  1. What's everyone thoughts on Garrett nowadays..in my opinion they are falling behind the others these days I've been waiting to hear something from them for a new prospecting or even coin machine to compete with whites and minlab xp etc but nothing ... I mean the at series were great in there day but now things like the xp deus nox 800 macro all blow them away and the atx was good but lacked coil options and weighed more than a fat hippo .. . I personally liked garret the old infinium ls were ground peaking in there day fully water proof etc be ashame if they dont put something out soon .... If anyone knows any rumors etc feel free to comment below
  2. They are almost black ironstone some even ring up same as lead and gold here .I'm on the westcoast so most of my detecting is upper creek beds in the bedrock or where slips come down and you can detect and rake the layers down .its completely differnt to the open aussie or even some of the queenstown stuff unless your lucky enough to have q pole around on someone's big open cast claim .as for the hot rocks all depends on how many you come accross the pain in the but thing is normaly they are super heavey so they tend to fall where the gold does .. I found with the nox800 you could get a feel for target I'd and ignore them but you risk small or deep gold going missed ... on the plus side you can generally use them to locate pay streaks as you find where they drop out or are and the gold isnt far away I'll show a demo of thos in my video also
  3. That's my plan well that and mix of testing differnt size nuggets in the field and differnt depths also Here in nz our soil is low to mild so can normaly run the detecters close to max but I'll show canes differnt sensitivities on each so its apples to apples onething here tho is we get hot rocks that pulse inductions wont balance out they are a pain in the butt
  4. It cost me 1096 for the detecter with free 6 round and 159 for shipping .. and will be about 259 at customs
  5. Yea I found a guy via Ebay who was very good he bent over backwards to make it simple for me and leg me pick my shipping company ..I've brought via states before so have my import numbers already so pretty straight foward ..
  6. WATHCH THIS SPACE FOR SHOOT OUT BETWEEN MONSTER AND NOX AND 24K WITH NO BIAS So with my thoughts of going back to a gm1000 that I loved or try the new 24k that theres little reviews out there I took the risk I live in nz and brought out of the states was deal I couldnt pass up the 6 round came free if I brought the normal 6x10 model so worked out cheaper than export pack .whites ate also in the process of realeasimg the 4x6 coil for 24k .. should arrive around 17th may . My friend still has both his gm1000 and nox 800 so soon as it arrives and I get few hours under my belt with the 24k I'll get some videos up asap with direct tests on all three in ground on real targets how small all three go depth so finaly will be something out there to help people make a decision ... I'm hoping it can compete with the gm1000 or might be a cheap 24k for sale in nz ?
  7. Thanks for the info ... yes seen all the videos on YouTube unfortunitly jerry is not in favor with me I rang him from here in nz to basickly ask about the gmt and 24k as I wanted to buy a 24k from HIM and he basickly refused to give me any advice and said what do I get out of it if I help you out with info and I said well I play to buy one of the detectors from you and he said how does he know that and hung up on me so not great busniss but I am leaning towards trying out the 24k as I've just spoken to whites and they are about to realease the new 4x6 coil for it
  8. Also forgot to ask how you find the screen to use the new iron probability I'd accuracy etc? Even tho I never rely on those when nugget hunting the monster was easy to read any small small bits would jump between iron and gold on the bar in shallow ground you could almost always guarentee this was bit gold and anything bigger would hit mainly on gold side ..but reason I habent jumped in and orderd a 24k is just lack of videos and info out there apart from dealer one who let's face it would say there detecter can fly you to the moon to get sales
  9. Admin Note: split from existing thread here Hi mate just stumbled across this post I'm in the market for new vlf having had the monster1k gb2 nox800 here in nz the monster eats the gb2 for breakfast on depth size etc and I had to sell as got stuck with alot of Bill's and I've been tossing up between the older gmt and 24k or go back to a monster... what I didnt like about the monster was lack of functions even tho it does its job well I'm a seasoned user and like to tinker ... how do you find the 24k compared to the older gmt ... both in how small will either detect I'm guessing the 24k will or should pick up alot smaller gold ...and qill the 24 on right settings pick up same small stuff as the monster ? I was regurly finding almost sand size bits that wouldnt register on scale ..even tho thwy were pointless to find and sometimes anoying was nice to know I could find them ... any eedbal would be great ... Also do you know if the older goldmaster 4x6 coil is compatible with the 24k I'd love a small coil like that on one I loved the gb2 small coil for bedrock hunting over the small round
  10. Yea agree tbo the gpx will have it all over the tdi on depth just wish minelab had simalar abilities on there machines I love that the tdi can basickly discriminate like a vlf ... but here i mainly hint nuggets with a side of relic coin ?
