Steve ; I agree. If I absolutely had to find a PIECE of gold in a short period of time I would grab my GB2. Wouldn't even think about it..

I started detecting seriously for nuggets  in 1983 with a Garret Groundhog and found quite a bit  then switched to the original Gold Bug when it came out and my nugget finds went way up. Moved up to the 2100 and continued to find nuggets, BUT I think I have found more wt . over the years with the GB & GB2 than with the M.L.s, not because the GB is better, but because there was a lot more gold to find back then and a lot of shallow gold.  Wish that I would have kept a record of my finds with the various detectors.

The salt and vinegar mixture works extra well if some small gold flakes are added to the solution, enough to polish the specimen. I use it to shine up dull nuggets.  About 1/4 oz of small gold for a 1 dwt up to 1oz. nugget or so. It also shines up the flakes.

Can you attach the blue handle in a way that it would work automatic with the rocking?

I have had some success using ammonia, it will also kill HF acid

A year ago last summer I was detecting a 1900 ish town dump and found a 7 dwt gold nugget, what a surprise, didn't expect to find a nugget there.

Since it was found near the Red  Cloud mine it probably contains some silver.  I believe that was a silver mine. I detected a large piece of galena yesterday in the Plomosa district east of Quartzite,  theres a lot of it out there and it sounds off good on a VLF,   but I don't think it contains silver, mostly lead, It sure loads up a sluice box.

Its ok ,a VLF and a PI can't mate, if they could maybe we could get a hybred.
