  1. Been almost a week since I've been out, lots has happen but things are settling back down so I got 3 hours out today. Been watching the winds and tides and I felt safer grabbing the excalibur. Once there I seen I could have taken the AQ..water was very nice...North winds of 10 mph blew the water out so I was drinking the old bay waters today....Seems like all I was getting was silver coins and nickels until I moved in a little closer to shore..then once I got away from the hard bottom out came the 1968 Class ring. The two white gold rings are from last Saturday's hunt at this same beach......This spot seems the coins are out deeper on the hard pan, and the rings are in right as the slope starts with the sand. There use to be crab pot buoys that helped me navigate this spot but they messed me up and pulled them early this year... The bracelet top is 1/20GP had me going until I got home and seen the edge was black with small bubbles
  2. Yesterday I took both the excalibur and the AQ hoping to use the AQ..but water was too rough so the excalibur got the call. I drank a lot of water yesterday...but it was worth getting out and enjoying the finally Sunny day. Best was a 1955 10k class ring and A couple silvers...Class ring still had the bandaid used to make it a fit her....Thanks for looking and Good Luck to everyone.. Walker was the last target of the day..jumped out of the scoop almost! Once in the day there use to be a forum who had ring daddies..You would post your rings up to be counted during the year. And by end of year there some amazing ring counts from many across the world. Most were North America with a few from the islands. I guess I'll be calling the rings I find ring daddies for years to come... it keep me organized, pictures, video's . charts and memories.
  3. One 18k Art Deco ring...1930's, Diamonds and looks like it had blue stones that filled in the gaps.. one remains. 😢 Five Silvers, and a few other time period pieces...Almost 4 hours out..Jelly fish are gone.. were hundreds, ........seen 3.. Recon ..with Excalibur Report to myself.... 500 foot long area, Chest to shoulder deep ..parallel to shore..Markers 5 to the east..Marker 1 west....Markers are crab pot buoy's Sand moved in...more to the east, with some iron mixed, plenty of good targets between 1 and 3 markers, fades out 4 n 5.....area I was going to check with the "AQ" has now moved, covered by sand. . Coins seem to be further out between 1 n 3, One concentrated area of iron possible crab trap pieces (marker 2) Future..........AQ hunt area ........markers 1 to 2..and slope for deep gold in chest deep....from Markers 1 to 3. Gold ring found between Marker 2 and 3 bottom of slope...I feel sand on the slope holds gold for the pattern of this area most gold is found in the deep sand slope.......coins in the flat........... (Most of the bad targets are marked, holes dug and not filled on bad targets) Good for about two weeks, July 20th...... I can tell when I start to dig these targets for the consistency of the sand is different, softer. Be back to this beach when the water levels drop, things don't change much there unless major winds. Headed to another spot Saturday to get a damage report.
  4. Had some great winds, zero, .......smooth water, .........and fairly good tide. In the water about 3 hours, could not had been better. Other then the boats and jetski's , seemed everyone want to cruise close to shore, three times I had to flag them past. Two gold rings, 8 silver Washington's...
  5. Been a week or more since I've been out. Had family in town then the tides have been insanely high with the Storm Faye coming up the coast...But watching conditions get a little better Monday then Tuesday I could not set another day out. Four hours today............ two gold rings, both came in the third hour after working another area I felt was better...but only held silver. Excalibur got the call today for the "live buoy's system" web site was down.....been nice to have had the "AQ" for going into the third hour the water was like glass!
  6. Went back to the spot I hit the 2 gold from Weds...Again did not find gold til later in the hunt, this time it was a good deep one which I am sure the "AQ" would have got very easy. The target was a Null with the Excalibur when I dug the first two scoops, but then as I got closer with the coil the target started to sound good and like a sinker. Once out of the maybe 14 to 15 inch hole it was a nice surprises to see a Big Yellow. Also got in a few more rough looking silvers... Fall hits and the "AQ" is going to be all over this place...Right now ..water is just to deep for me to be getting signals I can't dig...I was chin deep when I dug this gold...Come on Fall! And sorry video is short, to much back ground showing. Best to keep these spots hidden from watching eyes...... No name on the Military ring.......5th INF. DIV. Red Devils...My guess would be WWII or Korea era ...My first 8k gold ring...Gold333 And Jelly fish are out here...No problem for I am fully covered, but I did see a few people swimming....
  7. Seen a opening to get out today but just not the right spot for the "AQ' yet. Come winter I see the "AQ" getting a real good work out here. Today I took the excalibur for I was not sure what conditions I would be walking into. Working in close first nothing..... but Iron and trash..dug a few pieces and decided to go deep, still not a lot of targets. Slowly working my way deeper and parallel to the beach about 600 foot out...shoulder deep I got a couple nickels kind of shallow (2 scoops) then slowed to the snail's pace...Got another signal, broken but being I just got two nickels I'm going to dig all...3 scoops, maybe 12 inch's deep ..surprise...Gold.
