  1. Thanks o.g. Yeah, I'm not sure that it's ever happened before but certainly not when targets were so scarce.
  2. Nice clad count - more than I have found on my last 3 or 4 hunts combined! However, things should improve here next week when hurricane Hillary sends some swells our way.
  3. Thanks Jim, Even though the bracelet is inexpensive it is in great shape so someone will be able to use it again.
  4. Thanks VL, I'm sure that these targets were all very recent drops and were shallow.
  5. Thanks 350, I didn't know it had a name but you are right!
  6. The ring has no markings and looks plated. The bracelet actually is pretty nice for costume jewelry and the clasp works very well. Not sure how it opened up for it to fall off. I spent a few minutes looking for the chain that the pendant was on. The chain had to have opened or broke since the pendant hoop ring is intact.
  7. Now that is a great hunt - congrats!!
  8. This time a bracelet. Having found a real one before (nearby) I have to say that this one looked pretty promising in the morning darkness. I'm pretty sure that it is the one from Walmart for $12. ๐Ÿ˜„ At least the silver pendant saved the hunt!
  9. I good friend of mine is new to detecting and I kind of steered him towards the 900 because of its versatility. However, I did not think it was the best beach machine for our area and I am a pulse user most of the time. I must say that I've been surprised at how well he is doing with the 900 in the wet sand and shallow water. On one recent hunt he called me over to check a signal and it was a very faint tone with my TDI BeachHunter which turned out to be a coin between 2-3 scoops deep. Even in the black sand he seems to be able to pick out targets although the target ID numbers are not accurate for deeper targets. Personally, I am not a fan of the way the detector sounds although I know that the audio can be programmed for different tones. However, his results speak for themselves. Yesterday, he forgot to bring his headphones and just used the built-in speaker which I thought would be difficult with all the wave noise. That didn't stop him from pulling out a sweet, 8 gram, 18K, white gold comfort band from the surf!
  10. Congrats on breaking out of that gold slump and in less than ideal conditions. That sure is an unusual and cool looking ring - maybe that is why it is priced so high on Ebay.
  11. Wow...you guys have a good track record and I think I would call you if I lost my ring. ๐Ÿ˜„
  12. Thanks Jerry, The chain came out just as you see it. The ring was a recent drop as well but I did polish out the numerous scratches. I went out again yesterday and it was my worst hunt in a long time. Looking forward to some hurricane season swells.
  13. Awesome job Sir! Sounds like a daunting task hunting for a lost ring in a pretty big grassy area. I think it was meant to be.
  14. Okay, So yesterday I found this earring that looked like it could be gold but was stamped 925. Some spots are worn and it looks plated with something, if not gold.
  15. Thanks CPT_GhostLight, It was a fun hunt. The beach my friend and I stumbled upon didn't look promising to the eye but as soon as we turned on our detectors we started getting good targets. This chain was one of seven that we found on the day - very unusual.
  16. Thanks SchoolofhardNox, I've added a couple of close ups of the markings. I didn't read the markings until I was back in my car so, at least, I got to carry it in my pouch for a couple of hours thinking that I had found gold.
  17. on a recent hunt. However, both are stamped ".925"! That is what I expected on the ring but I was sure that the chain was going to be 14k. It is well made with a soldered ring on the clasp and is also stamped "Italy". At 10 grams 14k would have been about $350 in melt . Oh well, at least the Tiffany ring is real. ๐Ÿ˜„
  18. "You're a good man, Charlie Brown"! Right back at you Joe! I appreciate your response and I am proud to be among those who have been able to return lost valuables. As you know, it isn't always so easy as most jewelry is not personalized. We've been given a great gift to be able to reunite people with cherished things that they never expected to see again. Some returns seem almost miraculous and it is pretty cool to be part of the story.
  19. I found both halves of a Cartier bracelet in 2020 (my avatar picture). I hope that yours is real because there are a lot of fakes out there. Have you tested it to see if it is 18K gold? Kudos to you for wanting to return it but it may not be easy even with a serial number. I contacted Cartier about mine and they didn't seem interested in trying to help me locate the owner. You are right about these things coming apart too easily being that they are so pricey. I have met other hunters who have found at least one half of a "Love" bracelet. As you can see in my attached picture an authentic Cartier bracelet should be in the neighborhood of 30 grams depending on the size.
  20. You think it looks scary now but you should have seen it when I had treble hooks hanging off those little holes on the back of the rake! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜…
  21. Yes, the flooded Nox was a big disappointment. Minelab Repair responded quickly but said that they are awaiting a shipment of new control boxes. I am past warranty so I don't have a great feeling about the cost to replace the box but we will see.
