  1. For info 15 inch coils are being tested. Ignore the transmitter info if you wish but if you make to the end you will see he has a 12 x 15 coil attached.
  2. I take it your not happy with the Manticore then ?
  3. I have a second wm08 module I was thinking maybe the 105 headphones chip could be adapted to fit. ? Anyone know if this could be an option ?
  4. I posted these coments in the comparison forum a few days ago. As a beach detector looks like its the real deal. I dont beach hunt and live in Europe. I have actually sold my Manticore was not impressed and felt it was very much work in progress. In the cold light of day not much of an improvement I felt for the high price tag. Its to sparky and to noisey meaning that you have to constantly monitor the screen. More tiring than relaxing. You shouldn't have to lower the sensitivity down to much in normal situations and the max limit of 35 is useless in most situations and I feel was just to help with better specs and a selling point. The headphones are useless in windy conditions and you have no module to help enhance your audio experience. The screen suffers from screen glare at certain angles, battery run time isn't that good and the torch and vibration mode I would suggest most people wont use. The short noise cancel is not needed as the long press is a must in most situations. I may purchase again in the future but things will need to improve. Deus 2 seems to be the best upgrade at the present time. So thats my feelings at the present. The nox 800 is my preference at the moment and seriously looking at the 900. But Jeffs issues have me holding back to see whats what.

  6. Hi Jeff I expect you have been asked not to divulge any info regarding your chat ! itching to know if the engineer thought there was an issue ? or just your machine ? I presume its a watch this space scenario ?
  7. I would be very interested Jeff in your observations regarding the same site and lower sensitivity settings vs your 25 sensitivity settings. At my locations low to medium mineralisation with high trash causes information overload, lower sensitivity quietens and stabilises my machine down when things get noisey. Pretty sure updates are on the way and stability will be improved. The 800 is still up there and a great machine put it in the 900 body with new shaft, include a back button for navigation in the menu system and improve its unmasking and separation abilities in line with the 900 and I would buy it at a drop of a hat. Provided it also came with a module. Don't care about the flash light or the vibration. There my rant over πŸ€ͺ
  8. I can hear it about a metre away and can very faintly hear when wearing the headphones indoors. Out in the wild never hear it I would think. had the machine 2 days and was playing with the mode settings. Thx for reply puts my mind at rest.
  9. No the threshold level is set to zero ? It's very faint and stops when you change the mode. Head phones switched off and volume at 1 you can still hear it from the control box. I don't think it's an issue and it's probably because it's running hot. I've doubled checked all the settings. Just curious if anyone else has noticed it.
  10. Have noted on my Manticore that when switching to the high conductor mode that there is a noticeable high pitch hum coming from the control box ! Has anyone else noticed this on their machine ?. Apologies if this has already been answered, I know the setting is a high power mode so it may be the norm just curious if my machine is behaving normally.
  11. Can anyone recommend a dealer that will ship Sunrays internationally? I presume this is permitted on the forum? Thx
  12. Advice please Steve seriously thinking of this set up for the Manticore ( which is being delivered today) I live in Europe and would have to use international shipping for the Sunrays, I have only read great reviews for them, I have hearing issues in one ear so need dual volume control. So, I know its an individuals choice but I have no way of trying them out over here and I am not confident that the Gray Ghost NDT's are my best choice, as I value your wisdom and advice I would appreciate a guiding hand, thx.
  13. Thx Simon appreciate the in depth response and the time it took to write it. Glad your happy with your purchase I have decided now that I will buy the Manticore and have fun learning how to master it, I will keep my 800 as a back up. Thx again
  14. Hi Simon can I ask you now that you have had Time with the Manticore are you impressed or slightly disappointed with it ? I ask as I will have chance to buy one from my dealer when the next batch arrives which I am told will be in 2 to 3 weeks. I am still teetering on the fence and can't quite convince myself that it's $$$$$ better than the 900. Appreciate anything you can say on the matter. Thx
  15. Manticore users may wish to investigate on their own machines to see if this is an issue that needs to be reported to Minelab.
  16. I found his comments at the end of this video interesting looks like a software update is on the cards and it won't be too long before its available.
  17. I must admit as much as I want the Manticore to shine I am very wary of it now after hearing from owners. The jumpy Tid's I know I would not like, falseing I think that's just a learning curve we have to go through, I've not read one user review on any site yet or watched any valid you tube video that makes me lust after getting one, I know its early days, I also think that once users get used to the tones the 2d TT will mostly be ignored in most instances. How do you now find the TT after having used it now for a while ? If I do upgrade from my 800 the 900 seems to get my interest. Do people think that Minelab will stabilise the jumpy Tid's with a future update ?
  18. I was not impressed with the Manticores run time when the info was made available, my thinking and one that I would employ if I ever decided that the Manticore was actually worth owning would be to buy a second battery, its very easy to change out, take a look at iffy signals video on the subject.
  19. Don't know if you all have been following metal detecting nyc viral video but minelab have responded to him, yep they have actually come out of the shadows, Merrill will be posting a new version tomorrow which should enlighten us on a few subjects. I hope now that he has their ear he will ask a few other questions that potential buyers have been wanting answers for. Interesting, we will see πŸ™‚
  20. Disappointed for you thx for your honesty it does seem to be the consensus from what I can make out.
  21. Makes my head spin πŸ€ͺone minute ive decided the Manticore is the one to go for then reading comments from people that have them I'm not convinced at all πŸ™‚. No rave reviews unless you are a beach hunter(I'm not)then an easy choice I think. The 900 seems to be holding its own very well indeed. Decisions decisions my 800 has served me very very well.
  22. A good question in all seriousness, potential purchasers of the Manticore including myself who are still on the fence will need to understand that any review Simon is generous enough to provide us with will be from using his machine in near perfect conditions.
  23. I find you posts interesting, would like to hear more from you as you use and gain more experience with the 900. Do you find much improvement to the 800 in regard to performance, separation and tid at depth. Thx for the posts.
  24. My smart phone is sealed better than that, I do not think its acceptable, still worth sending photos though IMO just to see what the response is. Your not impressed so for your own piece of mind.
