    Good day to everybody

Here goes nothing been reading this forum for years yet i never sought advice until now never 2 old right. I have been reading through most of the black sand post but still undecided what to do.I mainly do underwater searching and some land also . To cut the story short im looking for a machine that will work in the most terrible black sands and hot rocks. for salt I use an excal 2, sov gt, or garret m2 none work or sometimes maybe 2 inches.  Out of the water burning hot sand and black mineralized beaches  just ruin my day nothing works not even pulse pinpointers machines go crazy. I dont know if sand is as bad as in hawaii but this whole place came out of the ocean by volcanic activity.

So i was  reading about 2 detectors one the atx working well on black sand and the other fisher impulse detector. On one hand i think the atx is old  but seems to do well in this medium the  coils are expensive and id imagine repairs also. And then we have the  fisher impulse that  looks flimsy with the thin cables but also has good feedback and is a newer machine and lighter. I had a third option but did not find any used dual tdi just to test and see if it will function and who will repair.

will upload pics of sand for ref all my pacific coast is loaded wit black sand and volcanic rocks, atlantic side is a breeze location panama. I am open to any suggestions!

welcome to DP, i am sure someone will pipe in, with some suggestions, that is some nasty looking black sand, not sure you will find a detector to see through that, and I have never dealt with black sand like in your photos to give you any good advice but I am sure there are some here that have.

    Again welcome to DP

I'm considering getting an ms3 z-link kit to go cordless. Please comment with your thoughts and experience with this setup.

From personal experience of using the ms3 Z Link (Transmitter only) I would go with a low Latency Bluetooth wireless transmitter and the Avantree Torus Neckband speaker system something like the Avantree Relay and the Avantree Torus Neckband speaker system.

the reason I state what I have is with the Garrett ms3 Z Link it can only be used with the Garrett wireless headphones unless you go with the ms3 Z ink that includes the TX transmitter and the RX receive box then you could use any wired headphones plugged into the RX box, with a wireless Bluetooth Transmitter you could use any wireless earbuds that are aptX LL compatible and you would be completely wire free

Links attached for the Avantree Torus and Avantree Relay, these are the way I would go

    https://avantree.com/torus-nb05-bluetooth-wearable-speaker

    https://avantree.com/relay-airplane-bluetooth-adapter

I also tried the Quest Wire Free Lite which is similar to the Garrett MS 3 Z Link

I hope someone wasn’t expecting something to be shipped in it, then when they couldn’t find it they went on to the next one. That would’ve been pretty bad!

Nothing would surprise me anymore, what is odd is they never touched the 13x11 just that 18 inch coil.

Wow, someone must’ve gotten some sort of a red flag on coil shipments, but testing an item destructively that way and not reporting the damage to you was ridiculous.

Submit a form 95 claim to customs for destruction of property- this explains it on their website:

    https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-178?language=en_US

Was the shipment insured?  One issue I can think of happening is maybe that they will try to blame the Bulgarian customs office on it if they inspected it before it was exported. You may need proof that that didn’t happen either.

yeah this was nothing but pure vandalism by one of the Customs agents in my opinion, I will be filing a complaint and trying to get satisfaction on this, there was no need for what they did to that coil, I believe they could have ran it through their ex-ray machines and seen that there was no drugs or anything else illegal inside that coil. I could not believe it when I opened the box and seen what they had done to this coil, one 3/8 inch hole would have been bad enough but to literally drill 5- 3/8 inch holes through the windings inside the coil that is ridiculous to say the least.

  5. Can anyone tell me how you file a complaint against customs for damaging an Item I ordered that came in from Bulgaria

I recently ordered a coil for a Golden Mask 7 metal detector and customs literally destroyed the coil by drilling 5 holes through the top of the coil and through the windings of the coil and then re packaged it, have no clue what they thought they were doing by what they did, they could have ran this coil through their ex ray machines and most likely seen that it contained no drugs or any other illegal things, in my opinion this is blatant miss handling of a product that came in from an outside country, I see this as vandalism of property, and just someone up to no good, luckily I had also ordered a 13x11 coil that escaped customs scrutiny, and mischievous behavior, I believe this was done after it arrived to the U.S also in either New York or Cincinnati Ohio, which is the route it took before coming to Tucson

I have contacted Golden Mask and awaiting a response but with it being the week end I most likely will not receive a reply back until next week

Also this post is for a heads up of what could take place when ordering something from another country like coils and things like that

Is that a Garrett in the first pic?

That does look like an AT series Garrett Detector LOL, that is odd LOL that there would be a fisher add with a Garrett detector in the photo

Maybe the Storm is not about a new detector at all, but maybe a merger between Garrett and Fisher LOL who knows, but that would be something Big to talk about, probably reading to much into that first photo though

What's the difference between discrimination and notching, like is there a difference under the hood?

Does discrimination give you clipped tones like notching can??

