You know I see where you fellows in the UK find the buttons on videos and a lot of times there just seems to be disappointment in their reaction when they pull them out of the dirt. Where as over here in the states we are elated to pull up buttons of all forms. And that nasty green fertilzer sounds terrible. I wonder how many of your fellow detectorist have been pricked by those nasty and dirty needles from medical waste?? Sounds like a scam that got pulled over your fellow farmers over there. What the heck ever happened to just burning that nasty stuff anyways???? I do not get it!!!

and your in south FL!! My wife is from Miami and we met here in TN. I kind of want to go there myself and check it out. Have always wanted to look on the beaches. That is something I have never done. Have you been to any of the civil war places here in TN? If your interested next time your here in middle TN around the Nashville and Franklin area I highly recommend checking out the Carter House, Carnton plantation and Rippavilla. I believe you would like them if your into the civil war relics and history.

Well most of you probably already know way more than I do when it comes to detecting. Your right we all lose someone who is special in our lives from time to time. It is tough too. But we have to continue on and hope one day I will meet them again way up in the beyond. I feel that way anyhow. Thanks for the warm welcome as well!!

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome from each and every one of you!! Well as far as background goes and my interest in detecting here it goes. I live in middle TN about 40 miles west of Nashville called Dickson. Been here 24 years now. Grew up in Texas outside of Houston. I like to coin shoot and relic hunt. My older brother got a metal detector for the first time in 1982. I was 9 years old. It was just a radio shack bounty hunter one. I think it was called the prospector. He being the older brother made me dig for him!!! Imagine that but it was fun and I really enjoyed doing it. He has now passed away but he was a big influence on the hobby itself. I miss him very much. So that is how I cut my teeth with detecting. I have owned a ton of units and also was a multiline dealer for a couple of years with my own brick and mortar store here in TN called Henderson's metal detectors and more. Sadly I could not keep up with the online sales and sold all of my stock and building as well. I could have stuck it out but it was tough and decided to close instead. I actually got burned out on it for about a year. Having my store front and no time I did not get to detect for myself. A couple of friends kicked me in my butt and got my head right again on the hobby and have been happy again to say the least. I enjoy history and actually find metal detectors very neat contraptions if you will. I have owned personally had several machines through the years from all of the major brands and like all of you, I liked some better than others. Now I am really into the XP Deus and ORX units. Your thread here on this forum is why I signed up here. As far as sharing knowledge on the detecting hobby, I have actually made a video on the ORX and bottle caps and posted the link here in the XP thread if any of you care to take a look. I guess before that my favorite units varied through technology and name brands. I know most of you also remember that there was a large leap in technology with detectors in the late 1980's and early 90's. I have owned several Tesoro's, Whites MXT, Fisher F-75, Some Teknetics like the Omega, T2 and the Eurotek Pro, Minelab Xterra's, Garrett CDC 3 Coin commander, Fisher 1260 and 1225 and some of the Nokta and Makro units. Anyways, just a little brief history of my experience with metal detectors. I also am a musician and play guitar too. When I get time I will update the avatar and such. Nice meeting you all here and seems like a real nice bunch to be around too!!

Hey guys. I guess there a ton of you who gold prospect here on this forum. But for those who coin shoot in parks and around old houses I made a video yesterday on how to deal with steel bottle caps with the ORX. I am using the HF coil. But you can get similar results with the X35 and your highest frequency offset. Anyways here it is and I hope some one can get something out of it.

I am late to the game but I will add my own 2 cents anyways. I did not really see a buy the Deus instead of the ORX topic in these videos. I think he should have titled the video Deus or ORX. I did learn something by watching it though. The ORX has the ability to change languages as well. Also as some have mentioned on the ORX has a better gold ability. It was really designed for that reason and XP put in a couple of extra modes for us coin shooters and relic hunters. I have both and like both for different reasons. I like to tinker with settings on the Deus and I also like the ability to grab and go for the ORX. Gary has also released a video on getting a new unit and is praising the ORX very much in it. Now I know there are a tone of cheaper units that can be had for less money even for half the cost of the ORX, but what I know now about modern metal detectors I would choose an ORX over any of the other ones.
