Because of the volume of iron, luterally thousands of pieces, i used to have a custom program to notch out that 78-86 TID range.

What about the gold in this range?

With 1.0 and 1.1 the iron falsing at two of my beaches now comes in from 90-99, effectively making it impossible to notch out.

As a pure beach hunter, myself. If the Deus update would put all iron falsing 90-99 I would consider this the biggest gift EVER!
This would mean I could confidently pass iron and retrieve almost all gold targets. Not trying to be critical here but 40 silver coins that come out of the ocean is not worth squat. There is no collector value of silver out of salt water. One gold ring removal would crush what 40 silver coins are worth.

Ive left it installed so i can give it a fair shot for a few weeks.

I would seriously notch out this "new" iron range and concentrate on lower numbers. Am curious to see what other beach hunters are seeing for iron falsing.

Try out the 11" coil and the 6" coil in high EMI.

Well my reference to conditions is about EMI. If I can run the Equinox at 21-22 with the 11 and 15" coils, WHY would I ever want to try a 6" coil on a salt beach?

What if I told you for the block and a half that I have EMI issues on, the Deus2 is unaffected. {Which it is}  What detector would you pick and how would this affect your test?

This is why it was important to say what detector you were using. It also only confirms what you experience in one location. ONLY!   Not general rules on how all SMF will work.

As for the Tarsacci, it sounds like it might be the detector of choice for your location?

I didn't post what detector I'm currently using, because I think the results would be similar with any detector and its various coils.

could be wrong, but I don't see how a preamp in the coil, or a security chip in the coil, would affect the coil's susceptibility to EMI and ground impedance.

I think you are wrong, and it is a very narrow focused, test you did.

In four YEARS of running the Equinox on a daily basis the 11" and 15" were able to run 1-point of discrimination difference depending on the conditions that meant 21 on the 15" and 22 on the 11". also, if conditions were better, I could run 22 and 23 sensitivity.  I am not missing ANYTHING at these levels!

Your theory would be completely incorrect with a Tarsacci, as the 12" coil could run at the same sensitivity and that coil could clearly detect deeper than the 11X9.

After this next season of beach hunting, I will be able to confirm the differences of the Deus2 with 9" and 13x11" Coils. I am betting my sensitivity levels will be close!

I will say as a general rule a larger coil will not be able to run at the same sensitivity as a smaller coil. But small and large coils are also used for different reasons!

My beach programs are always on Tracking.  Works fine where I hunt but It's not universally true for each and every beach.

I suppose anything is possible. I have never met a salt beach where the machine is out of tracking. If one is hunting in and out of water contact, it would not matter the beach for sure.

It did occur to me afterward. Going to add it to this program when I go again if you recommend it and use it yourself. 🙂 Thanks.

Next week is all relic hunting in a mild soil environment, so it will be a while.

Is does not matter the machine. Equinox, Deus2 and Manticore. I run them ALL in automatic sensing Ground Balance at the beach.

This beach is a great proving ground for iron balance, if you're not balancing a lot you're going to dig a lot of junk.

Why not run auto-sensing Ground Balance?  It is recommended in a salt environment anyway.

I have large areas where mineralization is really strong and according to this simple test, audio filter maybe could help also on mineralized soils. But I have to study and understand on the field.

I have said this before and have been chastised some.

One better understand their Deus 2 and have the ability to dial this machine in for your location.  Or you may severely be handicapping yourself!

This, is why I am always burring a 14" gold ring when making changes at the beach.

It makes the Deus2 a bit of a PIA!

One of the things that I was going to try was running the Audio Response lower than my usual 5 as suggested by Paystreak in a video. I had no idea that Audio Response was one of the things that was beefed up in V1.0 and it turned out that was one of the major contributors to my falsing problems.

Audio response and sensitivity kind of go hand in hand. I hunt in audio 5 at the beach and like to control the rest of the noise with sensitivity.

Did you try a few points lower of sensitivity at 5?

Were you able to raise sensitivity when you ran at audio 4 in the update?

This is where testing targets at fringe depths really helps in knowing your machines performance.

Now tell me which part of the world is Iran that is not within Nokta's service area

Regardless of where you are it is YOUR responsibility to get the machine back to a repair center.

When I am 2500 miles away from my home in Mexico and a detector breaks, I have two options. Air freight it out at considerable expense or suck it up and bring it back home to the U.S. with me to mail.

Now you understand why I have back-up detectors!

I was able to confirm my assumption that pull tabs are indeed different in make up so if I wanted to notch them out, I would have to establish the range from 61 - 65.

Your ranges will expand in real conditions. The Deus throws numbers of tabs and gold all over the place. In my location because it is rough, I have lots of tabs missing some metal. These could come in low as 56. Also have had tabs go to 68. One is kidding themselves if they can block out any sort of tabs with the Deus 2 and not miss plenty of gold.

With the Equinox tabs were a 13-14 for 97% of them, THAT I could live with. The Deus 2 can even come close to this comparison.

Do you mean less falsing or less iron tones? The latter makes sense because at disc -6.4, you lose iron tone/volume, unless you force the next multi tone bin to a low pitch.

Yes. So I had the lowest bin set to a lower kHz, I think 205kHz. [no pitch]

I did not run -6.4 a lot. In testing it gave me the appearance that deep targets were muted more. [not crisp]  It did seem to handle black sand conditions better and iron some.
However, those iron targets that wanted to wrap-around still seemed to do that. Since I am using the 9" coil it made me concerned, I might miss some of those muted deep targets and just think they were blips or ticks. One has to watch their swing speed with the 9" coil.

With the new update it would be worth it to investigate this style some more.

Chase to be clear, setting the Disc to -6.4 didn't totally stop the falsing but it did make a noticable difference. I certainly don't understand the interactions of all the settings at this early stage in the game, but this oddity certainly got my attention!

To be honest. In .71 a disc. of -6.4 really made iron quiet on the beach too.

  13. 1 minute ago, 619_805_okie said:

It is TOO quiet. I like to hear it at my beach because if there's iron, there's coins and jewelry. Im hoping its my ears and that they go back to normal asap!

You could always turn the iron volume up some from the factory setting.

Myself, I would rather never hear iron again. If I want to hear something, turning the sensitivity up to hear slight falsing would suit me.
