  1. Thanks, it would be cool to find a roman coin. But apparently they were everywhere in Europe except here πŸ˜„
  2. My most prized find is the one at 65, that's a Brabant Denier, Duke Jan III, minted at Leuven between 1330 and 1337 AD.
  3. Finds part 2 and 3 : Take notice how the gold rings in picture 3 are between or just above the foil.
  4. To make it really "Belgian" you actually have 3 different permits : one for Flanders, one for Wallonia and one for the district of Brussels. Actually in the latter it's illegal I believe but skyscrapers are not really where I want to search 😁 As for Flanders, I have a permit by our gouvernment agency controlling historical sites so I'm covered as long as I have permission on the site and don't go any deeper as 30cm (12 inches). And that's fine for me, I don't like digging deep holes. Much of the restrictions here are actually very much needed. For instance, around Ypres you cannot search. This is logical if you take into consideration that for the 1917 offensive by the British in that region, 7 million artillery rounds were fired and some 30% of those didn't explode. And they're not all filled with explosives, some contain chlorine or mustard gas. And on other sites, I think we need to show some respect for the fallen on those sites (Bastogne for one). But back to the Deus 2 : went out yesterday, ground was frozen solid in a lot of places so I was a bit restricted in where to search. Managed to pull some musket balls (Napoleon or older, still looking for a good reference book on those) and some coins of the 17th and 18th century. Here's a picture what types of finds we get in Belgium : Most garbage is not included, I filled quite a few garbage bags with them πŸ™‚
  5. I did actually πŸ™‚ but the comparison is not fair at the moment, it rained for months here and the ground was more like a swamp than a field. And this week, it froze so now it's hard as rock. But as said, the Deus hit the coins, the Legend didn't. I'm sure if I put the LG30 on the Legend, it will find them but then the fair comparison would be to put the 11" coil on the Deus, wouldn't it? In my garden however, I see a difference between the two. There's a lot of canslaw here (mea culpa) and on the Legend they sound great. On the Deus however, they have an extra chirp/buzz to them that defines them as junk (I dug up quite a few). But to be honest, I'm not dissin' the Legend, it's a great detector! It's still my backup and will remain so. As for the Deus, I'm still learning the machine and mostly using it in General (with some modification to the 3 tones) so I'm not reaching its full potential yet I think. Give me 6 months πŸ™‚ and I'll be more confident with it.
  6. After (only) two weeks of use, I want to share my experience so far. I'm mostly comparing the detector with the Nokta Legend, which was my main detector to that point. Let me start with the 'negative' : my WSA II XL headphone didn't work. It didn't charge. So I contacted the dealer and he told me to send it back to him. It took a week to get a new one and when that arrived, it was defective too. Only sound in one ear. So I made the +100 mile trip (single trip) to his shop to get it replaced. He tested the charge and function of the headset and I was finally good to go. I was a bit dissapointed in the fact that it took two replacements to get it right and that besides a "I never had this problem so far", no real excuse was made. Lesson learned and there are plenty of other detector stores around. Now on to the positive. So the first week I was 'limited' to working with the remote speaker which did not yet let me enjoy the full "XP sound" experience but even so, I noticed some serious differences with my Legend. First of all, it's a lot lighter to swing. Even compared to the Nokta with the LG24 on it, I can swing it for hours without any issue. One of the reasons I bought a Deus was the ergonomics, the elbow and shoulder are starting to wear out after 50 years of use πŸ™‚ Build quality is exellent but so is that of the legend. But it's a lot lighter. It's also a more capable detector allround. Ok, you need to take into account that it costs +/- two times as much as the Legend so it would be an issue if it wouldn't but the difference is very much there. The 9" on the Deus 2 goes deeper than the LG24 on the Nokta. In my garden, I have buried some coins about 6 months ago (depth between 6 and 10 inches) and the Legend struggles to get them. The ones at 10 inches he simply cannot find. However, the Deus finds them, faint but they give a signal I would dig. Separation seems better too but honestly the LG24 had no issues there as well. Must be between my ears πŸ˜„ Ground balancing and thus negating the effect of the soil (we have heavy mineralized soil here) is a better than on the legend. No surprise there for me, I kind of expected this. It's also less sensitive to EMI, at least over here. There's however one thing that the Legend has over the Deus 2 : it's a lot more 'turn on and go'! I would not recommend the Deus 2 to someone new to the hobby, you do need some knowledge and experience in metal detecting before using the Deus 2. The Legend is more user friendly at first. Again, my experience of course πŸ™‚ But in defense of the Deus : Gary Blackwell does offer a lot of tutorials on Youtube that do help you in learning to use the Deus. Something I find lacking for the Legend. Anyway, I'm not regretting one single bit the €1500 ($1630) price tag on the detector because it's a more capable detector than the €700 euro costing Legend and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun detecting with it.
  7. I would go for the XL phones. I only have my Deus2 for a few weeks now but those headphones are fantastic.
  8. I'm hunting in Belgium so we more or less have the same type of targets under the coil πŸ™‚ and I can honestly advise you to buy the Legend. Be sure however to buy a new package (that's with version 1.11 and LG30 coil) and you will be set to go. I hunted with a Teknetics Alpha before this and there's simply no comparison between the two, the legend is simply the better machine. Multi-frequency is a game changer in some aspects but single frequency still has it's use (in high EMI for instance). You also need to consider the fact that the customer service of Nokta is very good and reading the manual (which is very complete) will get you started without too much troubles.
