Great stuff! Are you on the west coast too? 👍 Sorry about the weather but this seems like a once in a lifetime bonanza for detectorists. 😀

Yes. Southern California. I hunt from the Mexican border to the LA/Ventura county line.

  2. Been awile since I've posted anything here. But I've been on an EPIC run the last 2 weeks. Last 4 hunts have produced gold. Some beaches have massive cuts. Others have been been overpowered by the surf , bringing sand down. A few sanded in , while others are unhuntable due to no sand at all.

    Yesterday's hunt hitting 4 beaches. I was out 11 hours but that included alot of drive time. Hunted well into the dark. 8 silver coins. 1 walker , 3 Washington's , 1 merc , 3 Rosie's. 2 pendants  , 6 rings , 2 of which are 14k totalling 10 grams. Clad 31-5c , 72-10c , 26-25c. Total= $15.25. I didn't count the pennies. Some sinkers and trash for your enjoyment ! GL out there everyone.

  3. I've seen on Amazon 50 rings for about $20. I've thought about a double shot of these and helping my fellow hunters out. You know , testing their detectors out and learning their machine. And..these rings look pretty nice , so they could experience that " heartbreaker" feeling. But infact , they are all junk ! Only real problem I see is that I might be hunting that same seeded beach in another week. Only to get all pissed off....at myself. Lol

  4. Nice find. But I'm surprised no one has said anything about attempting to return it. Now , what are you going to teach him next as a father ? Try to do what is right seeing it was a fresh drop or screw it , be a pirate ? If he lost his wallet full of cash & cards it would not be a good feeling. If your only there a short while it's easy to contact local hotels or social media , etc. GL on what you decide.

I've never seen an Equinox not made in Malaysia.  Plexis may have manufacturing facilities in other countries, it doesn't mean Minelab use them 🙂  Gotta keep those costs low to get big profits.  They would also have to outfit the factory to the specifics of the Manticore with moulds etc, not going to happen for pumping out a few detectors to get them quicker to people in the US that can't wait.

The bulk of it is made in Malaysia especially the control pods and coils, the rest is China like shafts ,headphones etc, all out of Chinese components though 😄

There is a new secretive name change to be announced for the U.S edition very soon. It will be called the "Phranticore". For all of the chaos it has caused.

  6. I called it 3 months ago. I said it won't be out till next year. No where near their end of November time frame. The reason ? The track records of these propagandist clowns. And it's not defined strictly by ML. Maybe someday these wokesters will awaken and go old school. Have real , known , seasoned , confirmed  hardcore hunters performing unbiased testing. Having the product finished AND ready for release. Only then , splash your marketing campaign and taking orders for maybe 2-3 weeks. Directly into consumers hands immediately afterwords. A surefire way to backup your talk and gain customer trust.

Unfortunately, I did not find any jewelry and very few coins on the hunt. 😞

You were on the wrong beach for gold this time. A few areas are producing from this swell. I personally use air tags , they work good. But yes , dump that thing b4 you get home.

  8. My "that's mine" story doesn't get any better than this. Found 3 wallets on the beach over a year ago on different beaches. All loaded with $ and cards. 1 of them I drove by the address on my way home that morning. Guy answered and said no one lives here by that name. Finally tracked him down and he said keep the cash and return everything else. There was over a $1000 in it. The other 2 I believe I found on FB. Left messages for both , no response. Only recently did I tear everything up except the cash , very strange.

Well the Muncherian price is out for NZ.  With the US price being $1,599 USD it seems we are paying a premium here this time, normally our Minelab prices are slightly better than the US.

How does that compare to the CTX you say....

    Ctx3030.thumb.jpg.a31010627feb72b4a9cedd5867004cb4.jpg

    And to the Nox 800?

So basically the same price as a CTX, and double the price of a Nox 800.

Why don't you just send a buddy $2k US cash and have them ship you one ? You save $1,100 and your buddy makes a couple hundred. I will more than likely get one with a military discount for $1360. Not bad , but still alot more than the Nox.

  10. All this talk about power is really just that : talk , until it's out and we get to use it. But a full charge takes 7 hours in this day and age ? That is disgusting. Call me ridiculous , paranoid or whack. Here's all I know. In California , our great governor in this crazy heat has told us to not charge our EVs and 1 week prior said in the next decade no more new gas vehicles will be produced or sold. Also to turn up our thermostats as in don't run the A/C because it will cripple the power grid and cause blackouts. More insanity from these people. And all I can think of is why no one has made a solar powered detector yet. Lol

Comparing is for the Beholder.      Back when a pal and I were in our twenties we spotted a couple girls' sitting at a table. Both were smitten at the same time. So he says "I don't like yours" than he goes and sits next to the one I wasn't interested in.  Gets better, after talking for about 20 minutes, everyone agreed to switch.   Worked out for a couple of weeks, until we bumped into 2 new girls.     Sound familiar?

I had similar scenarios, except all I remember was going home with both girls.

  12. Don't know how many pounds of gold or all the coins found over the years , never really kept track. That's besides the point now. It has always been a fun hobby to me and it's nice to be rewarded some. Though over the last few years with everything going through the roof , I need to rethink it some. I have always been able to payoff my detector within a month or two. But as of recent hunts and others who hunt where I'm at , I have to wonder. How long is it going to take me to payoff a $1500 detector and $5 gas ?  It's no longer a $600 machine and $2 gas. The bottomline is I'm still using my Pulse and not exactly killing it. The gold isn't there. And it's not just me. People don't wear gold like they used to. Nor do they carry change as much either. Add in the fact there are more hunters than ever before. The biggest I feel is the lack of consistent storms/conditions that prevail for my style of hunting. Many things I have no control  over. Anyways , it's still a hobby and that's my dilemma...

I watched the newer video where the guy was waving his wedding ring around by the coil and was pleasantly surprised to hear that all too familiar audio that's music to my ears 😁

Are you serious ? Eddie Freaking Van Halen ! My favorite guitar hero of all time. Seen many times way back....RIP

  14. Here is what I know about this detector. Or shall I say what I don't know because I wasn't actually there. About 4 years ago here in So.Cal either a representative or the owner ( I could find out) met with 3 of my detecting friends on a local beach. One in particular had been seriously interested in buying one for awile. This beach has a ton of trash and is what I would call medium blacksand. Well , this guy couldn't for the life of him get it to work properly at all. After 20 minutes of everyone tinkering with it to get it to work , they gave up. My friends grabbed their machines and hunted. This poor guy apologized an hour later and everyone left. My friend said after that he would never buy one and that was enough for me...
