  1. Great finds and writeup Ringtail! I'm looking forward to testing out my M15 in the spring at the sites I've pounded with the CTX 17".
  2. I have used the CTX since 2012 and the 13x17 coil since 2014. In that time I've done multiple side by side comparisons on targets with other CTX users with the stock coil, and the 13x17 definitely gets a couple of extra inches in mild soils in parks. Many times the larger coil was the difference for me between getting skunked or a couple of silver coins! You do have to be careful to not injure your shoulder though lol.
  3. Bold move on the Ebay listing given that Ebay takes 13%.
  4. Very interesting discussion, I'm enjoying reading. For the comments regarding weight vs. performance (CTX vs. Manticore), 99% of the time I hunt parks in mild Midwestern US ground for 3-4 hour stretches. People around me hate the CTX because of the weight and they think it's old tech. But there is a layer of deep coins here reserved for the CTX and 17x13" coil combo that people can't seem to touch with the Equinox/Etrac/Deus. For this very specific application, the CTX seems to still be without a peer, and the weight is nothing compared to the difference in finds. I'll be interested to see how the Manticore stacks up.
  5. I read it as well. Was hoping for more information, but can see why they wouldn't say much in that particular report. Hope they announce/release a CTX upgrade soon! My CTX is almost 10.5 years old now and is getting a little creaky....
  6. Long time lurker, first time poster here! Question for those who have been to Nome - is this a trip that someone who has little (gold detecting) experience has a chance of finding gold on? I live in Ohio and will likely be buying a GPX 4500 soon for relic detecting purposes, but there's obviously very little gold potential around here so it may be hard to get a lot of experience. What do you guys think? Thank you, Drew
