  1. I ordered one as I hate fiddling with the screw-in charging plug. But thanks for the warning about the flimsy build! I will be sure to take extra care when plugging it in so I don’t bend or break any pins!
  2. I fixed a magnet in there as well and it keeps it handy. It doesn’t seem to have done anything adverse and lets me quickly check for iron. Just used a double-sided sticky pad.
  3. My Steve’s Detector Rods CF shaft came with a locking RC mount which has worked very well for me. It’s very high quality with a metal thumbscrew. The lock secures the RC tightly with no wiggle and I feel completely at ease with it.
  4. Good caution, especially for water and beach hunters. Sinclair posted about this earlier. He uses a sticker cut from a roll to cover the speaker grille to prevent this. Even though I haven’t started water hunting, I have started doing the same thing since I see a lot of black on the beaches that I hunt. I bought a roll of clear T-rex repair tape on Amazon for about $14 and cut a swatch to cover the grille holes and the door edges. So far so good.
  5. My original purchase was with the WS6 Master mounted on the sports-like over-the-ear mount. I very soon thereafter opted to purchase the XL headphones. My detecting has mostly been on the beach where I find myself almost always using the XL headphones because of the noise reduction (wind, waves, people) resulting in much better audio. I find them very comfortable for at least a couple of hours at a time. Yes they do get sweaty on the hot sunny days but any full-cup headphone will. So I see it as a miner tradeoff (IMO) for the much better audio performance. They are also perfectly integrated with the remotes, turning on and off with the controller. I really find them perfectly suited to my detecting style.
  6. Ahhh. Thanks for the tip! I use a cover for my Remote to keep spray and sand off of it but I haven’t dunked it yet. I’ll cover the grille with a waterproof tape when I get deeper into the water — when it warms up a bit.
  7. Absolutely. I love the 9” being the lightest of all. A 10x5 would be great for maneuvering over cluttered ground.
  8. Couldn’t be happier. This is the best accessory anyone could want. The quality and workmanship are just fantastic. The balance is perfect and makes it feel weightless.
  9. I just got my Steve’s complete carbon fiber shaft. I ordered it partially because my tennis elbow was acting up on my left arm so I first tried swinging with the left and digging with the right. I then got a 9” coil (originally came with an 11”) to help further reduce weight. Haven’t had a full day hunting yet with it but it feels really great. I discovered that I could move the arm cuff way up so it sits under my elbow which reducing flexing of the joint. Also I was able to turn the cuff inward towards my body so the larger stand faces away from me and doesn’t get in my way as I swing. I think this is going to be a great addition. Now I have 2 detectors.
  10. Thanks! Lots of great information here and it looks like a really great community.
  11. New member from Oceanside, California. I had done a good bit of detecting in the early '80s mostly in and around Monterey, California. But hadn't done much since then. I just got an XP Deus 2 in September to get back into the hobby. Just been doing beaches so far. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone's experience and connect wih others with the same interests.
