  1. …although Valens Legacy, your jerky recipe sounds delicious! I’d love to try some sometime. 👍
  2. You’re on a Garrett thread here, so no fear of being the butt of any jokes. It’d be great to hear more details of your finds and your experience with the Axiom so far. 😀
  3. I definitely don’t have the best detectors (my main swinger starts with the letter Q), but I’m finding enough gold to keep me interested in heading out into the bush a couple of times a week, which is an experience I absolutely love! I have to work more than twice as hard to find gold as my buddy with his 6000, but it makes the small victories more than twice as sweet.
  4. This is a great idea Purplehays69! It would definitely save scratching the top of the control housing and give some stability when the machine is upside down. I'm not running an Axiom yet (I'm saving up for one - it's my next detector), but I'd be happy to model the idea up and 3D print it if someone sends through some dimensions of the control housing. I can model it from a straight on photo (as dead-on as possible with as long a focal length as possible on your phone/camera to flatten the perspective as much as possible) plus a side view with some basic dimensions. It'll be a quick and dirty model, but I'd be happy to send a prototype to someone to test if anyone thinks it's worthwhile.
  5. It’s a good opportunity for an aftermarket 5 to 4 pin adapter lead.
  6. Would the patent still be current? Fingers crossed Garrett dusts it off and gives it some development time. It could turn into the next big thing.
  7. I primarily use a PI machine in the areas I detect in, but I like to have the option of using a VLF to check for smaller gold in the spots where I find nuggets. (In mild ground my old GMT still pings smaller gold than my prospecting buddy with his 6000, so there’s still a good reason to carry one around.) At the moment though, the only option for me is to carry two machines, which isn’t really viable when hiking long distances. Two of the biggest problems I face is that current shafts don’t collapse down small enough to fit in my backpack and detectors don’t come apart easily enough to pack them down to make efficient use of bag space. I’d like to be able to carry one highly collapsible shaft that can be used with two machines and for all the parts to neatly fit in alongside the other tools I carry.
  8. I've been lurking on this forum for years under another username (which I'm happy to let go of in the purge) and haven't really felt confident to post. Over the time I've gained soooo much knowledge how and where to find gold and the most appropriate tools and equipment to use. Thanks Steve and all the other amazing people here for everything you share - you're all awesome!
