My Research Is Starting To Pay Off
Lead Detector replied to Lead Detector's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I have a sluice and a drywasher. I plan on utilizing them both. Plenty of water to run a sluice now. Later in the summer, the drywasher should come into play. Wish I could get out there for more than a day at a time. -
Ms3 Z-Lynk Kit Opinions Pro & Con
Lead Detector replied to Lead Detector's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I was leaning towards the z link so I wouldn't need multiple adapters for my atx. The avantree setup looks nice. I like the external speaker idea, but not sure the earbuds would cancel out wind and river noise. I'd also need multiple adapters for the atx . I don't even mind my ms2's , but the cord is too short when I'm doing my scoop over the coil. Seems like people have bad experiences with the z link though, so I will have to think it through for sure. -

Well you could've fooled me. You seem extremely knowledgeable of Detectors and how they work. -
My Nokta Gold Kruzer. It Must Be Me!
Lead Detector replied to Lead Detector's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
After 5 months of trying to repair and replace parts, it looks like they are just sending me a new machine. I'm glad this will be over soon. -

Well, if you can show me how to find gold amongst the can slaw and nails, let me know when you're in the area. Lol -

A little late reporting on the trip, but here it is. We got a late start (did I mention my wife was coming with?) . First spot we tried was a dry tributary creek. I quickly gave it the proper name of "can slaw creek" I was using the atx, so there was no cherry picking targets. After about an hour, and 5ft later, we abandoned that spot. Next spot was a small tributary creek running about 3ft wide. Took the gold kruzer out and grabbed the gold pan and put the coil in the water. Got some targets behind a bigger rock, and just scooped what I could out into the pan. Every pan had several specks of gold. I forgot my snuffer bottle in the truck, so most went back to grow bigger. My last pan I decided I better save something, so I went and grabbed my snuffer bottle . These were the biggest pieces of the day ... Nothing to write home about. We finished off the day checking some tailings piles that the rancher used as his gravel pit. No luck there. The main creek in the area was running like a river. I will definitely be hitting that later this year. I wasn't able to get back to where I wanted to be on that trip. The roads (and my wife) would not allow it lol I'm hoping to find some bedrock in that area. It's a big place. We didn't even scratch the surface. I'm still very optimistic about the area. I might even sneak out there tomorrow without the wife lol -

That's a great price! If I didn't already have one, I'd be seriously considering it. -
New Pulse Induction Detectors From Nokta
Lead Detector replied to Luis's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Nokta seems very innovative and puts out good products. As long as they don't pull "a storm is coming" time frame, they have my interest on this one. I was leaning towards an axiom for my next purchase, but finances are giving me time to lurke a bit longer. Hope it's a quick release, and someone on this forum can fill us in on their time with the test model! 😁 -
I've been curious about how lead compares to gold in depth testing. This was done with my garrett atx with both the 11x13 DD and the 8" mono coils. On a 3.8 gram gold nugget, both coils maxed out at 7.75". On a 10.25 g lead slug, maxed at 7.8 ". On a 19.5 g lead slug, max was 8.5". The 11x13 maxed at 2.6" on a 0.23 gold nugget, and 2.25" on a 0.25 g lead shot. The 8" mono maxed at 3.1" on the 0.23 gold, and 2.95 " on the 0.25 lead shot. The 8" mono also maxed at .295" on a 0.13 gold picker. Conclusion = when testing with lead, expect to get better depth on gold. It does show me that the 8" mono out performs the 11x13 DD on gold up to 4 grams and under. So the 8" mono is going to live on the ATX most of the time. The dirt was moderately mineralized, and targets were buried. It's not a perfect experiment, but it's information I didn't have before. Hope this information is useful to someone.

New Pulse Induction Detectors From Nokta
Lead Detector replied to Luis's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
I'm guessing they will be basically the same detector, but come with different size coils, and programming. It would be easy enough to just program them for the name they need to slap on the side, and produce coils according to sales. I could be, and probably am wrong, but it's my guess anyways. By selling 2 Detectors, with specific jobs, they will please more hobbyists. When the more experienced realize either detector will do both jobs with the right coil and settings, it will be a win win. -

I'm finally going to spend a day on this permission tomorrow. It will be my first time out in a known gold bearing area. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm heading there with high hopes, and will probably leave with a big dose of reality. Either way, my wife and I will have a great time. I'll update with any good finds. -

Great, now we're waiting on 3 new Detectors in the US. Any bets on what becomes available first.... af1500, garrett storm, or the new nokta PI? It'll keep everyone guessing for a while for sure.
