  1. Joe says "Gee....what the heck was that?" as he walks right into it to investigate. 🤣 Only thing I've been scared by is those dang 600 pound manatees sneaking up on you from behind...
  2. "I'd walk a mile for a camel" comes to mind. Holy crap......you must be a young buck. I'm too out of shape for that kind of hunt now days. Looks like a fun hunt with all the jewelry, gold or not. Good on you for sticking with it.
  3. Starting to pick up with the kids out of school so the parents can go on vacation. I got a 14k signet ring last week to break my gold drought. Went Monday but the water was too rough to water hunt. Relegated to the sand/aluminum turf. 😒
  4. I thought the flower thingy was a sea urchin. Stupot, I think you'd be bored on a real "sand" beach. 😄
  5. Wow.....great hunt! That's a lot of rings for one hunt. The ring top left looks interesting. Tungsten bling? Ring right center isn't real?
  6. Just enough finds to keep you coming back for more. Is your pic of the pendant showing up backwards here on the forum? I found this cursive letter C pendant that looks like it......Link
  7. Nice story. That guy probably thought there's no way he'd ever see that tag again. SURPRISE! 😄
  8. In Prospecting Audio they have a higher pitch "scratchy/broken up" sound compared to a solid center line target. I don't even look at the screen when I come across one, just keep truckin'.
  9. I would have to be real sure it's a good target before digging that hole! Nice reward for you're trouble. Old gold has that "different" look. Congrats. That's a monster chain in the background of that pic. 😯
  10. Interesting items Bob. I agree, that purple ring looks really old. That's such a neat place to hunt due to older stuff coming up every so often. I don't get any of that down here. 😔 Yea, Tony's right.....you won't dig bottle caps very often. The smeared trace and ID #'s go all over the place with each pass over them. Same with tent stakes. Only caps that fool me are those in the water that come up totally encrusted and black. They usually stay between 18-25 and are rock solid staying on the same #. I dig it and when I see the cap in the scoop...."How the heck did that thing ring up a solid 22?". 😂
  11. Rare find indeed. Ask me how I know. 😏
  12. I know what you're saying there. When the gulf gets a little rough, it kicks up the sand into the water to give you zero visibility to see your coil. Tough to hit the target with your scoop if you're not even sure where your coil is! I try to lightly bump the side of the coil with the scoop to mark my spot to dig and hope that the waves don't move me off of it before I have a chance to jam my foot onto the back of the scoop. The trouble we'll go through to find gold! Great hobby.....now I have the urge to get back out there. 😄
  13. Wow....10 rings in one hunt!?! That's a heck of a lake spot you found there. Awesome....you and manti are going to get along well.
  14. Best tip for finding jewelry? Stay away from the Tampa Bay beaches. Go early morning and work the towel line before people start setting up all over it. I find most of my jewelry in the water, but if your just going to work the sand, I'd say the best place is the towel line. Work the wet sand at the water's edge at low tide. Go early a.m. to busy beaches where the most people congregate. Detector settings depend on what model detector you have. When beach hunting, use a larger foot operated sand scoop to move a lot of sand at once. Small hand scoops are only good for fresh drop near surface targets. I'm not a park hunter, but go where the people go. Think about where the people congregate and hunt there. I'll let the park guys give advice on that. Most of all, learn you're detector. Put the time in digging targets and remembering what the detector told you about each one. Learn what is trash so you don't waste time digging it. Maybe in a park you can use a "dig it all" approach, but not on an aluminum riddled beach such as mine here in the bay area. As you get more familiar with your detector, it will get easier and you won't be digging as much trash.
  15. Bob this time of the year I hunt the sand early before the sun comes up and then hit the 85 degree gulf water around 7 a.m. to stay cool. Gone by 11 a.m. I would dread sand hunting down here in the middle of the day this time of the year, too. Just too dang hot. That's why water hunting rewards are picking up now. Everyone's in the water to stay cool losing stuff! 😆