  11. Hay guys I'm still deciding on what vlf to get again to go with my pis ..I've had monster 1000 (love it) found alot of small gold and stupidly small to the point it was almost anoying ... and had the nox 800 tho the nox was more of my all rounder its gold capabilities were on par with the monster and both out did my gold bug 2 on small gold by alot .. but my gold bug 2 ran smother on the ground than both the others ..so theres trade offs ... but heres my question what are the older gmts like I'm guessing simalar to the gb2 with not quite the sensitivity to super small stuff like modern vlfs ... but I like its features the ground scan trigger analyze etc ... now I know people will say what about the new 24k and it is on my list and I'm very tempted if anything just to put it head to head with my friends gm1000 and make a video for people but I'm weary because it's been out for 5 months now and not one video on you tube other than dealers or a couple coin hunting and that worrys me abit ... ... but I'm interested to hear people experianced with the gmt like depth on low to mild ground how small it will go etc and how smooth... I'll say one thing for whites they have good ideas I have the tdi sl pi machine and yes it lacks omph compared to my modded gpx4500 but the fact you can put it in low conductivity mode and use the pulse delay and ground balance to tune out nails nd trash etc and only pick up ya gold and lead or low conductors for a pi that's awsome and makes hunting trash areas doable with a pi
  12. The xp orx is another one I'd look at seems its beating the gm1000 and whites in aussie on small gold just not sure on coil size here in nz really hoping they bring out we 6.5 elliptical or something guess I will go with either the xp or whites but will let use know how they go and get up some side by side comparisons with the gm1000 and nox800
  13. Nice wish we had a cabelas here in nz .. another detecter I'm now throwing in the mix to look at is the xp orx it's been killing it in the aussie gold fields just waiting to see if they bring out a small coil for it
  14. Yea agree mabe they had to bump the price ve sause they wernt selling the amount they hoped by now so to make money had to increase price .. let's hope it's just a tempary increase defanitly seems odd as you say to increase a not well known or talked about machine . Well talked about by dealers but not that much marketing from general public
  15. Thanks steve yea I've owned the monster from day one being as experianced prospector the main thing I didnt like apart from coil knock noise was the monster just lacked features . I mean it got the job done that's for sure but I like to be able to have full control ove my machine but I'll defanitly look up other posts
  16. Hi yes the monster is awsome I had one from day one if release here in nz in low mineralized ground you can run them wide open but down side is the coils are very noisey to knocks at high levels but finds grains of sand gold basickly only downside apart from coil knock noise was lack of functions was great at the start very simple turn on and go ... it's why I'm leaning more towards the 24k this time around
  17. Hay guys so I live in nz and I sold my gm1000 and nox 800 to clear few bills etc great machines found alot small gold with both .. kept my gpx4500 but thinking of getting a whites 24k double coil pack to try out here in nz as my vlf but I am alittle worried as they have been out for few months now but I cant find one video on them on you tube apart from dealers ones or people with dealers . I would of thought by now someone would of did some testing or direct comparisons to gm1000 etc. Also as theres now no whites dealers in nz does anyone know a good one in aus that ships to nz ? I'm hoping with right set up they will be as good as monster on small gold in low to med ground but less prone to coil noise at high sensitivity and advice opinions welcome. Minelab Gold Monster 1000 and White's Goldmaster 24K gold nugget detectors
  18. Hi guys I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what ones best of these two coils I've herd alot of good things about the 12 round nugget finger coil but like the eleptical coils as can get them in places the round won't go and I know the 12x8 is fairly new .but thought I'd ask if anyone has any experiance with it compared to the 12 round ..on depth and sensitivity?
  19. Yea I did wonder... I have looked at the zed but like you mentioned most of the places I go the 14 is just to big . As for my settings they may differ being modded with latest mods but I run the front end gain ( mod) flat out run in normal or sharp stabilizer 10ish rx gain about 3 or 4 or to as high as it will let me with all the extra filters it just purs I never use enhance or sense special all the others affected my depth alot
  20. Haha aw that's gold guess I'm lucky I grew up exploring and climbing mountains so feel at home in middle of know where ... hay JW any chance I could email you I'd love to know more about that ridge track and best way to find it I'm sure I could part with some whiteibait or something for a little knowledge lol
  21. What yip sure is the one I grew up in southwestland and just from talking to the old people I the area I managed to find it out af yea agtee on the out g the way paces i do alot of adventuring into the unknown ..and yes from hokitika found alot of Gold around ross area but yet to make it down your way tho I have been into Moke once thanks to daniel when I'm out I normaly target bedrock and use both vlf nox800 or monster along with gpx to over it al
  22. Also jw do you have any recommendations on who to contact in oz for detecting I'd love to get over there spend a couple weeks chasing gold over there I have a brother who works in one of the big open cast mines in kalgoolie so somewhere around that area would be good but see you have been everywhere looking for gold so thought I'd throw the question out there :)
  23. Thanks JW yea I kinda figured all that but thought there mite be some hidden thing I've missed Haha I also have been to haast alot fishing and jetboating and also gold close by ship creek ? there is a few places between here and haast that hold gold but its alot of hard yards for sometimes nothing but I just enjoy getting out exploring if I find gold bonus ... I havent got up moonlight yet I've been looking on the maps trying to pick side creeks and other spots that could be good and had less people there just a case of seeing what's under claim so you dont tread on anyone's toes... I know the little grey and Redjacks both held nuggety gold along with Nelson creek think this summer I'll go explore up that way the modded gpx realy is a beast .with the rite coil I can hit gold as small as my sdc and at alot more depth ..how do you find the qed compared I was looking at getting a qed from stinky pete over in oz
  24. aw nice what part of nz you in im down the westcoast southisland .. .and yea i figured that was the case shame they never incorporated something like the tdi with a high low switch or idividual tone control just adds alot more to the detecter imo .tho i guess whites had it patented i normaly dig everything anyway but with the extra power with the mods i got sick of digging over a meter down for a old pick head lol and that was with a 8inch detech mono coil wasnt a fun day . im sure with it coming into summer and more time ill get better at telling the low high from high low
  25. hi guys i was just wondering if anyone out there knows if its possible to change the high and low tones individually on a gpx . i think i already know the answer as havnt managed to do this and ive used this machine for over a year and found lots gold along with my sdc and gold monster .but encase ive missed something i thought id ask and the reason for this question is as follows i recently brought a tdi sl just to have one and even tho it lacks the ooomph of my 4500 thats been modded . i absolutly love the difference between high and low tones or high and low conductors .the tones are so different were i still struggle to tell the difference between a high low or low high on the gpx without taking along a we lead sinker or small nugget to wave over the coil to compare as the sounds are so similar .. id love to be able to change the tone of just the high and then just the low so they are vastly different .so does anyone know if its possible to do this ? or tips to make it more notably different thanks Craig
