How did you get it open? Mine was not separating

I have repaired and or replaced a half dozen Souriau connectors where people did not know how to properly dismantle the connector. They all did the same thing. Twisted the wire at the pins and broke or shorted out the wire. You must leave the connector connected to the female (AQ). First remove the small end of connector ( counter clockwise ) which seals the connector with a rubber grommet. Slide both up the cable a bit. Then you can safely unscrew the second section safely ( again counter clockwise ) which exposes the wire and pins. Failing to loosen and remove the sealing grommet first will twist the cable at the pins and break or short out the wire. Then you can remove the connector from the machine.

  2. I have discussed this topic before. Eric installed 7 different coils he had available without any issues. If the resistance is 3 ohms or close it will work. There is nothing special about the stock AQ coil. The issue you will have more than likely is the coax cable. He did determine that a mini coax is needed to prevent detection by the coil. The Belden cable used is critical. The AQ cable is a mini dual cable but only one coax is used. Alexandre had another detector design he was working on “ bi polar “ hence the dual mini coax.

Yes, that’s right. Level 1 accepts ground level above the ground value grabbed. I’m not a veteran but I feel good with jitter and instability. In fact, the only thing I miss about D1 is its “chattering”. D2 is much more stable.

What if you have tracking enabled? Does it ramp up and down and follow the tracking ?

At 0.20 seconds of the video Gary says "Oh just one note. I'm not using the default Full Tones mode, Sensitive FT. I'm using some of my own tweaks on this one......." after which the video shows the screen clearly and at the top is 3.H2

At 72 I’m not as sharp as I once was. Thanks for pointing that out.

  5. I have spoken to Dimitar and he assures me he is hard at work on several different machines that will in compass some of the suggestions that people have voiced over the past two years along with new technologies he has engineered. He is listening to everyone’s suggestions. He does not want to discuss specifics as his larger competitors he feels have borrowed from the MDT salt balance technology which he was the first to have. That being said he did mention and give me the green light to mention the next “models” of MDT’s will offer multiple audio options to suit the individuals needs along with a host of other changes. HE WAS SPECIFIC THAT UPGRADES AND ALTERATIONS OF THE EXISTING MODEL ARE NOT AVAILABLE. He is fearful that he would be swamped with each and everyone’s particular needs or wants and he would have no time for engineering and building the new platform of detectors. They are coming, I just don’t know when. He will be in touch with us when things are ready. Good luck everybody.

The tarsacci was a good machine when I first got it hunting the sandy river but not as good at parks.  For the next 2 years I didn’t do well with it.  I picked up the D2 in March 2022 and the tarsacci found its way to the closet.
One thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was I originally bought the tarsacci from Tom Dankowski in Florida to save on taxes here in California  that upsetted  Dimitar because I didn’t buy from a trans-bay detectors in California. When I received my credit card statement it said Trans-bay detectors. I DIDN’T give authorization to do so. I would never buy from Dimitar again.

When Dimitar releases his next detector I hope he does more testing before he releases it.
He also needs to chime in when there is a question. Don’t expect others to answer for you.

I personally have no negative comments about Dimitar. Only one about his machine. The audio which is similar to others from Germany & France I think. I can tell you for sure, that he speaks English comfortably but has a very hard time writing in English and prefers not to do so. If you call him he will answer and talk and share with you. He has the very best by far customer service of anyone I have dealt with in forty years detecting. I have not talked to him in several years now so I will give it a try and see if he can give me an update.

  7. I see now you use the locking mechanism which will more than likely prevent part of my mod. It has been my finding, that people’s hand slide up the handle while detecting into the bottom of the RC. This causes the RC to come loose. I wish we could have talked before you started and maybe a new handle could have been formed. I wrapped vet wrap around my handle heavily around the top and then tapered down the handle.  It has worked for me. If you remember we talked about me testing others shafts and I’m the one who talked to Alexandre about your shaft locks. I doubt you will have any trouble selling boat loads of your shafts. Looks like a nice set up.

