  1. Guy’s, I hear ya! About a year ago I was taking my granddaughter with me to the beach to do some detecting and on the way, she talked, telling me about her school. My continued response was huh? And asked that she speak up so I could hear her. Later that night when I got home, I got on line and found the Jabra Enhance Pro hearing aids. I took the online hearing test several times and discovered what my family has been saying all along, I have hearing deficiencies in both ears. The hearing tests concluded the same results each time, with my left ear being worse. They “tuned” them to my needs and I received them in 10 days. After I got them, I contacted Jabra to follow a guidance The cost was approx 1600 and includes recharging case, a tool kit for cleaning and unlimited replacement “cups”. Fully adjustable and programmable with my phone to the various environments.. The important part is that wearing hearing aids has sure changed my life and I especially hear my granddaughters without question now. My headphones fit comfortably over my ears and now I hears my detectors tones much more clearly.
  2. Looks like you’ve nailed it! Sorry couldn’t resist.
  3. Steve, I’ve really enjoyed this forum and all you and other members add to it. I only recently joined the forum and only took up metal detecting about 5 years ago. I’d sure like to learn how to properly understand the Gold detecting aspects of my 800 so that I could maybe find a nugget. Thanks Steve for all you do and all you’ve done for the hobby.
  4. No, San Jose, about 50 miles South of San Francisco.
  5. I’ve lived in my town for the past 60+ years. Four years ago I picked up my first metal detector and would detect every local park and over to the beach. Never did I go to the local community center that is walking distance from my home. The property houses several buildings that were built as a school back in the late 1900’s. Well, I went by last week and see that they are scraping the soil between buildings to update the landscaping. I decided to detect the areas that have been scraped and in it I found two 1946 Rosie’s and one 1945 liberty dime, along with nine wheats and 27.12 in clad. Also a few marbles (I thought I”d lost them 🤪) This place is gonna be my go to for a while.
  6. Thanks for his tip, I’m hoping it works for me. I’ve tried so many different suggestions and none have worked yet.
  7. Steve, thanks again for this forum. There are a lot of very sharp individuals on here that contribute lots of shared knowledge (and some BS that we have to discriminate out) You do a great job of moderating.
  8. Thanks Steve, I agree with the size of the coil. It must be true, size matters! Seriously though, I too feel the OEM coil does as good or better than after market coils. I’m no expert, like a lot of you are, it’s just my observation.
  9. I’m interested to see if there are noticeable differences in performance for the available coils that are out. I see manufacturer specific coils and then some made by Coiltek and others (I don’t recall their names). My question is, do any of you suggest a particular coil manufacturer over another? I don’t mean 6” vs 9” vs 11” and so forth, just curious if a particular coil manufacturer appears to make better product. I have a a 5x10 coiltek for my 900 and I don’t really feel it works any better than the standard coils.
  10. I bought the two piece shaft for my 800, from Steve and love it. I was not aware of the 3 piece and kinda wish I’d heard of it before my purchase. Now I need to reach out to Steve and get the 3 piece. I’ll have the two piece for sale after my order. Thanks Steve, you’ll be hearing from me soon.
  11. Good story. I too use my 800 as a go to Detector because I have confidence in it. I wish I had the same feeling with my golf clubs.
  12. I’m not experiencing the issues others are. It took 50+ hours to work out some understanding and I do look forward to an update but all is well at this time..
  13. New to the forum. I’m on several other forums and started with an AT Pro as my first detector. Now I own a Nox 800 and 900. I use all three regularly. Each has its own. I’ve been lurking this forum for 5-6 years now. Good stuff.
