  1. If that was me Phrunt I would be sending those photos to the Minelab repair center, let them decide if the standard of workmanship is acceptable.
  2. I like to be educated by those who know better, if you don't ask you don't get 🙂. I've never been to proud to ask and happy to take on board what knowledge people are generous enough to give me, we learn something new every day hopefully.
  3. Faster processors ? Must mean something when considering advancements in a detectors ability to perform better than machines with older processors ? Not that I am an expert on the subject.
  4. I would forget his settings for awhile and get used to the factory settings and what they are capable of, it's going to perform better than the equinox 800 I would suggest so you won't be missing anything. Plenty of time to experiment later.
  5. Suggest you look at the info Chase has given in the Equinox forum under the heading "update on the horse shoe button" you will find contact details for the repair centre, sounds like it needs to be returned Unfortunately.
  6. I've just learned something thx for the info. Will be very useful to have this insight when I decide its time to move from my 800 to the Manticore.
  7. Ok thx. Good customer support I must say.
  8. Impressive. Who was your dealer can you say ?
  9. I agree the "drama" of not being able to buy a Manticore did need to have a bit of water tipped on it to get things put back into perspective. The excitement to the machine being an improvement to the 800 I feel was not drama.I think we older generation who have got the "T shirt" should let people enjoy the excitement knowing that if we were 20 years younger we would have been just as excited, god knows there's been enough doom and gloom over the last couple of years with covid. Soap box over lol.
  10. Cabela's have them in stock right now be quick and you might be lucky
  11. Stable tid numbers are very helpful and increase my hunting enjoyment I am a long term nox 800 user. I like to refer to them, if they vary by 2 to 3 numbers over a target that gives a good indication that the target is not round or could be a small target at depth also in areas that I hunt coins if they are not at great depth generally lock on to one tid number.
  12. Question for strick. Would be very interested on your findings with regard tid stability on the Manticore and the same could apply to the 900 I would think. The Videos I've looked at and been able to see the screen adequately seem to show (which is to be expected I suppose) quite a range of numbers being displayed when going over "good" targets which I think I would find off putting. I do like the stability of the 800 over good targets(I do fully understand that targets are bunched together tid number wise due to the compressed tid scale). Coins unless on edge with the 800 are stable and generally lock on to one or two numbers, if the numbers fluctuate over say 3 numbers the target is usually not round therefore unlikely to be a coin although depth does effect this. I like to check targets this way along with the tone response. There is a slight nuance with say aluminium as the tone sounds to sweet at times. I also appreciate that the 2d screen is there to be used but the question is about tid stability. Thx
  13. I am very much on the fence regarding the Manticore, one minute I want to buy one and the next minute I am unsure and think I will go for the 900 lol. There have not been enough glowing reports yet to convince me, purchasers seem happy with it but not blown away by it.
  14. Well Said agree completely, surely they must see it would be of benefit to them in the long run, stands out a mile. Just comes across a blatant disregard in my eyes.
  15. All comments so far from Purchasers of the 900 and Manticore seem to be all positive which is good news, are there any negatives even if they are small negatives(apart from not being able to get one lol), would be interesting to hear, I know its early days.
  16. You got your work cut out now lol especially as your in the uk, looking forward to honest write ups thx
  17. I think it would be a nice gesture for Minelab to at least acknowledge that there is thirst for more information on availability. A short statement is all that is needed. I do feel their silence on the matter is not helpful to their customers.
  18. I would be interested in the 900's unmasking ability compared to the 800 with comingled targets.
  19. I weakened lol said I was not going to watch anymore you tubers videos but just watched a couple of iffy signals latest. And horay he actually turns 90 degrees( a worthwhile check with minelabs)on a target and iron confirmation is indicated. My problem is that I will upgrade but the 900 seems to keep up with the Manticore very well. Being a long term 800 user I am not convinced yet that the Manticore is better than the 900 at separation and unmasking. If it isn't then the 900 seems a good upgrade.
  20. Agree would have been a good move by them to include a back button for easy menu navigation
  21. Thx for the detailed write up. I too like many others I would think have been wondering if there is any benefit to upgrading from the 800. Hopefully as time goes by more people will add their findings and opinions to your post. Interesting times.
  22. So I am sure a lot of you like me have watched a few you tubers videos and read a few threads, I have had enough of doing the you tube thing now and am happy to wait at least six months to see what the consensus is. Is anyone disappointed with what they have seen and the urge to own a Manticore less compelling. I personally have got past the must have phase.
  23. It would be very helpful if Minelab could be convinced to do a live stream to answer a few questions that we as minelab users and potential upgrade buyers would like to ask. This I feel would do them a great service and make each of us feel that our concerns actually matter to them
  24. I just feel that detecting is always about sound and the way we interpret it, experience and hours spent with the machine enhance it further. The tricks of the trade we learn along the way and the curiosity to dig that signal that we subconsciously know needs to be dug all adds to the thrill of finding something worthwhile. Eyes can deceive. I love this hobby I am always surprised when I least expect it and a wonderful find emerges from the hole.
