Do the rechargeable batteries use the same holder? Manual not that clear on that. Also regular nicads? And are going rechargeable worth it due to shorter use.? Thanks , Joe

to answer your question yes you can use the same holder for Alkaline AA's or rechargeable's, in fact Garret supplies you with 8 Rechargeable AA batteries and the charging Dock at least mine came with those things, plus it came with a thing that you could connect to you battery in your vehicle to allow you to charge your batteries while in the field detecting if needed

  2. I been looking for something that I could use to cover up the Bunks hermit pick so i could carry it on my back but no way would I carry the hermit pick on my back without that head covered because if you fell and that spike was in the wrong direction it would end up being one bad day for you

Yeah, that can probably work.  The only issue with that is if you ever decide to switch to a Deus 2, you would have to dig the Velcro strips out and might have adhesive residue on the mount internals.

I will not ever be switching over to a Deus 2 so that might be worth me giving one a try with my ORX

Ok.  So, I was on the road and happened to be near enough to a Chesapeake Bay beach park that I decided to take a detour and swing my Deus 2 detector around on the sand using my new RC Digs mount that is compatible with Steve's CF Shaft system customized for the Deus.

To cut to the chase...it was fantastic.  Even with Steve's superior locking mechanism for the "traditional" Deus 2 case mount, I was always concerned about the remote working loose and falling off as I often am manipulating the remote keys for target interrogation, pinpointing, and adjusting settings for changing site conditions.  This is especially true when salt beach hunting.  The RC Digs mount was secure and the angled positioning enabled a great, glare free view of the display with simple quick glances.  It just gives you a lot of piece of mind that your remote is going to be secure without the need to deal with locking mechanisms and backup lanyards.

I wasn't expecting to find anything here because it is off season and devoid of any fresh drops but had fun anyway and picked up a few stray coins and sinkers and also managed to snag a solid 925 silver bangle bracelet that gave off a weird Target ID because it was buried unlatched.  Bonus!

I already highly recommend Steve's CF shaft system for the Deus, especially for beach and water work, and with the option to now to select the RC Digs mount to house the Deus 2 remote, it is even better.

I do recommend the angled RC Digs mount unless you have people sharing the shaft that may have a different dominant swing arm, in which case, opt for the straight on mount.

As I posted above, you can use the RC Digs mount for your Deus 1/Orx but the fit is not ideal as the remotes for Deus/Orx are smaller than the Deus 2 and they will rattle around in the enclosure unless you snug them up using a slip-on remote cover or shims.  Button alignment is not ideal either, but will work.

I have no additional improvement suggestions other than those mentioned by other previous users of the SteveG shaft with the RC Digs modified compatible mount.  It is a killer combination!  Thanks, @steveg for letting me run the new mount through its paces, you have a winner!

Chase do you think two pieces of sticky backed Velcro 1 placed on each edge inside the compartment maybe one in the bottom would work to snug the ORX remote up, i am talking about the side of the Velcro that is the fuzzy side Just a thought, just trying to work out what could be done in my head to keep the ORX remote from Rattling around inside the compartment.

If you have some Bluetooth LL headphones already from another detector you could just buy a LL transmitter, Avantree have some good ones available, the Avantree relay is good.

Although I do not have a GPX 4500 I have been using that little Avantree Relay and the Avantree Torus with every detector I own other than the Legend which has built in aptX LL Bluetooth and that little Relay that @Wiggins sent and it works great no Lag and no cutting in or out, with my Axiom I have not noticed any kind of interference or background noise at all.

I keep wondering what Avantree is cooking up since @Wiggins thread

DSMITH -- that's a good question, regarding the ORX.  I am not sure if the ORX control box would fit properly into the RCDigs mount, or not.  My shaft is compatible with the ORX (including my mount, I'm near certain), but not sure about the ORX, and I don't think the guy who makes them has an ORX remote available to him, to check it out.  If you would like me to send you one for you to check it out, let me know.  We can work something out in that regard...

    Thanks!

    Steve

Absolutely would like for you to send me one and then I will let you know how it works with the ORX what do you need from me Steve

I don't think it's always about making a living as it is about being proficient. Do you use it as an excuse to get out? Or are enthused about being able to find stuff in the ground? Either way I get it. Thanks for the reply and keep at it.

