  1. This is an awesome upgrade for the 600 or 800. I use this rod with a 600 and use the counterweight with the 11 inch coil and no weight when swinging the 6 inch coil. The s-rod shape is great!
  2. I have been using BM a lot and am really starting to like it for relic hunting. It is really easy to tell the difference between ferrous and non ferrous targets from the sounds the machine is making. There is very little falsing unless there is a very large iron object in the ground and I can tell immediately when that is the case. As far as the Nokta guy using full sensitivity I have found that I normally run my sensitivity at 20 to keep the chatter down in Park and Field...I am using 28,29, or even 30 with no chatter. This seems to make the machine feel more powerful. The only downside for me is that while relic hunting I usually dig up all good signals and I am digging up a lot more deeper nails and spikes. Again..this is for relic hunting as I have not done any coin hunting in this mode.
  3. I thought when you upgraded to the latest firmware that it included all the previous?
  4. Hey..maybe they are planning a firmware update to improve the 900 which would affect the Manticore sales..or maybe not lol
  5. Once I changed the IR setting to 2 it made a big difference to the ferrous sounds making it easy to tell what is ferrous and what is non ferrous
  6. I think it's perfect for cleaned out sites..and your overload theory just might have some merit! I really like the BM for relic hunting also as I really like how the sensitivity can be cranked up without chatter.(at least where I've been hunting)
  7. I have used the BM mode relic hunting for a couple days now and after setting the IR to 2 (and all metal)I am able to tell the difference between the ferrous and non ferrous targets. I really like this mode for relic hunting as it doesn't seem to miss any relics and its cool how you can crank the sensitivity up the whole way and there is no chatter..however after burying a couple shallow (4 inch quarter, dime, and modern penny) coins I noticed that the park and Field modes were noticeably better on these targets than the BM . The BM was really sketchy especially on the dime. Could it be that they need to be a bit deeper for the BM to shine?
  8. I used BM for a couple hours today while relic hunting today. I'm not sure if it was meant for this but I liked how it performed. Most of the ferrous stuff came in at 4 or 5 and when the ferro-check said ferrous that's what it was...no falsing at all! I had a few times where it rang up in the 40s and ferro-check said non ferrous and it was brass clock parts or other non ferrous stuff. Maybe its my imagination but it sure seemed like the ferro-check was more accurate in the BM mode. I am happy with it so far but I need some clarification on the 2nd Ground balance...what exactly does that mean?
  9. I tried out Beast mode today and noticed the "coil knock" also.I have no gold here and overall the BM seemed a lot like Field or Park on M2 with Pitch Tones. I was using the LG24 but agree that 6" coil might be a little better in the crowded situations.
  10. Jeff is DT something that you will turn on in Park and Field and just leave on?
  11. I like to turn the sensitivity up until the machine gets noisy and then back it off until it calms down. In my soil I usually end up around 20 to 22. You can use the horseshoe button that notches out iron and also turn up the iron bias setting but by doing this you increase the possibility of missing some non ferrous targets.
  12. That's interesting that the F-pulse is well over an inch more sensitive on the coins but wouldn't recognize the gold nugget? Which one is your fav Jeff?
  13. The IF stability setting seems to be the least talked about setting on the Legend. The manual says that in the default settings for IF at 8 or 9 the stability setting is inactive in Park,Field, and Gold Field modes.Does anybody ever change the default stability setting of 3 and if so what would the reason be to change it?