I just got a deus 1 machine so I'm curious, I am coming from nokta machines which only have notching

Since no one has responded to you

when you Notch a target ID out you are discriminating anything in that target ID range out, so they are one and the same in my opinion, and yes those discriminated targets or notched targets can give you a clipping sound when you swing your coil over them

Has anybody used the Golden Mask brand metal detectors?  I believe the company is from Bulgaria.

    https://www.goldenmaskdetectors.com/

Yep I actually own two, The Golden Mask Pro 4 WD and the Golden Mask 7 love both of them, had to order directly from Golden Mask to get both, and yes they are in Bulgaria

The GM 4 WD was the first one I ordered from the time I ordered the 4 WD to the time it was delivered to me was 7 days and that was with a 4 day hold up in Customs in Cincinnati Ohio

The Golden Mask 7 from the time it was shipped to the day it was delivered to me was 5 days

I could not have asked for a purchase and delivery to go any smoother than those two detectors went

The 4 WD i did get a little nervous when it got hung up in customs in Cincinnati Ohio for 4 days

(was Having visions of the FBI) showing up at my house LOL being as to how it was the first time I had ever placed an order like that with a company I knew nothing about, but I will tell you Golden Mask goes out of their way to try and make the transaction go as smooth as it can go, I would not hesitate in making another purchase directly from Golden Mask Again very good company to deal with, shipping charges are quite high is my only issue with purchasing directly from Golden Mask though

The GM Pro 4 WD is a selectable Single frequency detector that runs 8 and 18 KHz you flip a toggle switch to change frequencies all analog detector

The GM 7 is also a Selectable Single Frequency Detector that runs 4,14,24 and 44 KHz according to Golden Mask the GM7 is 80% analog and 20% digital, the GM 7 has Park, Field, Beach and Gold modes

I use both the 4 WD and the GM7 and honestly They are both so good that I can not figure out which of the two I like the most

  9. I do wear hearing aids and I also experimented with my hearing aids connected to the Nokta Legends Bluetooth which is aptX LL audio codec, while my hearing aids did connect to the Legends Bluetooth and I was able to hear the tones from the Legend the Lag was pretty severe, could I have detected that way if I had to of course but it would have made locating and digging targets rather tiring LOL

the hearing aids I have have two settings one of the settings is to turn them into wireless earbuds for listening to music, you double tap one or the other and they will switch to headphone mode, again they did connect and you could hear the tones from the detector but Lag was an issue

I joined the Facebook Group. Showed a picture with a large amount of early coinage. The Header read, good morning from Virginia. Some early English cut halves were shown. Three persons attacked me with various insults. You would think the guy who went to Harvard could read, 😷, I guess not. I was a this and a that. Strange the rules said these kinds of remarks are forbidden. Never said I dug them. Just posted the picture to inspire the newer detectorist.   Your turn now! 😇

yeah the Facebook people are a little different, honestly I do not think there are no rules on there for some

  11. well I spoke to Rita at Garrett this morning and told her parts were missing from my order again

(and no I did not get nasty with Rita) not her fault LOL, she did ask me what I meant by again so I told her, that I have placed three different orders through Garrett Direct and each time I had to call in to get things sent that it plainly states are included so she looked up my past and current orders, and said she was taking notes and that they would send me the missing accessories for the transmitter, we exchanged pleasantries and hung up the phone, fast forward a few hours latter and I receive an Email from Bob Richardson Director of US consumer Sales with a heart felt apology.

Bob stated in the email that he is going to bring up my issues with the shipping department and use it as a training opportunity, for their shipping department, I honestly believe that Bob is going to do as he stated and things may get corrected in the shipping department of Garrett Direct, he also stated they do not receive many calls with complaints about missing items in orders, and stated Garrett will get them corrected so it does not happen again, he also stated that they shipped my missing accessories out and threw in a couple of items to thank me for bringing this issue to their attention.

I was pleasantly surprised at receiving that email from Bob Richardson, very good customer service on Garrett's part reaching out like Bob did

Thank you to Bob Richardson and Rita as well as Garrett

If there was alcohol being served at the anniversary party that could explain the little opened box and the missing items!! LOL

Thats a possibility LOL, Alcohol and work usually does not mix very well LOL

Does the box come with a packing slip ?

there was no packing slip in the box that it was delivered in, which I thought was a little odd also

The other thing I found odd when I opened the larger shipping box that they shipped the transmitter in the smaller box that contained the transmitter was literally open, like someone grabbed the box the transmitter comes in and just threw it in the larger shipping box, but if the parts that are missing were there when they threw that little box in the larger shipping box then the missing accessories should have been in the larger shipping container, of course this is all speculation on my part LOL

I think the new Lite package price has become a permanent sale, in other words the new price; it was meant to be just for Easter but now that wording has disappeared yet the sale is still going.   Good news if this is the case.

They're down to 13 in stock now from I think 40 to start with.   27 detectors sold from one dealer (Garrett Australia) so far during this price adjustment.  There are a number of other dealers running the sale too.   $135,000 Australian dollars in Garrett's pocket they probably wouldn't have without doing this price adjustment, it's just a shame they didn't enter the market at this price as uptake would have been much higher.

I'd call that pretty successful, a lot more Axioms roaming around Australia now than before.   Speaking to X-coils too, requests for Axiom coils have started to pick up with more owners of the detector in Australia, that's a very positive thing for the future of coils for it.

when you adding one of them Axioms to your stables Simon LOL

We might just get some of them after market coils after all if it keeps up LOL, I want something smaller and with out those dang blunt noses for my Axiom

  16. I am like @Jeff McClendon the thoughts of it are nice, but until it actually becomes available for sale in the U.S i aint loosing no sleep over it LOL, my interest are still there but when it becomes available, then I will become excited again LOL

And yes to your other question I am also thinking about other detectors I would like to try LOL but I am always thinking about other detectors I can spend my kids and my wife's kids inheritances on, in other words when I am dead and gone there aint going to be no inheritances left to go to anyone and I have a long ways to go in spending before that happens LOL, so what is the next purchase I am planning you might ask well I am currently looking at the Nexus MP v3 rite now or the Nexus MP v2 just cannot make up my mind which one I want at the moment LOL
