Testing a broken gold bracelet of as much as 7 grams in the air, I noticed no greater depth, in fact, less signal strength (exactly what is expected of this program)...

Chains are a big part of my finds where I hunt. I would not be willing to do a program trade that has difficulty with chains.

😁 I'm pretty sure it doesn't but I'll give it another day, the puddle is definitely shrinking.. I'd be more worried if it was one of my main detectors, it's just annoying when a back-up fails..

But if it doesn't come good I'll definitely send it back, you're spot on: Minelab deserves to be punished for dodgy products..

WELCOME to the wet pod gang!!!

So you were paying about 1.5 times face value, not 40 times face value, and (if you believed them) you had chances to find a scarce date.  What are the chances of finding a scarce date if you bought thirty 1 lb bags (about $50 face) from Macy's, for nearly 2 grand?

    It's Macy's. What do you expect.............🤣

I got it out on the third scoop as I was developing a rythm with the waves and there it was, something shiny and round. I pulled it out of the scoop and could see a stamp. It was a 14K white gold ring!

I sense someone has been bitten by the beach bug. The only cure is more beach detecting!!!!  Nice find, congrats!

the next time I go to this lake trying the Nox instead of the Excal. Say, for example, that it took me 30 seconds to dig each pull-tab

30 seconds for each pull-tab. You are a ROCKSTAR!!!!   That 30 seconds might be a little conservative. [for me]

Since that hunt I tested the ring on my Equinox and its TID read around 20. Pull tabs usually come in around 13 so maybe I could have used the Nox and saved all that extra digging?

It is possible!!! The Equinox does a great job of isolating most Pulltabs to a number. My region it is 14. When I have pulltab conditions I skip 14's. Also if one was to look at many ring charts very few gold rings drop at 14 on the Equinox.  GREAT finds btw!

Why would deep ferrous targets double beep?  I thought that I almost understood double and triple beeping thanks to Carl's explanations,

I do not know why the Equinox is so good at this? It is not only nails, but round targets as well. Where I hunt there are coins with a ferrous and non-ferrous mix. I can identify them at fringe depths 95% of the time.

It is not only the double beep, but also the breakdown of response. It is a two-prong approach. For those fringe targets that do not double ring, they might have a serious breakdown of response in a 360 degree look. Non-ferrous targets will NOT have a breakdown of signal response on a 360 degree look.

The pinpoint button works - but for me it's difficult to reach it.. I really have to bend my thumb down or let the grip loose. It would be much easier, if they placed the RC 1/2-1" higher or more recessed. Having to press a different button to exit the pinpoint mode is odd, too.

I only beach and water hunt and never use the pinpoint button. Just a waste of time. With some practice of X-ing the target, recovery is easy on the discrimination mode.

So I’m going on the beach with my 600 and it goes crazy everywhere I go like every square inch is hitting something jumping from 7 to line 37 at all times…. What should I do? I factory reset it and also put it in beach mode 2.  Should I try and update it? I’m just confused as to what you do when this happens

If you have a coil cover on>>>>Take it off and clean it.  Don't ever put it back on.
