  1. The color tones are similar, also, to the previous Manticore tease on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/MinelabMetalDetectors/photos/a.795474293826123/8527882333918575/?__cft__[0]=AZUWBI2Z2xD5EWPMXhEm5rg2YYGtUEv1rbiYj9-s8QK9khc3SU6ewpeuC6MlA22FirBjY0BRL6CwjOMzyArxjkYTr9o5yDGFNMnzWqrkMVkcWRZAF4FcGyDc-_IEWE_YT1L_i4Mo-gb54jYrz8b94zxy2ZaewojVmrpR63PRSDku1rspFXC2xehvm_A8bIU00Ao&__tn__=EH-R"
  2. But the Equinox had serious flaws with the breaking coil tab and leaks yet no updated model of the Nox was ever released unless you call the Manticore it. I can really only conclude this will be the release announcement of the Manticore next week.
  3. I don't know if I would laugh or cry if today's announcement was the announcement of the announcement next week to announce the date of the release announcement. LOL
  4. My dealer said the first wave of Manticores will be going out soon. Not sure if he has some more info from Minelab or just speculating. Of course, we've heard this word "soon" since last August. Here is what Minelab Customer Service just told me. "The MANTICORE manual is expected to be published online soon and prior to customers receiving units." "Thank you for your enquiry regarding the cryptic announcement posted today; it is a mystery to me also."
  5. That would be the biggest bonehead move by Minelab in their history. To announce an announcement and it not be the Manticore release might make me pull my Manticore order for real. I don't believe Crawfords knows. UPDATE: I contacted Minelab and told them to clarify their announcement because if it isn't the Manticore release, and people are being told that it isn't, customers are going to be POed. I also asked them to get the Manticore manual posted. Surely they have the final version.
  6. There is still no manual posted on the Manticore page. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with calling the screen plot "Target Trace." Since it isn't an actual trace of the target, as has been pointed out by several on this forum, could they not want to put out such information until it is released? The reason being that they don't want the manual immediately disputing what they have been saying about Target Trace before it is released.
  7. I doubt it for two reasons. 1. There was only one model revealed at the trade shows. and 2. Saying, "....it’s better the second time around." implies they are referring to something already out in the market.
  8. For Americans, that date is December 1, 2022, not January 12. Along with this non-descript video they stated, "On 1.12.22 you’ll find out why it’s better the second time around." No mention of the Manticore and unsure what they are referring to as the second time around unless they are comparing it to the Nox. Anyway, we can probably take this as a December 1st release of the Manticore. Yeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!
  9. Minelab will need to do a lot of sleuthing to figure out who I am from my unrelated moniker. Texas is a big place to search.
  10. But all this from Minelab got me to buy a Legend as a backup because I didn't want to buy a Nox and have the little brother to the Manticore. I've mostly been home learning it because the weather here has been wet and cold the last two weeks. I may get to a lake beach with it this week though.
  11. Let's take a deep dive on Minelab shipments to the U.S. Free data on this site shows two larger than average shipments in early November to the U.S. However, they are from Singapore, not Malaysia. https://www.importgenius.com/suppliers/minelab-electronics-pty-ltd This page shows those November shipments were metal detectors sent through the Tacoma WA port https://importkey.com/i/minelab-electronics-pty-ltd Of course, no where are these detectors labeled Manticores and they could be anything from Minelab. Thanks, Jeff and phrunt, for your insights.
  12. They could always have premanufactured parts sent to other factories and just ship updated parts or download software updates. Then they could assemble with the latest parts to supply initial orders in the U.S. or Europe. So, it is possible but, as you say, phrunt, unlikely. Today Minelab made two posts within hours of each other on their Facebook page. I've always seen them separate the posts by 2 to 4 days in the recent past. The latest post are just photos about Minelab presenting the Manticore in Mexico which happened weeks ago and were basically non-events. Maybe we need a spy in Malaysia to let us know if or when they see Manticores being shipped in mass from the factories.
  13. Here is a little info nobody has mentioned. In 2009 Minelab through their parent company, Codan, moved their detector manufacturing from Ireland to Malaysia with a manufacturing company named Plexus. Plexus also has several manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Europe and one in Mexico in addition to their Malaysian manufacturing facility. If you have an Equinox that was purchased during the initial release of that machine check to see if it was manufactured in the U.S., Mexico or Malaysia. That might tell us if Minelab is having some initial U.S. orders filled from U.S. or Mexico manufacturing facilities. Or if we are looking at shipments coming from Malaysia only.
  14. I would assume they fly the initial batch and ship the rest. I don't think there are as many pre-orders in the U.S. as one would expect. One dealer said they were somewhat light on orders and my dealer said I am at or near the top of his list although I didn't order until early October. I don't know about Europe but December for much of the U.S. means you can't even use it until March or April.
  15. That's encouraging, Hunterjunk. Maybe there will be a Nov. 30th release date and mid-December customer delivery date after all. I think the November FCC filings were some sort of headphone ID notification and not a long drawn out approval of the technology. We will know soon. But the lack of release of the pdf copy of the manual is worrisome for a quick release. The Miner's Den website says, "Anticipated release November - December 2022" Of course, that may only pertain to you chaps near Australia.
  16. We'll just have to see since there isn't any evidence to date to even compare the two machines. I did own a CTX shortly after they came out. I don't recall much about the screen but it was heavy and I couldn't find crapola with it. I don't think I had it that long so I didn't learn its nuances. Anyway that's when I sold the CTX and decided to give up detecting until something much better arrived on the market. If the Manticore isn't it, I'll probably sell everything detector related and retire permanently from dirt fishing.
  17. Well, I don't believe that the Manticore won't outshine both the Nox and the CTX. If not, then just unload it and go to the Deus II. Financially that would probably be a push.
  18. phrunt, you don't think they could improve on the CTX3030 Target Trace in 10 years? That would be a very sad state of affairs. Worst case, they have been hiding a mediocre Manticore detector by not releasing appropriate videos or tests and we wind up selling them for a few hundred (U.S. Dollars) loss. NEXT!!! LOL
  19. Not a peep from Minelab but Southern Relic Adventures has posted a video discussing the Target Trace screen just a bit as far as the information anyone has from Minelab. Minelab, either announce the release date or get some videos out for buyers to see to keep them interested. Radio silence is not helpful nor necessary!
  20. Wow!! Now that's a fright....er... I mean a frite.
  21. Read this about Manticores: "Manticores wander and fly around...... roaring occasionally. Manticores will notice the player from a 12 or 16 block radius, and will sprint or fly towards the target to attack." Watch out Deus II swingers.
  22. Not so fast, John. "Belgian food historian Pierre Leclercq has traced the history of the french fry and asserts that "it is clear that fries are of French origin." ~ Wiki
  23. LOL I could be dead before Minelab gets this detector in my hands, GB!! Of course, that could be said about any of us mortal souls. Sometimes I feel like I'm supporting the Manticore threads in this forum all by myself. Some days HOT and some days COLD.
  24. I thought that video was funny. All that about searching the old church and then they were just mowing the over gown lawn for them. Presumably so they could detect the grounds at a later date when the Manti is finally released.. I noticed they were wearing snake gaiters while mowing. There must be really nasty snakes in the tall grass even in the city in Australia.
