NikNZ Posted May 7 Share Posted May 7 Hello, i am by no means a geologist but i am trying to learn about different minerals and compositions of rocks. There is an area i am working in New Zealand at the top of a hill where i am finding a lot of Brown (Iron?) coloured rocks and inside is a really dark grey/blue with shiny particles. Kodiak Posted May 7 Share Posted May 7 Im in Alaska and no geologist either, but it looks like similar rocks Ive found usually in encased in a conglomerate or concreation. Kodiak Posted May 9 Share Posted May 9 Hi NikNZ, I think I misspelled it, heres the start of the Wikipidia page for the word Concretion. "A concretion is a hard, compact mass formed by the precipitation of mineral cement within the spaces between particles, and is found in sedimentary rock or soil."
