts and usually whatever is causing the emi disappears.....?

Awesome finds. So you ended up getting one! I was wondering if you might. Mine is sitting here burning a hole in it’s box. It’s driving me nuts. BTW, I think I found your nickel about a month ago, too. 😂. We should team up and cover some ground.

I'm gonna bet you guys will have to stay 1/4 mile apart at least....lol  That sob is one sensitive mofo.......

By looking at Flightradar over the USA is something entirely different…….I’m guessing this generates a great deal of EMI ?

With this new 6 I'm starting to figure this airplane crap out?  never noticed it with the SDC and never even considered it may be a problem in the middle of nowhere? Couldn't believe how many planes were flying around overhead? To be honest I haven't used PI much.  With much of the shallow and Monster sized gold already got it's time to step it up with much more PI work.... writing is on the wall......

  9. Norvic/goldcatcher....  Thanks guys for the EMI and threshold info....

Today I moved into the other side of the canyon and wearing my Romeo slippers (no metal) and running lowest sense and sometimes higher a click or two I had little threshold crap and things were fairly stable today.  When the treshold did go whackamo I'd turn down the sound and noticed damn near every time the very stable threshold would start to stray I'd hear a MF'ing plane overhead!  I'd noticed this before but this is the first time I started looking for and listening to planes.  Thought I was out in the middle of nowhere.  One of my saying is "there's an idiot behind every bush nowdays"  now I have to add "there's an idiot behind every cloud nowdays".

Unless I get something substantial I'll probably quit the pics for awhile (?).  Think everyone has a pretty good idea what the 6 does and how good it does it.  That super sensitive sob will take some getting used to but on the flip side the benefits more than make up for that.  Got in 4hrs today before the heat....biggest bit was .944g at 10-11" range and total for the 5 bits was 1.851gram.....

PS....at the end of my hunt I'm headed towards the quad with the mini-monster, pick, and the 6.  In my slippers I stumble on some scree and down I go. As I was going down I had enough geo-sense to sacrafice the pick and mini-monster taking a hard hit and kept the 6 from taking a hit.  Get it...geo-sense...Oneguy cracked a funny, Oneguy cracked a funny.....enough of this!

  10. Nice hunt....  Had a chuckle over you saying   "But how did the Gold Monster miss these? Must not have got that little 5-inch Monster coil directly over them".  I keep re-hunting areas with the Monster I "think" gotta be done, hit it sooo many times...no more nuggs, etc.  Then I step back and see the whole area and try an visualize painting that whole area with a 3" brush (working center of the 5" coil) and realize the reality of how long it would take to "paint" that whole area with a 3" brush....lol

  11. Headed out at dark-thirty and got started at daylight for 5 hrs before the heat.  Had a plan to stay on a road with my slippers on instead of my usual high top metal in boot work boots to see if the metal in the boots may have contributed to my terrible unstable threshold?  Threshold acted better today but still goes whackamo but not as frequent....metal free boots will have to come soon. Todays 5 bits weighed a whopping .645g and as you can see the 6 gets the Monster sized tinys actually better and deeper than the Monster..no shit!  I dug more of the tiniest wire bits today at greater depth that it still amazes me (and pisses me off)....anyways, very impressive on the tiniest stuff.  Also tried the silent threshold but feel I need to hear the threshold for when the machine goes whackamo?  I'll get it figured with more time....

  12. yeah....what's up with the $%^& flies...!!!!!!!  Biggest one on the left in pic was 1.78g at an honest 12".  My sdc runs thru that exact location many times and very stable....I'll miss that.  This 6 running minimum sense just goes nuts like you've already seen in a lot of vids?  Seems to maintain some stability while swinging/hunting but if it gets near your boots, pick, or set it on the ground it'll start it's BS?  I've only got a few hrs in so maybe with time I can figure out what I need to do to settle the thing down some?  I did not try the silent thing or try using the headphones....in time.

One thing for sure and along with most others opinions....this baby will definitely ad some life to hammered locations, without a doubt...!!!!

  13. Got up early to try and get some time in on the 6 before the heat. Got in 3.5-4hrs and 4 nuggs before the bad heat and the flies were REALLY bad, never seen em so bad, ever!  Drove me crazy more than the heat and thought about the poor Aussies and their flies...lol  First place I wanted to hunt I'd hit a couple times before with only 4 nuggs previous.  Got skunked with only trash and also a thunder storm messed with the threshold.  Next spot is a place I've hit at least 10 times before with sdc and Monster, got quite a few nuggs but they were really getting slim and Monster small.  The threshold going bonkers all the time was pissing me off and something I'll have to just get used to I guess?  I was using the lowest sensetivity and lots of noise canceling. I was having second thoughts between the unstable machine and digging crap.  Then it happened and one of the targets was a small nugg but around the 6 inch mark and I was kinda impressed.  Couple more crap targets but Goldmonster small but a few inches deeper than usual Monster bits...impressive!  Then a few junk targets later I get a good faint target and I dig and keep digging and dig some more and pop the biggest nugg at 12"...this is getting better!  Second biggest piece was 9-10".  It's been 2 months of nothing but a few tiny bits and the 6 has proven and given me what I wanted out of it which was a bit more depth, no cords, bungees, handles great, etc.  The 6 also really impressed me on finding tiny tiny stuff at 4-6" range, Monster tiny sized but a tad deeper!  I have a hell of a time PP'ing with it but that'll come in time.  Bottom line for my first outing is that I hit the second spot where the 4 nuggs turned up because it quit producing weeks ago but the 6 says "you've got more work to do now".....

I don't like PI machines basically, they make me dig junk and dig deeper but obviously after today the tired spot has more, just gotta work a little harder.  So I'm impressed with the 6 as I haven't had a 4 piece 3.3gram day in this area for a few months now......

  14. funny you should mention this.  Brought back memories from my coin shooting days.  I'd worked real hard on a local permission property with quite a history, big elaborate house/property and finally got it!  I KNEW the old coins were gonna be all over the place.  Long story short I hunted the piss outta the place with the etrac on several different occaisions and I also found a bunch of gold painted pennies from the kids in one area.  Property didn't give up the old coins like I'd hoped....maybe 2 mercs, 1 buffy, some wheats is all.  The couple was so nice I gave them a gold ring I'd taken from another property, dirtied it up and told them it came from their yard and thanks for the opportunity to hunt the property....

  15. Thanks Phrunt...!!!  That's what I needed to know. Been chasing down my PI targets 80% of the time with "full sized" Monster already and find that between the disc and ease of PP,ing it saves me valuable time.  Now to shorten it up and and add a strap..... jmo

Got it done and used my "detector buddy" off my etrac with the quick release do-hickey strap and that'll work for now.

  16. Phrunt...  My 6 is headed my way on the big brown truck and the heat will have me sidelined for at least a week.  So with the 6 showing up during the heat wave I'll be sitting out I've decided to shorten up the Monster like you did and retire it temporally as a PP'er for the 6.  Question is this....does all the wire wrapping that close to the 5" coil cause you any problems or make the Monster react any different?  Thanks!!!!
