Ctx-3030 Two Different 11” Coils?

I received two bad CTX-3030 11” coils and opened them up to see if I could fix them. First thing I discovered was the tx thick coil wires had multiple bad areas in them.  This takes time - all the while TX signal gets worse. Then there was an open in a red wire. But I continued to remove the black epoxy/plastic and discovered one coil had more wiring than the other. The one with the larger serial number had the additional wires - two black/white pairs. So is a newer coil better than an older one?

i wonder if minelab changed the wiring the same time as they strengthened the lugs as on the Manticore and Equinox 700 900 ?