Honestly its about both for me i use it as an excuse to get out as well as to find stuff, would I love to dig a 1-10 ounce nugget without a doubt LOL who wouldn't, but it is not necessary, do I try to become proficient at metal detecting with each detector I own absolutely, if my lively hood depended on finding something of value I might look at things completely different, but again personally for me I really do not care if I find anything its just about being out and not sitting on my Butt in the house which drives me crazy, i figure if I get out and get my wife out we are at least getting some exercise, and trying to stay a little healthy.

  8. I am like @F350Platinum I do not spend money on different detectors thinking I will make a living from detecting or thinking I am going to recover some big find that I can sell to make a profit on or make me famous as a metal detectorist LOL, all the detectors I have purchased other than one I have found enough that they paid for themselves some a few times over, the reason I purchase a detector is to learn a new detectors differences and to just get out of the house and enjoy the great outdoors, which I could do with the very first detector I ever purchased, meeting different people and just enjoying being out detecting, it is not about the money for me but rather doing something I love to do, if I do find something all the better and is gravy on top of the adventure, did I need any of the detectors I have purchased to do what I love to do (Nope not Really) I can enjoy what I do just by looking around at the different landscapes and exploring different areas, the detectors just make it a little funner when exploring.

When I do purchase a different detector I do try to learn as much as I can about that detector by talking to others and asking questions, some of that learning can only be done if you get out and swing that detector, but as far as purchasing a detector to try and make a living nope, its about learning new tech and things like that, but in reality what I have figured out is I could take the very first detector I ever purchased out with me and have just as much fun as I do with the newer so called technically advanced detectors, they all find metal some may do it a little better than others, but if I were to think about the money I have spent then it probably would not be near as fun anymore purchasing the different detectors.

  9. That order picker will sure make it easier for you Doc, glad you found something that will most likely make things much easier for you

how stable is that order picker when its fully extended up with boxes and other stuff, plus a person

  10. I use the Quest X Pointer Max with the Magic Holster and I do the same thing when doing my frequency scan on the Axiom turn on the X pointer max and then perform the frequency scan, once the Axiom is finished with the frequency scan I just put the X pointer max in the Magic Holster which put the X pointer max in Stand by mode, have not had any issues of interference between either of them

I'm new to this Hobby and excited to learn all I can. Have just bought a CTX 3030 with all the bells and whistles.

I worked in Bouse for a while when I was a heavy equipment operator, we were building the Second pumping station for the CAP (Central Arizona Project), was not much in Bouse when I worked there a Bar and a little convenience store, I was living in Parker at the time which was a 50 mile drive everyday or night to get to work

For small cost items items they have most likely have a minimum transaction fee. It would not be worth their time to have someone processing  $5.00 transactions all day long. Consider how many people loose those little nuts and bolts and how many calls they get on them...so charging 33 bucks is how they can make it worth their while...Im my business I have people calling me all the time for little things 7 days a week so I charge accordingly..they can pay and continue to call or not..its their decision.... and truthfully it is still not worth it to me but I do it as a service to my customers... this is just customer service stuff

Now here is how you get ripped off by a business.....you go into a restaurant that makes burritos place an order to go and then wonder why it costs so much...checking the receipt you see that they charged you $5.00 for a 16 ounce soda...fool me once lol

    strick

Well I will agree with you but here is the thing when someone is also purchasing a coil or had just purchased a coil, that cost rite at $400 that should be taken into account when quoting the price of something, that cost pennies to manufacture also

Which I  had just placed an order also for a coil for the Axiom and my order had not even shipped out yet, those three little pieces could have been put in a zip lock bag and thrown in the same box that the coil came in , for me personally a new coil bolt and the two rubber washers should be included in the cost of each new coil, and some manufactures do include the coil mounting hardware and some do not Garrett just happens to be one that does not, (which is ok) but those three little parts should not cost $33, I do not care how much of an inconvenience it is to ship little parts $33 is beyond ridiculous in my opinion it should be part of the service when you have spent a few thousand dollars on equipment from a manufacture

again i do appreciate it that Rusty went ahead and sent me those so I have an extra one, luckily I have never lost a coil bolt or the two little rubber washers off of any of my detectors but there is a first for everything, and I am sure there are some that have.