  8. Been staying Home due to the Convid19 virus but seen a small window to get out yesterday. Got my much needed exercise at a private beach. Water was calm and beautiful with plenty of targets. Being my first trip out since March the 15th I could see changes, good and bad in the bottom. Since the winds and water were calm I went for the faintest targets in all metal with the excalibur. Slowly working a area about 800 feet off shore. Two 10k gold rings, and a few crusty silvers. First was a class ring I believe to be from the early 1900's, no markings which would place it before 1906. The second a men's 11 gram semi honker. Diamond tested real, which does very little for the value since it's less then a 1/2 carat. If I can slip out once a week and not see a soul I'll be very Happy... Stay safe and Healthy......joe
  9. Out for 5 hours, 6 gold rings, 7 silvers. Was tracking a storm crossing the midwest late last week and into the weekend. Luckily it was just the right winds and I was able to catch one very good lowtide. Most of the Gold was stained bad , been under many years. One very interesting gold is the band..OB three crowns then 14k, a rare early years Ostby Barton. The real question for me this hunt is I found a very small gold ring, I think it was gold, Some how and some where she is still in the Bay I believe. Think it got stuck to my glove as I was putting it in my pouch, Got it on video..just not the full shot of it going into my pouch. Had this happen before, should have been more careful. Lesson learned.. Over all had a great time, got workout and found treasures. The Excalibur is doing it's job and hopefully by summer we will see the "AQ" as my clean up machine.
  10. Amazing what a week of the wrong direction winds can do. Keeping tides very high and pushing sand in...Not Good. But luck was with me the last two hunts and I was able to get into a small section out in the middle of no where and dig some treasures. Four Gold rings and eight silvers.
  11. I have been trying to contact Detectorrepair for information on the GG Amphibian headphones.....trying to find out if the ones they sell for the Excalibur are the version II’s. The stock photo shows the originals with the volume control. I am after the version II. I have tried emailing from Australia several times with no response. The company is https://detectorrepair.com If anyone could contact them on my behalf that would be very helpful. i want to order the GG Amphibians II.....comes with the potted plug. Thanks, Tony
  12. Hello all Has anyone come up with a decent design for a coil/loop stabilizer bracket for the Excalibur coil? Because the coil ears are flush with the side of the coil, the standard design doesn’t work (typical Whites style of loop stabilizer) Love the detector but the thin loop bolt provides very little tightness and I’m not going to ruin my coil but over tightening which is futile anyway. Can’t find much on the net which is surprising for such a popular machine. Thanks in advance for any ideas or pictures (even better). Tony
  13. On Friday had about an hour and a 1/2 to kill between calls. The heat has been unbearable so I went to a local swimming hole And using my Excalibur with 8" coil had one of my best and shortest hunts ever. The bracelet and ring are 14K the little ring with this pink stone is silver the men's wedding band is junk.. Strick
  14. Hey all, I’ve recently picked up and old blue Excalibur 1000 from eBay that I plan to dive with. My only problem is the headphones aren’t the “blowing my ears off” kind of loud. It’s got the original blue headphones on it and I was wondering since I know the Excalibur 2 is incredibly loud it it just how the blue headphones are or if it’s not working 100%, They are easily audible out of water though. Thank you!
  15. Just got home from my annual trip to Hawaii. Thought Id post my detecting adventure for you guy's. With all the hoopla on the new Minelab Equinox that are coming out...........well my old Excalibur is feeling a bit long in the tooth, as it goes. I'd like to pony up for a Equinox but the reality is I only get to detect at the beach two weeks a year and other than a rare park hunt most of the time is running a dredge. The obvious solution was to mod my Excal. Other than a Pluggers dive shaft that I added last year it's stock. Last year I had made up my mind to replace the headphones, FYI the stock yellow Koss phones suck! I was able to get a Pin Point kit with headphone jack to fit Grey Ghost phones. I purchased it from Joe Priest, AKA - OBN (oldbeechnut) If your ever in need that is a stand up guy! After a bit of surgery I ended up with a pretty impressive setup. IMHO. Both the headphones and the remote PP switch are excellent adds. Cost me about 300.00 and it's money well spent! Excalibur before adding mods. Excalibur with PP kit and new headphones. I was able to get out detecting eight days for about three hours each day and spent about half that time in the surf and the rest watching the girls on the beach. So I feel pretty good with what I got in the time invested, actually it was a good run for my talent on a detector. Ended up with pretty minimal trash using the Pin Point feature, 93 lead weights. (surf) 1-14 KTGF chain. (beach) ^ 2 - 925 silver rings. (surf) 2 - 14 KT gold men's rings. (surf) A pile of change. (mostly beach) And a 10 Ruble coin, had to google that to figure out what it was. LOL. And some really pretty sunsets! HH.