  9. Not up until now. I will do some hunting on beaches later this year
  10. I have the Tek-point too sinds a few weeks and if you get the detector too close to the pinpointer you will indeed have serious interference. But as you say, put your detector a few feet further from the hole and problem is solved πŸ™‚
  11. Glad to πŸ™‚ The arrows always point in a decision you make. For instance, "Park/Urban" will point to "Park Mode", which means that in case when you go out hunting in a park, you select the Park mode. The colors also have a meaning : Brown : where are you hunting? Field/park? Blue : what are you hunting for? Coins, relics, ...? Red : what are conditions that can impact your search? Wet soil, iron trash, bottle caps, ...? Green : Modes/options you select or change on your Legend. There are 3 groups : Mode (park or field), Frequency (M1 - 3) and filter/discrimination settings (Iron Filter, ferrous off, Single Frequency, ...) The reason I started working on this flow chart is that when I started to use the legend, I was simply copying the settings of youtubers that worked well for them. In my case however, they often didn't perform as I would have expected to. So I started to adapt the settings myself starting from the default settings from Nokta. And now, after months of hunting and testing with the Legend, I made this flowchart. In the future I will be updating it as my experience with the Legend improves.
  12. I have been playing with Visio for a few days and made a sort of flowchart for the settings on the Legend. It's based on the manual and my own experience with the machine. It's by no means a finished document so if you have any tips, feel free to share πŸ™‚ LegendFlowchart.pdf
  13. Ergonomics I guess. Having a wider base could get in the way for some. Personally, I like it in the narrow version, but I rest my detector against my shovel when picking up a find.
  14. Nicely done, @Ridge Runner. But I wonder if you wouldn't have been cheaper with this accessory from Nokta : https://www.noktadetectors.com/accessoire/impact-stand/ You can find it here and there for +/- 15$
  15. I don't think so, they did some promo last year that went on until a few weeks ago but those prices are the 'normal' ones. Still a very good deal for a great detector πŸ™‚
  16. Is it possible to do your posts in English? Having to go to Deepl every time to translate what you write is not really helping πŸ˜‰
  17. It's Russian πŸ˜‰ but this aside, I haven't hunted with the Legend on the beach yet so I can't give any advice
  18. Keep the LG28 as backup, you never know πŸ™‚ It's not a bad coil after all, just not as good as the LG30.
  19. That's a very good tip πŸ‘and it will improve things a lot πŸ™‚
  20. The Legend is a fantastic detector and I'm really happy to have bought it but there's just one little thing that bugs me : the headphones. Don't understand me wrong, soundwise they are good and the quality is ok but they are not waterproof. Not that I would expect to use them underwater or submerge them briefly but where I hunt there's a lot of mud. And Belgian mud is quite sticky (ask Napoleon and the British in 1917 πŸ˜‰ ). The result is that every time I go out hunting and it rains, the on/off switch and charging port get dirty with mud. Up until now, cleaning them with a toothpick has done the trick but it's only a matter of time before they will malfunction. So Nokta Makro, as you guys do listen to your customers, could you put a headphone on the market for the legend that at least is splash proof and has a covered on/off swith and charging port? I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for it πŸ™‚
  21. Just one tip : before you do the update, do a factory reset first. Then do the update and a factory reset again. Sounds a bit strange but I found that updates go better this way (and it was a tip here on the forum πŸ˜‰ )
  22. I have no doubt that this is the case. I'll be beach hunting in a few weeks on salt water beaches. I'll let you know how it went. But for everything else? Show me a detector that can do more πŸ™‚
  23. The best metal detector out there is the one you can afford. It's nice for some (and yes I'm a bit jealous) that they can own different high-end detectors to cover different scenarios, but I still believe that a lot of us aren't in the possibility of spending that kind of cash on the hobby. So for me, the choice was rather to find a detector that scored good (if not excellent) for most of the times I will use it. And when the legend was offered at reduced prices, I made my choice. I did spend some extra cash on two new coils just to tune it a bit more to my liking. And I must say that I'm happy with my choice. I go out hunting with a friend of mine, he has a Garret AT Max. And we generally find similar stuff when going out in the fields. The thing we noticed was that in Multi Frequency, the Legend was more able to separate targets. On the other hand, his detector is less sensitive to interference (Full 5G coverage has its disadvantages 😞 ). Mostly, the difference between us is that sometimes one is just luckier that the other. If there's nothing under your coil, you're not going to find anything. However good or expensive your detector might be.
  24. True but you have the 9x6 inch coil πŸ˜‰ and that one works very well for what you describe as necessary. One thing Nokta could improve on, is to offer different configurations for the legend. A bit like xp does for the ORX and Deus 1. Imagine that you would be able to choose what coil should by default be delivered with your Legend.
  25. The weekend is fast approaching and I'm looking forward to go out on a hunt again. Version 1.11 and LG30 coil. πŸ™‚
