using the Equinox in a 6 to 8 hour gold prospecting hunt with the Equinox or Gold Monster 1000. There is no way I can dig that many targets in a day with the SDC 2300, GPX 5000 or the GPZ 7000 where I hunt which is mountains, ravines, rarely any flat areas that are more than 30 x 30 yards. I often swing a detector sideways, and up and down over boulder strewn areas. I physically can't swing those detectors for more than 2 hours untethered in that terrain.  The amount of detector fatigue is not fun.

I really don't care if the GPZ 7000, GPX 6000, GPX 5000, SDC 2300 is the best at whatever. If I don't enjoy swinging them, I won't use them.

we have the same kind of terrain and think alike!  Between the trash, brush, and terrain I seem to almost always end up using my beloved Monster before it's all said and done.  Not out there to beat myself up more than I already do, takes the fun right out of it.  A guy definitely needs VLF and PI so hopefully the simpler, lighter, and hopefully deeper 6 will send the SDC into retirement (nobody seems interested in the one I have for sale).....  Looking forward to the 6...

  2. He'll be missing out on plenty of fun if he only wants 1+ grammers.  Dug 8 more tiny little bits today that might weigh up to 1/3 gram?  Used the "skunk buster" (gold monster) and the SDC got zippo today.  I'd much rather go home with something rather than leaving the bits in the ground....  Bigger stuff will show itself when it's ready too.  Until then keep banging out the smalls....jmo

  3. Got all my bullion in deposit box but ready to pull it out.  Reason being is that according to my banks rules I can't designate a benificiary in case I die?  I can have an equal partner who has the exact same access as I do...should I chose one?  Anyways...that's the way I understood it but I could be wrong?  I surely didn't care for the way I heard things and wonder why I can't just choose a beneficiary like I do on my 2 savings accounts and stock market accounts?  I'll be closing the deposit box crap shortly.....

All good points, everyone has a different stand on how to reseve a spot in line. However, I think the situation is not that straight forward because dealers were told back in March that it would just be a few short weeks before the machines would come in. So, some started to take preorders and some customers already paid in full, based on their own choosing. But then all of the sudden the situation changed which was not forseable by anyone. So, the dealers are not to blame in my view. At least that is my understanding of what occured.

Not sure if your post was in response to mine?  Just to be clear regarding my above post... The choice to pre-order and pay in full was my decision entirely and I stand by the decision, not worried my dealer won't deliver, or the money already spent.  Like the rest of us, was hoping for an earlier release?  Now we see it's a waiting game......

I'd say the difference would be the first one to a 'known' patch would have an advantage and not the first one to get a detector.  If you have your own claims or you know your own patches will it really make much difference if you get a 6000 in July in hot Arizona or get your detector in September or October when it will be more comfortable?

Let's hear from those who have a 6000 ... if you had to wait 3 months or even 6 months ... would it cost you?

Depends on where you live. Season here starts around 1st of May and snow starts in October and starts sticking in November. It appears so far that half the season will be over before the 6 shows up.... so yes timing does somewhat matter to some of us, especially when your out $5+ g's.....????

  6. Mr. Gerry....  Contest is pretty damned decent of you to offer this up!!!!!

Had a beautiful day for me today and scared up 11 little bits.  Left em dirty to try and prove I didn't rob the nugg jugg and cheat....lol   So if I read the rules right I get 2 shots in the barrel?  Anyways....this will be my only entry as I'm gonna stay on the couch for the rest of the holiday.  Everybody have a good one and get out there if you can!!!!!

I hear what Jason says.  The speaker functionality on this 6000 is a big deal to me as I despise using headphones and use them under protest only. Hopefully this emi thing is worked out.

Ditto....  Wind came up today while using the sdc with it's lousy speaker so I had to park it (no headphones with me as I hate using them) and had to bust out my beloved Monster.....!!!!

  8. No offense but that aluminum, weightless, blunt toothed, plastic reinforced handled rake you got might not hold up or work well for you out in the brush.  Might not make it thru the day even?  JMO and please let us know how it works out when you return from your trip?  Good luck out there......

I see you guys talking tree roots and the PI's getting a signal...????  Never thought much about it until I read it here and now that I think about it, it has happened to me twice now?  Both times the sdc had a target under and around a tree root and for the life of me, both times I could never find the target so gave up?  Both times there was a larger tree root involved????  So is this a normal PI thing...????

Now that I think more about it, I use the sdc to locate targets then almost always chase target down with the Monster. Small roots up 2" I use a saw in swiss army knife to cut, big roots work around as best as I can and I'm sure the Monster saw the target also....I just couldn't find the little bastards and walked away after spending so much time trying to locate?  I'll chalk it up to operator error on my part.......

3 Seasons is still pretty young yet.  What amazes me is you have already scored a 1+ oz'er in that short time.

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

That big one was a total lottery ticket, gold is where you find it, complete fluke, just got lucky thing. Hunted that area before many times and wasted many hrs digging nothing but crap and no gold. Only reason I even went there was to test out the new to me sdc because imo the area is cleaner than most that trash riddled area...then it happened!...lol  This is my 4th season and starting off slow so far.....but having fun!

  12. I'm still in the piece count phase?  The itty bitties keep my interest up while waiting to stumble onto a bigger piece?  I've got a couple nice chunks in my 3 seasons tecting gold (biggest 3.55ozt) and will patiently enjoy the dinkers until another nice one turns up?

Beautiful gold Gerry (including the dinks!!!!).....

PS....a guy also just has to deal with the cards dealt and make the best of it....imo

Keep on the grind.... 3 dinks today is all but happy to come home with something

  13. I've got an SDC for sale now and not much interest, at least at my price?  Had 1 serious inquiry last night and 2 scammers awhile back is all....   had the machine all cleaned up and ready to send off but with no interest so far I've put the sdc back in service and she'll probably be out again today......
