  1. Thank you all for the added info in this thread. Information is power. For my urban coin/jewelry hunting locations, this setup so far works perfectly for me. I don’t deal with littered iron, so it’s a non issue. As far a recovery speed, I really don’t feel the need for anything faster. All targets are very close together. I had zero issues picking out a good tone. I guess someone could use another machine right beside me to show me that it did better in some way. I don’t see the need for that. In that time I could have dug up 15-20 targets lol. Someone told me about a year or so back to stop analyzing every little detail about what does what and just have fun and dig. This setup for me just feels right, and fun.
  2. Thanks Jeff! This is my first hunt with multi frequency. Really impressed so far. Also have never been a big fan of DD coils. Maybe because I have used concentric for so long. This small coil however checks all the boxes for me at my hunting areas. I still have a Simplex to play with this season too. I will still take my other machines out, but I see myself selling off a few lol.
  3. I send them directly to Zippo in Pennsylvania. You only pay for the shipping to them. They repair it for you for free. They consider it a privilege to do it for you. They put new guts inside, and repair the case and hinge if possible.
  4. I had my first real hunt for the season today. I still have frozen ground 2” down in some of my spots. The small public boat landing in my town has a grass “infield” area. I first hunted it last season. Several quick 30 minute hunts. Very full of trash! Lots of people like to park and look across at the town. Also great view of the fireworks when the Bay festival shoots them off every year. I don’t know how I missed so many coins. I still have only concentrated on the fringe areas beside the pavement. I literally hit the same spots as last fall. Probably a dozen coins in 20 minutes. Very easy to pinpoint with the small coil. Targets were a solid lock on everything I dug. The few pieces of canslaw I dug were solid at 17. I got a 17-18 number very shallow. Of course I needed to get the trash out, so I dug it up. Very damaged zippo lighter. My second ever. It will get sent in to be repaired. I am not sure I will use my other machines this season. This thing is very fun and light. Very much worth the under 200 I spent on it. btw, I didn’t plan on my gloves matching the machine....just a happy coincidence.
  5. Great story! I also enjoy my outings with one of my 3 Tracker IV units. I have a different coil mounted to each one. They keep the “fun” in my detecting. It was my first machine almost 20 years ago, and never fails me. It is what I grab for shallow jewelry hunting at the soccer fields. None of my 19 other machines can do things exactly like it.
  6. I too am looking for an extra lower rod. They can be purchased over seas, but shipping cost more than the product. Luckily having the 340 and 540 pro pack gets me all 3 coils.
  7. I have always been intrigued by the machine. I may get one someday.
  8. That’s decent prices for the coils. If I broke down the prices in the 540 pro pack, that makes the machine about 120.00 dollars including a decent pair of wireless headphones.
  9. Air metal detectors are doing the cell phone thing. Their point is that the cell processor is plenty smart and fast enough for a detector. I hope they get released soon.
  10. I was Black Friday shopping early this morning. First and last time doing that. i went into Dicks sporting goods, don’t hate me, just to look at detectors. They had the vanquish in stock. I got to take one out of the box and hold one. This is in Maine, so if there are any of their sister stores near your location (Field & Stream) you should check.
