I must admit as much as I want the Manticore to shine I am very wary of it now after hearing from owners. The jumpy Tid's I know I would not like, falseing I think that's just a learning curve we have to go through, I've not read one user review on any site yet or watched any valid you tube video that makes me lust after getting one, I know its early days, I also think that once users get used to the tones the 2d TT will mostly be ignored in most instances. How do you now find the TT after having used it now for a while ? If I do upgrade from my 800 the 900 seems to get my interest. Do people think that Minelab will stabilise the jumpy Tid's with a future update ?
I look at the TT on every target...It takes no more time to do that then to look at the VID...I don't sit there and study it. I have lots of trash and I find it very helpful along with the way the target sounds to choose to not dig or dig. If you want solid numbers stick with the 800, Ctx or deus 2... All detectors will lie to you. The 800 is one of my favorite detectors. My M-Core will sometimes jump 3-4 digits on deep targets, shallow targets are mostly solid in 1-2 range. I was digging some very deep targets at the beaches that were solid ID 1-2 points. It really depends on the type of ground, the amount of EMI and target orientation. It's not like it's this way or that way. I pay very close attention any time numbers are solid with the manticore or any detector for that matter. For your last question...does anyone know what Minelab is going to do but Minelab? 🙂

When I watched his first video I was thinking this was his best act yet...it’s all an act even though he says he is looking for the truth that is one of his acts as well. Acting for viewers.... I mean no teacher is that ignorant to not do some basic research before slamming minelab like that and mocking the head engineer the way he did...I do give him an A+ for getting minelab to respond to some joe blow on the internet..I haven’t seen that before. And I’ll bet Lawrie is getting a good razzing from his fellow engineers at work about that lightning bolt super hero thingy lol.

I had a good feeling you would not like the jumpy ids on the M-core being used to the rock solid ids on the ctx....the new Nox is doing the same jumpy ids as well....doubting your unit is defective. I’ll try using beach mode next time out.

Can’t say that I have really...the 6000 was the closest I came to regretting purchasing but it’s problems seem to have been sorted out now and mine ran great on its last couple hunts. There are a few coils I don’t really use that I probably should sell...I have sold some detectors but just because they are just sitting not being used. What say you?

Chuck some of those backpacks they give away are worse then a cardboard box...the good backpacks you have to pay for. The cheap backpacks are just one more thing to fill up your garbage can. 🙂

Well when you accuse someone of Lieing it gets their attention pretty dang quick and that is what Meril did LOL
He was mocking the head engineer a lot in that video...

But he did and quickly...like in one day. Wonder what they told him then? 🙂

This is interesting because up to this point what I've heard is that the M-core handles EMI better than the Nox. Long press noise cancel and all that (I have some thoughts/Questions on M-core long press noise cancel and whether it is really doing anything really magic vs. just scanning the subset of "quietest" channels and picking one of those - based on my read of the user manual but will save that deep dive for a separate thread).
This is something that I have noticed in a couple areas where EMI was bad. The machine will run quieter but not detect better. Kind like it gets dummed down with the long press... other times (Most) the long press seems to really help the machine. I was going to start a thred about this but did not know how to title it. I think you are on to something here.
So far in most of the places I've used it I really like the machine. Salt water beach at the ocean it's a gem. Fresh water black sand beach full of bottle caps I need to test it more as I was digging more caps then I liked to. Parks round here it's a real treat as I dig no caps to speak of and it gets great depth and separation...cant wait for the small coil. Relic spots here in my lower bay area foot hills it's working good for me as well...I still have not had time to make a trip into the Sierra Nevada hills where the ground is much hotter. I couldn't care less about using it for tiny gold nugget hunting (have other machines that can do that) but I do want to use it to sniff out gold jewelry and I'm still on the fence about it for that...The machine is weighted for coin hunting... thats quickly apparent after several uses.

There's some good discussion here on GB Phase Number vs Mineralization.
Thanks Brad
Yea it's not s simple as just looking at the GB numbers...I wish I could get Goldbrick out of retirement he was my hunting buddy but now has other interests...he knew his deus as good or better then anyone.

That large cent is in great shape. Throw the ring in the tumbler for a couple hours and you may get a surprise. Nice hunt fellas.

It should be illegal that a company knowingly releases an unfinished product and says "Let us know if you find anything wrong with it" or "we should be able to repair it with a software update". I'm not talking about cellphones or computers where they are constantly under attack from hackers and security updates are expected and required. It's a damn metal detector. So I'll wait until you figure it out. And don't be ramming this 9 months of marketing promises down my throat either. Shame on you once ! I learned there won't be a second...
I hear you on this but it's it's impossible for any company to test their machines out extensively in all the different places in the world with different types of varying ground conditions etc.....therefore the need for an up date once in a while...but yea I'm kinda tired of hearing people say they need to do an up date to fix this.

Yep, none of them expect the winner was setup correctly LOL.
I thought you had them set up fairly...neither the Deus nor the Manticore were in their Pitch/Deep audio modes. I'll admit I'm a Minelab fan boy but I'll buy any detector that gives me an advantage...just plugged in my Deus 2 to the charger...took a few minutes to get it to connect properly 😁 Good videos keep em coming.

Are you still hearing significant Ground noise with a good Ground Balance?
The only thing that ground balances out tough soil is a PI.

I am still confused when hunting in all metal when the red line appears under the I.D.. I really worry about how correct the red line is because I get a lot of fluctuating between red line and no red line without iron any significant iron grunts. It's really pretty confusing. Maybe I'll figure it out eventually.
When hunting in all metal the red like and small grunting will occur in mineralized ground...don't confuse that with a ferrous object. So most likely you are hearing the ground. Over here in Calif when I'm hunting in all metal its constantly grunting due to the ground conditions...A ferrous object will be a larger/louder grunt.. no mistaking that.
Yesterday I dug a dime about 10 inches in depth and I was getting ferrous grunts and I said to myself lets see if this is a nail...the target was a perfect on the non ferrous line and read 89..nope it was a dime and I seen at least 2 nails come out of the hole while I was digging.
I don't usually pay that much attention to the shape of the target trace but thats just me...the oniy thing I do is quickly look at where the target trace is in relation to the center line. But maybe some of you guys that like to analyze stuff can teach me something about that later on when the machine has more time on it.

Nice work there Nox...I could tell by the photos right away that you were using the M-Core before I even read about your hunt. I've been using the M-Core exclusively except for a brief stint this morning at a nail infested hotel site. The M-Core is geared more toward coins then any other detector I've ever used. It bangs hard on all of them including nickels which I'm a bit surprised you did not bother with as they usually hit well in the 26-28 range where I hunt...I've been digging an averge of 12-15 per hunt in my clad infested parks...hoping for gold ring....that said gold rings I'm not so sure yet if it hits as well as the Nox but on coins it's a no brainer the M-Core is leaps and bounds above the Nox....there I said it 😜

Really nice find...notching to 50 is a good bet. I got a little gold ring (under 2 grams) with the deus 2 this summer that was a 48. I'll have to start using the Deus 2 in some parks it seems (if I can put down the Manticore) . Thanks for posting such a nice find...how much did it weigh?

I think this was the original iron falsing thread that came out due to his video. And it has kind of morphed in and out of taking jabs at several of the Youtubers that were booted from here for behavior issues..But the topic is a good one and I am now in a position where I can sit back and see what other guys are experiencing as only a couple of us had the the machine in the beginning. I received my machine about a week before calabash got his I was like wait a minute that’s not happening with me. But it’s probably best if this thred moved off into internet outer space at this point as it’s jumped back and forth so much moving from the topic to taking jabs...
