I think there is something new, but as of now seems like maybe just a teaser.  The YouTube video Rob(CA) linked on page 1 of this thread as of a few minutes ago had the following sub-title:

    Screenshotat2023-05-0812-31-20.thumb.png.e7e5f1f3d0a13db1b8a0a07e1e93b85a.png

So unless someone is spoofing, this was put out by Fisher.  It says '2 hours ago' so maybe updated since I watched it on Saturday.  Would be interesting if @Joe Beechnut OBN or others intimately knowledgeable with this detector can say if the one in the video is the original or has some changes.

Same detector. Although it says available with an 8” or 12 1/2” coil previously only the 12 1/2” was available.

There was a great thread about building headphone connectors for the D2 here but I can't find it. I did manage to save a graphic from that thread so this should help, but I don't know which connector is used for that.

This is my drawing except someone has added pin 6 as pos. 4 & 5 are pos. and neg. for bone phones square tone only. 1 & 2 are pos.and neg. for speaker phones square and PWM tones. I do not know what pin 6 does.

The shaft was the first modification I made, then the remote control attachment clip by doodads...But I still have problems with accidental release of the remote control from the handle.

The problem is that there is ordinary rough tape, which is supposed to restrain sliding, but it falls apart and gradually you can see the transparent part

The problem is your hand sliding up the shaft into the bottom of the RC. A generous wrap of vet wrap or bat wrap at the top of the handle will stop your hand from sliding up and provides a better grip. JMHO

Thanks for all the advice folks, my daughter has used a metal detector before but very briefly while growing up here in the Sierras. I had her try my ML 4500 on some areas I found gold and amazingly she found her own piece of gold. Prior to that she found another when she was like 12 years of age under some manzanita bushes. For 24 of her years she seen ole dad hit the hills every week and seen my finds. So I am not surprised but still surprised that she wanted her own , guess some things rub off the ole shoulders onto new youngster shoulders. It would be a weekend thing for them, and when she visits the hills from the big city. I am actually happy about it as perhaps they will visit more often and instead of solo hunts they would join me. They can also take it on their trips to the coast and play around with it. The Legend seems like the one we will pick. Kids these days are pretty tech savvy and I have no doubt they could figure out the machine pretty fast. They will be heading my way in April for a visit so it will give us a chance to try it out on some gold camps..perhaps they will be bitten by this sickness only time will tell, and besides if they dont catch the fever I can always use a new machine. 😄

As you probably know. A metal detector alone does little good. Many accessories will be needed depending on what she hunts. Good luck with your choice.

It is not my intention to be judgmental or condisending here because to each his own.But I have one question and that is why?

When I’m detecting I’m all about detecting !!! My friend Joe hunts with his eyes closed. That is my mind set. All about the detector. By the way he like me is primarily a water hunter. I have been diggin in the dirt though lately. Same applies. My ears are all about the machine. Good luck everybody!

  6. I run a modified beach program in my mild (88, 89) soil for buttons.

Disc. 7.0, notch 7=48. Sensitivity 99, reactivity 1, salt 9, iron volume 3, audio response 7, WSA ll XL phone volume down, audio out 7, pitch, square, silencer 0. I have a similar program in dive and beach sensitive but I prefer beach modified. For iron false I just pull the coil back off the target if it is not a clear signal and I hear the iron grunt a bit I pass it up. These seem to be the deepest programs with air tests of many different targets. 3 spins with my friend Max.

  7. I see Tennesseesharpshooter says he has a new WS6 testing changes in the software and Andy’s wife Charlene tells me Andy has the new beta version for testing so I would say we are very close now.

  8. I talked with Andy’s wife Charlene this week about a book I was supposed to get when I bought my Deus ll one year ago. She told me specifically that Andy was testing the newest beta version, now soon to be released. No date though. Then of course most have seen Calabash’s video that implies he may know something and would be releasing more info today or tomorrow on the Deus ll. Who knows when for sure, not me. Good luck everybody.

  9. Not very pretty but works. Rain, mud, dirt & dust. I ordered the covers for the WS6 only to figure out it will not fit inside the shaft mount for the WS6. Sooooo.... I bought the stretchy cups and after cutting out the clear plastic cover, with a small bead of silicon, secured it in the modded  cover. Not the prettiest thing but functional. You could just use the stretchy cup by itself once you know the programs you want to use although a bit hard to see. Maybe a better ( clear ) stretchy cup is available somewhere.

My worry is the absolute inability to keep the coil straight in active wave wash. And water forces creating twist/torque.

I use my deus ll in heavy violent at times surf with no problems so this should be no worse. It does appear not to be submersible though?, wireless phones blue tooth?, so maybe a wader only?

is also not a piece of cake for me when it comes to maintaining Deus 2.

I would say you have a faulty coil if you have had that many bad experiences. Call your dealer and send it back. I also think maybe you should not have sanded down the ridges on the skid plate as they hold the charging connector tight to its charging pins. At any rate I wish you well and no more charging issues. Again for me I don’t even look at the icons. I just always connect the charging cable supplied with the Deus and forget it. Normally a 4 or 5 hr spin on a full charge for the RC, coil & phones requires around 1 hour charge for all to be full. This is the charger I use.

I was saying instead of their "silly" antenna that people are running virtually right up to the control box anyway and doing all sorts of mods to make it suitable

Hi phrunt, again thanks for all your inputs as most are very informative. I just have to agree to disagree with you on the Deus ll. I’m not really sure what the ratio of water hunters as myself there is to dirt diggers but I would say it’s heavily stacked in favor of dirt. Therefore the silly antenna as you describe it only comes into play for a low percentage. I myself use the antenna in the Atlantic Ocean with zero issues so I am well pleased. For those who discuss the charging, for myself, most of my spins are in the five hour range. When I return home after cleaning, I just install the charging cable on the coil, RC and the WS6 and plug into my 8 bank charger with a visual screen that shows the charge rate. As each device reaches peak they shut down and when all are done the charger shows 0.00 output and I’m done. My WSA ll XL phones charge with their supplied cable. The charger shows what bank is finished or not. Piece of cake. On another note, my friend Denny, has had some medical issues and has been unable to detect since the end of August 2022. He leaves his detector in his unheated garage. Yesterday he looked at the charge icons for the coil and RC to see how depleted the coil was since it’s been in standby mode. Below is the picture he sent me after six months of idle use and zero charging . It surprised me. Good luck everybody.