  8. Start by taping the co ax to the end of a 1/4” dowel leaving about 12” of straight co ax. Then wind the co ax tightly around dowel until about 12” from the end and tape in place. The co ax is stiff so it takes a little effort and you need to have the tape already cut and ready to apply. Then carefully heat the cable with a heat gun ( PVC or Wagner paint stripper or hair dryer on hottest setting ). Once good and hot from end to end, place in the fridge for 10 min. Repeat this process 2 more times.

The trick on the mount, is to remove the two screws holding the mount to the shaft and remove mount. Then disassemble the mount face from the body by depressing the tabs on the side. There is just enough space to drill the hole for the grommet and cable. Now you can run the cable out the shaft into the mount and out, make a loop and then you can push the co ax thru the hole in the mount. Next slide the grommet over the co ax and insert in hole. Then holding the grommet in place, pull the loop out of the co ax. Reassemble the mount and install on shaft. Takes some work but make a clean mod.

    Joe,

Are the numbers in red actual delay “values”.

I have to admit that the delay range on the AQ is bewildering. How could a designer/engineer have a full control rotation only providing such a short range. Having 0.5 increments is pointless…..I’d be surprised if a user would be able to hear much of a difference in the “green” range……just as you suggested. This AQ has me scratching my head on a regular basis 🤯

The picture that Joe shows is a proposed change in delays for the newer ( not released ) unlimited addition with several other changes such as drop in batteries. I do not believe that machine will ever be released. The AQ limited out in the wild now has the following delays. (7) (7.5) (8) (8.5) (9) (9.5) (10) (10.5) (11) (15). The (15) delay was a last minute change after all the face plates had been printed and is shown as (11.5) on the face plate but is actually (15).

  10. My Tarsacci has gone to my metal detector graveyard along with 17 other machines since my AQ and Deus ll provide all the help I need. I had a power on issue with the Tarsacci after owning about a year and a half, so I sent it to Dimitar. Well, the USPS all but crushed it so Dimitar replaced the screen and key pad for free !!! Who does that ? I also had placed a thin piece of plastic over the speaker grill as I had “Equinox fears” lol. Dimitar took it upon himself to remove the speaker and seal up that area. I’m not sure if that will help the resale or not. Anyway, the tones for me are terrible. Very faint and hard to hear for a deaf old man. It is deep though, very deep. It once was my go to beach machine and did put lots of gold in my pouch, but the tones are just terrible. Arron had a special made tone Tarsacci that was the bomb, so I asked Dimitar could he do that to my machine? No was his reply so it and all my other past machines sleep in one of my spare rooms. I never could get the hang of that trade up concept haha. Good luck everybody.

  11. Thank goodness you finally got out with the AQ. Tone mode is 98 percent of my usage. Those 18k pigs will give a iron grunt, but the majority of them are deep in the wash on the rim so there I always dig the grunt. 75 percent of my rings come from lower to mid beach. I skip all the iron grunts there as it is mostly clad and or tent stakes and the likes. Time is of the essence in fresh drop season so I have little time for tent stakes. I pass up all pings off the edges also and pay attention to shape. If upper mid beach and lower gives a solid ping in tone mode, you can almost bet its gold. Good luck everybody!

  12. Ruslan is busy fighting a war at the moment but I own 3 of his well made Stavr scoops and a 4 th hybrid he made special for me. You can’t go wrong with any of his scoops.
I guess the most rugged scoop I own is a Stealth 720i produced by Sunspot out of California now since the original owner sold the business. This scoop will dig any strata you encounter. As mentioned above a Carbon Fiber handle is the way to go no matter what scoop you purchase.

  13. I’m fairly happy with the current update.

    2=silver quarters, slug unknown caliber, round cuff button, 5= clad quarters,1= buffalo, 1= merc, 1= 925 Thailand, 1= Indian, 2= wheat,4= memorial.

Silver Slayer fast and Silver Slayer deep HC. SS fast ran quite at 99 sens. Deep HC chatty at 93 sens. Both 2 reactivity. 13 x 11 coil.
