  1. Todays very short hunt left us soaked to the bone with not much to show for our efforts. Two cuffs for me, one with glass or stone, and the other I believe is an English navy cuff, I have dug two other Navy cuffs but not as nice as this one.
  2. I told him to knock it off, I'm just as excited as he is as the other coins just arrived for grading. Reminds me of waiting for our order of fishing lures to arrive from Cabelas when we were young.. This half has writing on the edge, a 1 over 1, and very small lettering on the word, America.
  3. Sweet find. That one was minted in Spain, great shape.
  4. My buddy that hit the 2 Liberty Caps has struck again a 1797 half cent along with a Connecticut Copper. He is going to group shot his coins for me.
  5. Slowing everything down looking for the deep signals at this point. Beautiful Tombac buttons, Tallio cuff button, 1775 George III, clipped George III, a giant dandy tombac and a small flat.
  6. Great find, that had to be a surprise, nice key date penny. That is a shame it has the damage, nice detail.
  7. Sweet find. I have one in my collection, I was sold soon as I saw the ship, tiny they are.
  8. Thanks by buddies going to be very pleased when he sees this.
  9. Thanks, I couldn't believe that the buckle was intact. Yes the sandy soil helps with the drainage here, along with the lack of fertilizer at this site is killer.
  10. Here they be. My buddy is sending them out to get graded.
  11. Could be some type of small trade or just a wealthy family. I dug a total of 58 buttons. It came and went whatever was there 1720s to 1794. My buddy hit 2 of the most beautiful 1794 Liberty Caps absolute stunners with very low mileage, we still are riding high.
  12. Time is limited as it wont be long before the flying teeth arrive. I dug these Free Masons cuffs 10 years apart and they are sporting crossbow bolt symbols. Thought you would enjoy.
  13. Five days of heaven and its not done yet. It was a nonstop adrenalin rush and I cant wait to get back on the site. My favorite is the silver buckle with a makers mark of silversmith Thomas Shields, he has a cool history and his works are in museums. All the silver buckles I have found have been busted up by the plow so this find was very speciaI. Dug 7 King George II coppers one was clipped, 4 George III coppers, 2 Connecticut coppers, 1 New Jersey copper, a 1723 Woods Hibernia halfpenny, French Louis XV 1 Liard [1719-1723], Spain 1724 2 Reales Madrid, Spain 1723 1 Reales Segovia, and a 1853 seated dime. A bunch of cuff links all of which I have found multiples of at other sites, they were sold on cardboard displays in general stores, I love finding them. Lots of buttons and smalls. Also found a similar Oak Island trade token whizzer.😏
  14. The m8 works beautifully in the thick iron infested homestead footprints for me. Excellent for sniffing out keepers in the briar patches and thick growth. Here in New Jerseys sugar sand this thing is very stable. I noticed deep items wont always have a VDI but it sure will let you know something there. Great tool.
  15. The T2 boost mode worked wonderfully over the top of the early planted rye. It was a button magnet, but it loved deep iron no matter how many directions you swung around it.
  16. Thanks Brad, find them Spanish cobs.
  17. My hunts consisted of 2 five hour hunts and on the last day a few hours that turned up 3 buttons and lead, all in the iron. Two deep signals were the brass buckle at around 18 to 20 inches wow, and the broken brass spike at about 16 inches. This was two weeks ago and I did not have time to post. I hit this site many times through the years and found a few coppers and large cents and they were in the surrounding field, a few buttons and smalls always turned up. I have a friend that I met and now hunt with that had been hitting this site years before me with others. I actually met him on an adjacent field and we have hunted together many times since. He scored big from what he told me. I spent many hours in that iron with other detectors and always would find a few buttons and smalls but nothing like this. I have been on another site since and pulled 27 buttons and smalls from the iron, seems repetitive to me still shaking my head. Cant wait for my better fields to open as the soy is still coming down. 18. Thanks Dave, I was totally surprised.
  19. Spending as much time as I could testing the Manticore before I jumped into the iron helped me understand the new detector. I wanted it to sound like my Whites DFX and took the Whites MX7 two channel audio on ferrous and non ferrous and applied it to my settings. I do not want to hear iron in the middle of the iron footprint of a homestead. What I noticed and later tested is that the Manticore reacts the same as my DFX, MXT, MX7 to say iron rings, cannon balls, axes, square iron buckles etc. as good target. I could tell they were iron because of the strength of the signal, if not overloading including the pitch and strength of the signal when lifting the coil. I'm very happy with this because I would hate to leave a cannon ball behind, love finding them. So with the ferrous volume at 1 and pitch at 1 there were the small churps and such but on a lower hearing level and the 2d mapping was a reassurance, the non ferrous targets stood right out to me. I also tested the Manticore with a six inch spike, a crusty nail and a silver dime in the middle. I had no problems detecting the dime within an inch and 3/4, recovery speed at 4 & 5. My finds after hunting 12 hours on a pounded site with the 11 inch coil. Many of the targets were accompanied with multiple iron nails and such. Not shown are many pieces of lead with all the smalls. Extremely happy with this detector, I wont be parting with it.
