Advice On Garrett Z-Lynk Enabled Pro-Pointer AT Pinpointer

Recommended Posts

I have the zlink receiver and ms3 headphones . I know the at pinpointer would connect to this, but will it cause interface with an f75 detector? I wouldn't think so, but thought I'd ask before I spend the money.

I think the proprietary Z-Lynk system frequency (2.4 GHz) should be safely far enough away from, and low powered enough, to not interfere with the single operating frequency of the f75 (13kHz). The Z-Lynk Pro-Pointer AT works directly with the MS-3 headphones and the WT-1 will transmit your f75 audio output to the MS-3. Let me know how you make out.

I come from the days of heavy coil-cord wired CalRad (even older phones before that) and no handheld pinpointing. When Garrett introduced the small comfortable MS-3 wireless headphones and wireless handheld pinpointing, I was in complete heaven and my recovery efficiency (land and stream) doubled.

One Winter/Spring not too long ago, I remember getting a good signal with my Apex over a thin flat rock in the middle of a cold mountain stream. I didn't want to take much time in icy water fanning and pinpointing with bare hands and a detector coil, so I used my Pro-Pointer AT outstretched with one hand. Still got the great signal and one wet hand/sleeve, but the signal was quickly located.... An early Large Cent. It was almost as if someone from the cellar hole nearby put the coin under the rock for good luck. Maybe they were hoping the stream would never dry up, it was their source of drinking water. I'll never know, but using the Pro-Pointer sure made things less troublesome! I never leave home without it

In general you don’t have to worry about such things with single frequency metal detectors. The F75 has enough frequency offset to compensate, and the Z-Lynk system itself automatically frequency hops to find the quietest one. Between the two you should be fine.
