  1. No, I think it is a legitimate concern for some water hunters.
  2. You're in Belgium and I am in Texas, John. I doubt you will get your detector any sooner even if I pull my order! LOL Since I don't need the $1600 I'll probably just let it ride. But I will be very disappointed if we get to December 1st and haven't gotten any announcement from Minelab. Do you think the Manticore is going to leak, Doc? I guess they ALL will leak eventually if you take them in the water repeatedly. I'm not concerned about the control housing leaking since I'll probably never take it in water above my knees.
  3. I don't know if the Manticore is coming at the end of November or the end of January. But I do know Minelab is letting the Manticore story die. There hasn't been a 'real' video on Youtube about the Manticore in action for over a month and talk of the Manticore on the MD forums is dying out. People are starting to forget all about the Beast. I'm not a terribly patient person and I have a Legend in hand to play with. Maybe I should pull back my $1600 Manticore order until after it comes out and we see what people say about it.
  4. And Minelab filed for Manticore ML-105 headphone ID approval just 3 days ago. If I am reading this right, the FCC granted it the same day. Minelab Electronics Pty Ltd has filed for FCC ID approval on ML105 Wireless Headphones https://fccid.io/Z4C-ML105 8:40 PM · Nov 14, 2022·FCCID.NET
  5. Well, I just heard from my Australian dealer friend. He says nothing has changed. Still expecting an end of November release. I guess we'll see what happens.
  6. That sort of blows my theory out of the water, phrunt without a breakdown of hobby detectors vs gold detectors. I did, just now, send an email to that Australian dealer to see if he is still singing the same tune. I assume I won't hear anything until tomorrow U.S. time since it is night there now (as you know).
  7. I suspect the majority of Minelab customers are in Europe and North America. If that is the case, planning an early winter release for a new outdoor product is insane. "By Christmas" was a scam on us customers to manipulate us into not buying something else. But, there is that dealer in Australia that told customers that he was sending in orders to Minlab and told "His" release was going to be at the end of November with shipment arriving to customers by December 15th. I'm tempted to email him again and see if that is still his expectation.
  8. At first that wouldn't work for me. So, I did the other, holding the power button down then when it restarted I was able to do the Profile and the Pinpoint button to get the little revolving square then the Fd. I'll try and skip the Power button reset next update. The uploads went without a hitch. Anyway, I'm all set now. Thanks, everyone, for you help and support. I appreciate it.
  9. I think that yellow really pops and looks good too. I think orange probably works pretty good, too.
  10. Wow what a haul! You must have gotten your Manticore sooner than the rest of us!
  11. I've got the v1.09 installed and also the Threshold Volume Update. When they refer to "Resetting" the Legend after the update do they mean: 1. Holding down the Power/Settings buttons for 30 seconds? Or 2. Holding the Pinpoint button Until Fd appears on the screen? Or 3. Both? UPDATE: I think I figured it out. I couldn't get the Fd to appear until I did a reset by holding down the Power/Settings button for 30 seconds. I think I am OK now with the update.
  12. Thanks, DSMITH. I'm going to do that. Nokta should send them out with those highlights. Thanks, Jeff. I'll work on trying that as I learn the menu. I've got to get these buttons painted so I can see what I'm doing first!! LOL
  13. I ordered a Nokta Legend to give me something modern to learn while waiting for my Manticore. I studied the manual a bit then put it on my knee while I learned the menu a bit more. I noticed that you can't see the buttons unless you have a light shining right on them or are outdoors in the daylight. Anyway, I tested it on a few coins and other targets and got a general idea of what was where on the ID scale. I didn't think there was anything worthwhile left in my yard after being over it years ago with other detectors. But I did uncover a shallow aluminum can. I should have recognized that for a can but it was the only thing that came in as high as 45. When I had the pool put in I discovered that the Mexican workers didn't throw their cans in the trash. They would just bury them in the dirt they hauled in. That's not the first can I've dug up in my yard!! (No offense to any Latinos here.) I've also got a lot of copper wires running around the yard for sprinklers and pool features, etc. that aren't too deep and I tried to avoid those. I had forgotten how much of a pain it is to dig in this Texas clay when it is wet. It sticks to your shoes, your digging tools, your hands and anything else that happens to touch it. It took half an hour to clean all the clay off my Leach shovel under the hose. I also had to maneuver around the dog pooh I hadn't picked up for a week. LOL I did find a few of my things on the surface that the dog took outside and chewed up! She has chewed up expensive electronic things and shoes in the past. Fortunately, these items were not too expensive. She is off getting spayed today so she wasn't available to help dig. Yeah, they called and she is doing fine after her procedure. I think I'll try a lake beach next time. It's easier to scoop sand than dig in wet Texas clay.
  14. I really have no problem checking targets with fellow detectorists using different machines. We used to do that all the time on iffy targets just to get a different opinion of whether we should dig it or not. Of course, the two of you need to be in close proximity or you really are wasting time.
  15. rled2005, I don't know which video it was but on one of them where they turned a potential buyer loose with a Manticore in a field in Europe does show just that. There was a target on the conductive line and another target on the same screen making a blob up in the iron range. It wasn't gold but the idea was the same. How well it does that with gold we are yet to find out.
  16. Nor December. Looks like 2023 as those experienced with these shenanigans have said. "sigh"
  17. It's becoming obvious that you are a D2 fan girl. Go to the XP forum so you can share with other fan boys and girls.
  18. I've been told that the Deus III will come with an automatic digger feature. Just push a button and it will retrieve the target.
  19. I noticed 2 or 3 just in the right hand "Classifieds" column of this page, if they haven't scrolled off yet.
  20. I noticed there are some Minelab specials with free coils, etc. happening right now. I was just wondering what if Minelab runs a Black Friday special on Manticore pre-orders. Do we all cancel our existing Manticore order and place a new one with another dealer to get the discount or free extra coil or whatever or do we just call our existing dealer and ask for the special?
  21. I'm beginning to realize that the best detecting location is the backyard of metal detector owners. Just find their test bed and dig up those targets!! Sounds like a good way to find coins, rings and jewelry fairly consistently. LOL I know I left a small gold ring in the back yard of the house we sold in Florida when we moved to Texas. My detector was packed away and I dug out the spot I buried it but couldn't find the gold ring without a detector or pinpointer!!! My loss.
  22. Silicone is pretty flexible after it dries and can generally be pealed off a surface. A little testing with a tube of it would be in order before using it.
  23. I agree. But those who already own it need to do something in certain cases.