I never inquire but how big is your waist so I have some idea low large a person one belt will fit.  I thought the belt was pretty generous in terms of adjustment.  Obviously I was wrong.

    Doc

@Doc if you would Double the Length plus maybe 4-6 inches on your current utility belt it would most likely fit a wide variety of body sizes, as your utility belt currently is, I could not get it all the way around me even adjusting the Velcro pieces to make it as long as I could, I still needed another 18-20 inches of length on a single one, but the cost you have on those utility belts is cheap enough that purchasing two and clipping them together is a no brainer at least it was for me

I think if litigation was a problem, it would rear its ugly head in Australia, it's an Australian made detector and just down the road from Minelab HQ, it's not from some far land where they have no control of the situation  So, being concerned it won't make it into the US for this reason like Quest is doing is a non-issue.

Perhaps the reason it doesn't have ground tracking doing the automatic adjustments is for this very reason, it is tracking the ground, you can see it on the screen, it just doesn't do the process for you.  No big deal, and for me I prefer it this way.  This is just me speculating of course.

Without the Bluetooth transmitter and battery included some of the hurdles have already been overcome, so the FCC testing shouldn't be too brutal.

Plenty of the people on this forum don't even need one, when armed with both a 6000 and a 7000 unless you're using it for something other than gold prospecting it's not going to offer you that much.  If you have a 7000 it offers a bit, and for anyone with an earlier GPX it offers quite a lot, and also shares coils with it, a great thing to get for those people.

The real winners are those new to prospecting wanting to buy a PI, they get a great unit an affordable price and don't have to feel like they're missing out by not having to sell a kidney on the black market for body parts to buy a Minelab.

Only reason I will be picking one of these up is because I can choose the coils I want to use instead of being locked in to the six Garrett has put out for the axiom, if Garrett would come out with a few more coils for the Axiom or someone come out with a selection of coils, I most likely would not even be considering purchasing this new E1500 but it is what it is, my Axiom is not going any where either way in fact I will have my kids bury me with all my detectors in the casket LOL at least the ones I like, cause I do not have anyone to leave them too when I am gone so may as well carry them to the pearly gates with me.

Not sure about you guys in the USA but down under this way, there's a heck of a lot of SDC2300's suddenly for sale.

I think it's RIP to the SDC2300....it's not like anyone bought it for its water proof rating.

Minelab will counter-attack this year........I'm sure of it.

I'm also sure that no one at Minelab is singing Zip-a-dee-doo-dah 🤣

Hopefully by that time there will be thousands of the E1500s in peoples hands and Mine Lab wont be getting that money LOL

I will PM you my Size Doc LOL

  17. the thing that shocked me is when I called Garrett and talked to Rusty, I ask him if they sold the Coil mounting hardware for the Axiom, Rusty stated yes they do but you probably will not like the price of them, LOL so I asked how much are those three little pieces, thinking they cannot be much over $5-$8, Rusty kind of laughed, and states those three little parts are like $33.99, I said are you kidding me or what and i said are they made of gold LOL Rusty stated that's what they are charging for that one bolt and two little rubber washers, (i could not believe it), then a few days later I get a package from Garrett and Rusty had sent me a set of the coil mounting hardware one bolt and two rubber washes, Needless to say I have those three little parts in my safe so I do not loose them

Well having been a dealer for 35 years if you gave me your money to order a coil that is advertised as having a coil cover I'd have got you the coil cover. And then I'd have beaten it out of the manufacture on my own, not dump it on you. Or eaten it as I did many time because my customers are my customers, not the manufacturers customers. But if it's advertised on the website as having a cover they would cough it up, I have no doubt of that.

FYI for anyone dealing with Garrett email is not their forte. Call the 800 number and talk to Rusty.

I have ordered two Coils from Garrett for the Axiom both coils were delivered directly from Garrett and both came with no coil covers so both times i placed a call and told them I wanted those coil covers because it plainly states on their web site coil covers are included, couple days later I had my coil covers and was satisfied, emails get lost so a phone call is always best, to Garrett

I would ask to see the Serial numbers on them, and also ask to meet in person so you can look at them, there is a lot of scams going on these days, so do your due diligence, if they refuse to provide you with the serial number or UN willing to meet you so you can look at them, I would steer clear of them
